50 Cent offers a big money deal to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in order to sign with Bellator MMA.

50 Cent Making Moves

This is the latest attempt by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to make some moves in the landscape of mixed martial arts. It should be noted that the rapper does have some connections with the Viacom-owned promotion as recently signed an apparel deal with Bellator. He also revealed that he would be giving out a $1 million cash prize to the winner of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix.

Recently, Jackson took to his official Twitter account where he gave the offer to the UFC lightweight champion. He also brought up how the UFC is not the only game in town and that he would be willing to deal with UFC President Dana White about getting him out of his contract. This is after the melee at UFC 229 that involved Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor and their respective teams.

How We Got Here

The money deal would see Khabib and his teammate, featherweight Zubaira Tukhugov, make the jump from the UFC to Bellator MMA to fight. This comes off the heels of Nurmagomedov threatening to quit the UFC should the UFC release his teammate in the fallout of the UFC 229.

50 Cent Offers

Jackson wrote the following on his official Instagram account, which later saw Khabib respond in the comment section by stating “send me the location.”

“@khabib_nurmagomedov I’ll deal with Dana and your contract later. The UFC is not the only game in town. Zubaira is welcome also. #bellator #lecheminduroi.”

The Deal

For those who may not recall, the reason for such an exact amount of money offered by the rapper is due to it matching Nurmagomedov’s fight purse for UFC 229 that is held by the NSAC. McGregor received his full $3 million paycheck.

Partnership Of a New Kind

Bellator revealed in a press release today that they had partnered with rapper 50 Cent. They duo will promote his “Get the Strap” clothing line and Le Chemin du Roi champagne brand. 50 Cent has apparently decided to be generous with the money he’ll make from the partnership. The press release said he would donate $1 million to the winner of the Welterweight World Grand Prix:

“A passionate and knowledgeable MMA fan, Jackson has already agreed to re-invest a portion of his deal by offering one million dollars in cash to the winner of the upcoming Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix that will air exclusively on DAZN.”

Bellator President Scott Coker gave his thoughts on the upcoming promotional partnership:

“We are thrilled to partner with such a legendary icon who has been a friend to the Bellator family for quite some time. The “Get The Strap” apparel line is just the beginning of many joint ventures we will explore together.”

Managing Fighters?

As the release closed, 50 Cent teased some other ventures in MMA. He said he was going to branch out into managing fighters:

“Bellator has a roster filled with some of the most charismatic athletes in the world. As my relationship with Bellator deepens, you will see me moving into fighter management opportunities that will allow me to integrate top stars into both scripted and unscripted projects across the Viacom networks, as well as the other outlets I have access to.”

Time will tell what that means for Bellator.

Welterweight champion MacDonald will meet middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi this weekend. He’ll then move on to meet Fitch in the Grand Prix. Meanwhile, ‘Rampage’ Jackson will take on Wanderlei a fourth time.

Finally, former champ Douglas Lima will rematch Andrey Koreshkov to kick off the Grand Prix at Bellator 206.

It looks like Bellator MMA will be forking over a payment of $1 million to rapper 50 Cent.

For the past several months, 50 and Bellator MMA President Scott Coker have been in discussions with one another. Nobody knew exactly what the pair could’ve been discussing, with some fans speculating that 50 could be negotiating to actually fight for the promotion.

50 Cent recently fed these rumors by teasing a fight challenge towards Bellator heavyweight Rampage Jackson.

It turns out 50 Cent and Coker’s dealings may have simply been negotiations over the rapper’s “Get The Strap” catchphrase. 50 took to Instagram and announced Bellator will pay him $1 million for the rights to the catchphrase and to expect and see “Get The Strap” on some Bellator-related apparel:

It should also be noted that 50 had some interesting comments about Bellator’s recent announcement regarding their multi-year programming deal with DAZN:
