Chuck Liddell’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career may be over, but his professional wrestling career could just be getting started.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Liddell reveals he used to party with Shane McMahon, a top WWE executive and son of professional wrestling tycoon Vince McMahon, and Shane actually tried recruiting him for WWE in the past.

“I used to hang out with Shane McMahon every once in a while, we would go out and party sometimes,” Liddell said. “And he said ‘If you’re ever seriously interested about coming over we should talk.’ I love fighting and I love being in real fighting and I mean I got nothing against WWE.

“I wouldn’t mind doing that now too. It’s just acting, going out and doing the acting. Those guys do some pretty impressive things in the ring as far as… I mean it’s all staged, but it’s still you know, it’s not easy.”

The 49-year-old also explained how different the WWE is from any other form of sport or entertainment. In the ring, you must rely on your dance partner to keep you save, as you’re putting your safety in their very hands.

“One of the things I’ve always had with that sport too, is the difference between my sport and their things, see you’re putting your trust in the other guy not to hurt you,” Liddell said.

“Surrendering your body to him. Like, throw you and hope he doesn’t hurt you. In my sport, I’m responsible for you not hurting me. I like having the responsibility on my end not yours.”

What do you make of Liddell’s WWE interest?

Jorge Masvidal is going after the “Baddest Mother F*cker” title at UFC 244.

He’ll take on Nate Diaz in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event from Madison Square Garden on November 2. The winner will get a UFC-made, one-off BMF belt. Ahead of this week’s press conference to hype the fight, Masvidal spoke to WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T on his podcast, “The Hall Of Fame.”

Masvidal teased that, with a win at UFC 244, he wants to go over to WWE and challenge the company’s BMF’er. (H/T MMA Junkie)

“I want you to tell me who the baddest mother (expletive) is over at the WWE, and that’s what’s next after this fight,” Masvidal said. “God willing, I get my hand raised on Nov. 2, God allows me to get this victory, I want to go over and challenge the baddest mother f’er in WWE, because I know there are some bad mother f’ers over there.”

There has been a lot made about the UFC creating a BMF title for this fight. However, Masvidal says, if the UFC president in Dana White is creating the strap, why not get behind the idea?

“If the president of the company is making the belt, you can’t disagree,” Masvidal said. “The two baddest mother(expletive)’s on the planet throwing down, you know. The company, the president himself is saying (this). Of course you got to love it, you got to get behind it, and at the end of the day it’s a fight that everybody wants to see.”

What do you think about Masvidal teasing a WWE appearance?

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may have suffered the most gruesome injury of her career.

While shooting for the “9-1-1” TV show in Mexico, Rousey suffered a freak accident that saw a boat door slam on her left hand. Thinking nothing of the injury, Rousey finished the scene and only then saw what had happened.

Her middle finger was broken and the tendon was nearly severed. The WWE star also fractured the tip of her ring finger. She was rushed to the hospital soon after where doctors reattached her bone and tendon with a plate and screws. Amazingly, Rousey returned to work the next day and finished the rest of her scenes.

On Wednesday, “Rowdy” posted an update on what happened while displaying the gruesome (and highly-graphic) nature of her injury before it was fixed:

“So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting @911onfox,” Rousey wrote on Instagram. “Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws. I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover.

“Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days. There’s so much more than I can write here, stayed tuned via @rondarouseydotcom for the full story. And of course tune in to see how well I can act like my finger didn’t just fall off in this upcoming season of @911onfox.”

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez certainly made an impression during his highly-anticipated pro wrestling debut on Saturday night.

Velasquez competed in a six-man tag match at Triplemania XXVII at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City. Teaming up with Cody Rhodes and Pyscho Clown, they faced the team of El Texano Jr., Black Taurus and a mystery partner who turned out to be Impact Wrestling’s Kevin “Killer Kross.

Velasquez’s team eventually won the match — with Velasquez notably getting the kimura submission victory — but everyone was talking about his overall performance more than anything. Donning a black mask, Velasquez performed like a traditional luchador, executing moves such as the hurricanrana among others — moves not usually associated with a heavyweight.

You can see all his highlights below:

“I was really impressed with him,” Rhodes said (via MMA Fighting). “He seemed like a big kid. He was breathing and allowing himself time to take and see/feel the crowd. I was happy to see that debut. And I loved his shoes. Taurus is really special too.

I would love to see everybody in that ring at AEW [All Elite Wrestling] at some point, even for a one off. Cain also didn’t have ‘happy feet’ and was very calm even when moving quickly. Ahead of most.”

What do you make of Velasquez’s moves in the squared circle?

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is set to make his pro wrestling debut this weekend and he certainly has a lot of fans interested.

Velasquez takes part in Triplemania XXVII this Saturday at Arena Mexico in Mexico City. He will be tag teaming with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown to face the team of Texano Jr., Taurus and a mystery opponent in a six-man tag match.

And as one can see in the below video, the American Kickboxing Academy product has a lot of fans in Mexico eager to see him in the squared circle:

Former WWE champion Alberto Del Rio notably believes Velasquez has what it takes to succeed in pro wrestling:

“Velasquez has all the athletic credentials,” Del Rio said. “Wrestling is more difficult than people know, and it’s hard physically, but Cain has the athletic pedigree to do the job in the ring.

“He respects wrestling. He has the right attitude, he is sincere in wanting to learn. Whether that will translate, we don’t know, but he’s doing and saying all the right things.”

As for his Octagon return, there is nothing new right now. Velasquez last fought at UFC Phoenix in a losing effort against Francis Ngannou. He notably busted his knee early on in that fight before succumbing to a TKO defeat.

Do you think we’ll ever see Velasquez in the Octagon again?
