Nunes and Ansaroff have been dating for years. They are the most high-profile openly gay couple competing in MMA right now.

“The Lioness” has fought her way to the top of the UFC 135-pound rankings. Nunes demolished Miesha Tate to win the title at UFC 200. She then secured three title defenses against Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko, and Raquel Pennington. The Brazilian is arguably the most dangerous striker in the history of the division due to her fearsome knockout power.

She has also been a strong voice as the first openly gay champion in UFC history.

Nunes has been out of action since UFC 224 this May. She is expected to face UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg in a champ vs. champ super fight next.

Ansaroff beat Randa Markos by decision in her last fight at July’s UFC on FOX 30. The couple has not announced an official date for their wedding as of yet. They will become the second married couple on the UFC roster when they do tie the knot.

Rose Namajunas Says Joanna Jedrzejczyk “Just Sounds Stupid”

Rose Namajunas thinks it’s time for Joanna Jedrzejczyk to move on:

The post Rose Namajunas Says Joanna Jedrzejczyk “Just Sounds Stupid” appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

After beating her twice, Rose Namajunas says Joanna Jedrzejczyk just sounds silly.

The UFC women’s strawweight champion feels this way because longtime former champ Jedrzejczyk won’t let their two fights go. Namajunas defeated her by knockout at UFC 217 and then again at UFC 223 earlier this year.

Jedrzejczyk thought she won the second time and has continually said as much in the media. Namajunas thinks it’s beginning to sound a bit ridiculous because it’s time for Jerdzejczyk to move on. The champ told MMA Fighting she was only making herself look silly:

“It don’t really bother me. I know at this point it just kind of sounds silly. The more she talks, the more she just makes herself sound stupid. For me, I like to just try and be positive about everything as much as possible.

“Of course, you can get dragged into silly ****. I just remind myself that she was a great champion. I looked up to her at one point in my life for a reason and I just try and remember what she did for the sport and just kind of leave it at that. She was a great champion, but now it’s my time. And eventually she’s gotta come to terms with that and be OK with it.”

Jedrzejczyk may claim to have won the second fight, but meanwhile, Namajunas isn’t buying that she really believes it. The current champ has a specific reason why as well:

“I think you can just look at her face after our second fight, just look at her face and know how she really felt. Body language kind of shows more than what the words really say or mean. To me, it looked like she was trying to make herself believe in it, that she really won. When she really knew, at the end of the day, that I won the fight.”

Namajunas thinks Jedrzejczyk was a great champion due to her lengthy reign. But she isn’t sure she truly wants to fight the best like she claims:

“I don’t know what she’s thinking, really,” Namajunas said. “But I know what she’s saying and she’s saying I’m scared of this or that. I think all that’s really showing is she don’t want to fight the best. She don’t want to fight me, when she knows I’m the best. She wants me to try and lose to somebody else or something, so she can challenge them or something. But she don’t really want to beat the best — and that’s me.

“Regardless of whatever she wants, whatever is gonna happen is gonna happen and I’m gonna still keep living my life and just remember that she was a great champion. She was a great champion.”

Nicco Montano Finally Set For First Title Defense

Nicco Montano is finally set to come back.

The post Nicco Montano Finally Set For First Title Defense appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano will finally defend her title for the first time.

Following a highly-publicized back-and-forth with former women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko, multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that Montano will meet “Bullet” at September 8’s UFC 228 from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Montano has been out of action since she won the title over short-notice replacement Roxanne Modafferi at last December’s The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26 Finale. She defeated Lauren Murphy, Montana De La Rosa, and Barb Honchak during the show to earn her spot in the championship bout.

Shevchenko famously lost two ultra-close bouts to current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes after beating former champion Holly Holm, prompting a move down to a more natural weight class of 125 pounds for the Muay Thai standout.

She was then scheduled to meet UFC debutee Priscila Cachoeira earlier this year, resulting in one of the more controversial fights of 2018 when a grossly overmatched Cachoeira was viciously beaten by Shevchenko while embattled referee Mario Yamasaki refused to stop the bout.

There is still no main event announced for UFC 228 as of this writing.

Cat Zingano Reveals How Scared She Was Before UFC Boise Return

Cat Zingano was “so scared” leading up to her fight at UFC Boise, she takes the victory home regardless.

“Alpha” Cat Zingano isn’t done just yet.

The former women’s bantamweight title contender looked impressive on Saturday night, July, 14th 2018, en route to a unanimous decision win over Marion Reneau at UFC Boise.

“Alpha” Cat stepped into the sold-out CenturyLink Arena riding a three-fight skid, with her last win coming over current division champion Amanda Nunes September of 2014. Needless to say, a win was of paramount importance for the onetime title challenger Zingano, who has fallen on hard times the last few years.

Speaking with MMA Junkie after the fight, Zingano revealed just how stressful the lead up was for this fight.

“I was so scared going into this fight,” “Alpha Cat said. “I was very, very scared. Coming off three losses, all of them were losses where I just didn’t show up, wake up. I felt out of it.”

“To come in tonight, I wasn’t sure who would show up. I really just wanted to dance my dance and try to feel her and try to stay off rhythm and be wild and crazy and me.”

The last four years have been well documented for Zingano who has endured more than any human should.

Because of that, the first mother to have ever competed inside the octagon displayed a level of determination that few fighters have.

“I worked so hard for so long without any of the results I wanted,” Zingano said. “I’m grateful for all the steps I took to get here. Although not all of them looked the way I wanted them to, it’s all part of this. I’m grateful and thankful, for everyone and everything along the way, and I’m able to know myself through all of this, and it’s nice to be here, and it’s nice to feel myself again.”

The much-needed win for Zingano sets her on a different trajectory for the second half of the year. As for the 36-year-old’s immediate plans, they are a bit unclear, but she did offer up an interesting rematch- stating she wants to avenge every one of her losses.

“I think we’ve got some unfinished business,” Zingano said. “I think it’s weird for me to call her out. She should call me out. It drives me crazy seeing people that (I’ve beaten) go on. She seems pretty not worried about me. But now that I’m in the W column, she’s got no reason not to lock horns with me again.”

“She’s good. She’s been a good champion. She’s been dominant. But she hasn’t done a whole lot that I feel has evolved past what I’ve done to her. It’s time. The time’s coming.”

Let us know what you think? Will Zingano earn another title shot in the near future or are her best days behind her?
