On Wednesday MMA Veteran Wanderlei Silva was hit by a car while riding his bike through the streets of Curitiba, Brazil.

Speaking to Tribuna, Silva detailed his injuries. Sharing that he had sustained cuts to his face and a broken foot.

After coming out of the hospital the former UFC fighter shared that his life had been saved by his choice to wear a helmet.

“If I hadn’t been wearing a helmet, I might have died”.

“People have to be more careful in traffic. It’s hard to ride a bike in Curitiba”.

Silva continued, sharing his experience with the driver who had been part of the collision with him.

“He was super nice, stopped and put me in his car. Other people have already appeared to help me”.

Continuing, Wanderlei shared his thought on why bike accidents happen in Curitiba.

“We have many more cyclists in the city and we don’t have a suitable place to ride. Unfortunately, drivers don’t respect it. I was very sad about this accident. I ask people to be more aware of traffic and not to use their cell phones, as this can cost someone’s life”.

Recently the MMA Veteran had been involved in talks of a potential bare knuckle boxing bout with Boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Recently it was revealed the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship were willing to offer the boxing great in excess of $20 million dollars to face Silva in the bare knuckle boxing ring.

MMA striking coach and close friend of Silva’s Rafael Cordeiro has been seen working with Tyson ahead of his potential return to the ring. He recently shared his thoughts that any potential bout between the two would hinge on weather Tyson was interested in competing in the bare knuckle format.

As of now, there is nothing signed between the two.

It’s fair to say MMA veteran Wanderlei Silva believes a bareknuckle fight with Mike Tyson will be a huge affair.

With Tyson’s plans of a comeback for a charity event, it was recently revealed that Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship were willing to offer the boxing legend in excess of $20 million to compete in bareknuckle format.

Their preferred opponent for “Iron Mike” was Silva, and the former PRIDE champion is all in for the opportunity especially given the current global situation.

“This fight has everything to sell a lot, especially now that everyone is stuck at home (due to the coronavirus pandemic),” Silva told MMA Fighting. “It would be the perfect moment to book a fight like this.”

Tyson vs. Silva To Outdo Mayweather?

Given the aggressive styles of both fighters and the fact that many people are at home due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, “The Axe Murderer” even thinks a potential bareknuckle contest would generate more money than a Floyd Mayweather fight.

“There’s nothing going on right now, so a fight like this has everything to generate more money than (Floyd) Mayweather’s fights because of the entertainment and other factors,” Silva said. “He’s aggressive and so am I; I’m in great shape both mentally and physically, so it has everything to be a great show for everyone.”

Of course, it all depends on Tyson and whether he does want to compete in bareknuckle format.

According to MMA striking coach Rafael Cordeiro — who is working with Tyson and is notably a friend of Silva’s — that doesn’t seem to be the plan for now. But things could change in an instant in the combat sports world.

The man tasked with getting Mike Tyson ready for his comeback has poured cold water on a potential fight between the former heavyweight king and MMA legend Wanderlei Silva – who he also trains.

Tyson announced he would be returning to the ring at 53 years old a few weeks ago. Since then he has been inundated with fight offers from pretty much everyone in the combat sports world. Long-time rival Evander Holyfield announced he would also return to fighting at 57 years old and seems the most likely option. However, Tyson does have other options with an array of MMA fighters offering to face him. Andrei Arlovski, Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz to name just a few.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is desperately pursuing ‘Iron Mike’. BKFC boss Dave Feldman told MMA Fighting earlier this week that he would be offering Tyson in excess of $20 million and had hoped to match him with Silva, he said.

“I think a Wanderlei Silva, someone of that nature. No matter how old Silva gets, he’s dangerous, and I think that would be an intriguing matchup. Something like that, but I don’t actually have anything in mind right now.”

‘The Axe Murderer’ has since revealed to Sherdog that he has been offered $10 million to face Tyson – an offer he has since accepted.

“They offered me $10 million plus pay-per-view percentage and I accepted immediately. I hope Feldman can make it happen,” Silva said.

Mutual coach of both fighters Rafael Cordeiro had no idea a fight between two of his pupils was in the making. The Brazilian expressed his doubts the bout would happen due to the fact Tyson is fully focused on returning to the sport he made his name in, he said.

“I didn’t get any calls from Wand or Tyson, but as far as I know that fight won’t happen. Tyson is training to make a boxing fight — with gloves. It is hard to comment about rumors.”
