Dana White is not afraid to let the world know what he is feeling. He recently took to Twitter to vent his feelings about the referee that officiated the recent boxing matchup between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz.

Mayweather knocked out Ortiz on Saturday to remain undefeated, capturing the WBC welterweight title. But the finish came in a very controversial fashion.

After an intentional head-butt from Ortiz, the fight was temporarily stopped by referee Joe Cortez. Whilst Cortez was docking a point from Ortiz, his eyesight was averted from the fighters. Ortiz, meanwhile, was apologizing to Mayweather for the foul and the two fighters touched gloves to resume fighting.

Whilst Ortiz stepped back with his guard down, Mayweather caught Ortiz with a left/right combo that left him down for the count.

However, the referee had not seen what had taken place and had to stop the fight.

Mayweather has defended the decision and stated that Ortiz should not have left his guard down.

Dana White was quick to take to Twitter to criticize the referee:

Was that NUTS or what!?!? Dirty from both fighters and the most HORRIBLE refereeing I have EVER seen in boxing or anywhere else.

White felt that both fighters should have been walked to their respective corners, with the fight restarted properly:

Ref never sent a fighter to a neutral corner to take a point. Especially after an intentional headbutt. That’s why you have a ref!

You can’t blame the fighters. The ref is in there to stop that **** from happening. That is the worst ref’n I have ever seen in boxing EVER.

The controversy surrounding the fight continues to rage on.

Once an athlete retires, they tend to spend the rest of their lives playing golf and what not. However, most of these athletes possess skills and attributes that could be put to good use.

Chael Sonnen is one of those athletes who is exceptionally skilled in things other than fighting. Love him or hate him, nobody can deny that he is a great speaker and an intelligent person. Therefore, it’d be a shame if he was to retire from MMA and live the rest of his life away in a lush pad in Oregon. He has skills that should be utilized. For example, Sonnen has a skill-set that would be great for somebody who is required to speak a lot for their career.

I did not include any silly career suggestions for Chael Sonnen (in case he decides he is going to hunt me down). That is for you, the readers, to come up with. Leave your suggestions in the comments below!

This article is just a bit of fun and a discussion point for fans to let others know their opinions about Chael Sonnen.

Georges St-Pierre Sets out Conditions to Fight Anderson Silva

Georges St-Pierre has told UFC Connected that he is willing to fight Anderson Silva, but only if the UFC agree to the terms that St-Pierre has outlined.

Earlier in the week, St-Pierre told UFC Connected that he would want the promotion to ban Anderson Silva from competing so that St-Pierre has the time he needs to gain weight.

When asked about the difference in size, St-Pierre was aware of the seemingly large size difference between himself and Anderson Silva. He told Sportsnet.ca:

Anderson used to fight at 168lbs, just a few years ago in Japan. I don’t know what he truly walks around at. I’ve heard at times, 230lbs, he’s a very big guy.

I walk around at 188, 190lbs. To put on weight, or for me to lose weight, is very hard. I’m an ectomorph, that’s the body type and physique that I have. I have a hard time losing and gaining weight.

St-Pierre spoke of his need for time in order to move up in weight in order to face Anderson Silva, without hurting his style and performance inside of the cage:

I could do it, but it depends on the matter of time that I can do it in. It will definitely take time, but is the UFC willing to give me the time to do so? Same for the fans.

I will not be able to fight during that time and the same for Anderson, because what if he loses? No one is invincible; then this fight would be thrown out the window.

With St-Pierre stating the conditions for a proposed match, is this super-fight closer to happening than we all think?

For now, St Pierre meets Carlos Condit for the UFC welterweight championship at UFC 137. If St-Pierre is to lose to Carlos Condit, then fans will probably have to wait a little longer for the proposed super-fight between Silva and St-Pierre.

St-Pierre was also humble in the fact that he thinks that Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter in the world right now.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, fresh from a win against Brendan Schaub at UFC 134, now knows who he will have to beat in order to work his way back up to contention: Frank Mir.

Nogueira recently revived his career with a stunning TKO win over top contender Brendan Schaub at UFC 134 and is now looking to make a run at the title.

Mir is coming off a win against Roy Nelson, the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights”, in a fight in which Mir was heavily criticized for his performance.

It was announced on the UFC website that the fight between “Minotauro” and Mir has been set for UFC 140, set to take place at the Air Canana Center in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

UFC President Dana White had this to say about the exciting heavyweight matchup: “Both men are known as two of the premier submission specialists in the division but have shown dangerous striking skills as well.”

This year looks like it is going to be a big year for heavyweight fights: Alisatair Overeem will take on Brock Lesnar in December and Cain Velasquez fighting Junior dos Santos in November.

Now, the two best submission fighters in the division face off in order to establish their place in the title picture.

UFC 137: Cesar Gracie Slams Nick Diaz: Diaz Has "Disrespected the Sport"

Nick Diaz was set to face Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight championship at UFC 137. But, after not appearing at scheduled press conferences twice in one week, Dana White cut him from the event.

It is now reported that Carlos Condit will take Diaz’s place to fight St-Pierre for the welterweight title at the Mandalay Bay Arena, in Las Vegas.

Cesar Gracie, Diaz’s long-time friend, adviser and trainer, has gone on record slamming Diaz’s actions leading to his removal from the event.

“I don’t blame Dana White on this at all,” Gracie today told MMAjunkie. “This is a professional company, and Nick is a 28-year-old man.”

“I’ve stuck up for Nick, even when he was wrong before,” Gracie said. “But he’s let a lot of people down. He’s let his team down. We all bought plane tickets to Vegas. We got hotel rooms booked, paid for. We’ve got all that, and Nick just decided not to go to something he’s supposed to. They’re paying him a lot of money, and in this economy where people don’t have money, he’s blessed. He should be thanking God every night how blessed he is.

Gracie even volunteered to personally take Diaz to the press conferences and even left his own son’s birthday party to ensure that Diaz got to the events. However, Diaz was nowhere to be found and wanted to make his own way to the conference, according to Gracie.

“And instead, he’s not getting on a plane to go to Vegas. I’m extremely disappointed. He’s done a lot of stuff, but this is the worst of it. If I were him, I would be begging Dana White to get my job back and work your way up to a title shot at some point.”

It seems that Diaz’s actions have taken a strain on the pair’s personal relationship:

“At this point, I don’t know what I’m going to do with Nick because he’s not only disrespected the sport, he’s disrespected me and himself,” he said.

“There’s a lot of people in this world that work hard and show up to work, and they’re grateful to have the job,” he said. “And Nick is obviously not one of those.”

Gracie is clearly upset by the events:

“I’ve barely slept in the last couple of days, and it’s sickened me. Here’s the opportunity that I’ve worked for for over 10 years, to mold a guy to become the best possible guy, and to show he can be the best guy in the world. And he takes this opportunity and he acts like an immature child about it.

“It’s disturbing, to say the least. He got what he deserved by not taking this fight. He told everybody he would do whatever it would take to do it, he lobbied for it, and he acts like this. Dana White is 100 percent correct in what he did.”

This is an unfortunate situation and the future seems bleak for Nick Diaz in the UFC.
