The trilogy bout between Alistair Overeem and Badr Hari is set.
AD.nl made the news official, first reporting the matchup. Overeem signed with GLORY back in June of last year, and was initially scheduled to return in October against heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven. However, Overeem was sidelined with an injury ahead of the bout.
Now, the 42-year-old will return to take his first professional kickboxing fight since 2010. He exited the sport on a five-fight win streak. His last defeat hasn’t come since 2009 when he was finished by none other than Hari himself via first-round TKO as a result of the two-knockdown rule.
Now, he’ll get the chance to avenge that loss. As for Hari, he’s currently on a three-fight losing streak inside the ring, with two No Contests to go along with it. His last victory hasn’t come since August of 2015.
When Overeem and Hari did meet for the very first time in December of 2008 in Japan, Overeem finished Hari with a left hook in the first round. Hari would avenge that loss the following year, leaving them 1-1 heading into this third fight.
Overeem ventures back into kickboxing after a career in mixed martial arts (MMA) lasting over 20 years. “The Demolition Man” has competed for promotions such as PRIDE FC, Strikeforce, DREAM, and, of course, the UFC.
Now, Overeem will look to see if he can return over a decade later and increase his win streak to six in the world of kickboxing. GLORY Collision 4 will take place this October with no official date or venue set as of this writing.

UFC veteran Alistair Overeem is slated to fight Badr Hari for the third time this October at GLORY Collision 4.
Early last year, UFC chose to part ways with Alistair Overeem after he lost his final outing under the banner to Alexander Volkov in Feb 2021. As a seasoned professional of the sport, Overeem has competed in the most well-known promotions through the years having started his professional career in 1999.
After a two-decade-long career that saw him fight in PRIDE FC, Strikeforce, DREAM, K-1 Kickboxing, and the UFC, Overeem will finally be making his first showing under GLORY.
For his debut match in the promotion, Alistair Overeem has been matched up against longtime rival Badr Hari for a third fight. While the 42-year-old Dutch was previously scheduled to face the heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven, ‘The Demolition Man’ was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury last October. While most athletes take their chops to MMA after specializing in one area, Overeem maintained a balance between MMA and kickboxing. He made his debut in both sports in the same year and although he spent most of his career in MMA, he also holds a record of 10-4 in kickboxing.
Alistair Overeem has been a long-standing fixture in the field of combat sports barring boxing. Making his debut in the UFC in 2011, Overeem secured a win over Brock Lesnar via TKO. He has also stood toe-to-toe with current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, Stipe Miocic, Chuck Liddell, Mirko Cro Cop, and many more.
Badr Hari is no exception when compared in terms of longevity. Having fought most of the best heavyweight fighters, Hari has had a career that spanned generations since his professional debut in 2002. Hari has also held titles in K-1 kickboxing and It’s Showtime. He was also twice a runner-up in K-1 Grand Prix tournaments and has challenged the prolific Rico Verhoeven twice for the GLORY heavyweight crown.
Their first encounter came in a K-1 and DREAM crossover event Dynamite!! 2008. Overeem dispatched Hari with a knockout in the first round to upset the oddsmakers. In their second clash in the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 tournament, Hari was able to avenge his loss by knocking out Overeem in the opening round of the semi-final matchup.
Now, Overeem and Hari will put their record on the line to come out on top of their rivalry with one win over the other at GLORY Collision 4 this October. No exact date or location has been confirmed as of yet.

Alistair Overeem is set to make his professional wrestling debut against former WWE wrestler, Braun Strowman.
The WES (Wrestling Entertainment Series) promotional company announced via its website that the former Strikeforce and Dream heavyweight champion would be joining the ranks of professional wrestling.
WES, run by former WWE wrestlers, Gzim Selmani & Sunny Dhinsa, announced that the event, which is the promotion’s first, would be held on June 4 in the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England.
The move comes a surprise to many as Overeem, had signed with Glory Kickboxing following his release from the UFC. ‘The Demolition Man’ was also booked to face Rico Van Hooven, the current Glory heavyweight champion, in late 2021 but withdrew due to injury.
The Dutchman had also been critical of wrestling in the past, referring to it as ‘gay’ and ‘lame’ in an interview with Ariel Helwani, on the MMA hour.
“Recently, I started looking again [at professional wrestling] on YouTube, and oh my God, this stuff is lame”, said Overeem. “It’s just lame what these guys are doing. It’s fake. It’s lame. It’s stupid. It’s gay. It doesn’t make any sense.
It’s lame,” Overeem continued. “It’s not even a sport. It’s just lame. It’s bad acting. It’s just lame. Sorry for all the fans of WWE, but I’m just being honest. I’m just giving my opinion. Free country, right?”
Overeem last fought for the UFC in February 2021 where he would suffer yet another knockout loss, this time at the hands of Alexander Volkov. Overeem, aged 42, would then be released from the UFC roster, with many feeling it was the right time for the MMA legend to hang up the gloves.
Previous to this loss, Overeem did produce two good wins over Walt Harris and Augusto Saki but around this time the UFC announced that they would be cutting 60 fighters which saw the likes of Yoel Romero released.
Overeem finished his UFC tenure with 20 fights for the company, having beaten the likes of Brock Lesnar, Junior dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum just to name a few.

MMA legend Alistair Overeem will make the move to professional wrestling at an upcoming Wrestling Entertainment Series event in the UK.
WES recently announced Overeem’s main event matchup with Adam ‘The Titan’ Scherr set for June 4th at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
Overeem was released by the UFC following a loss to Alexander Volkov in Feb. 2021. He then signed a contract to compete in Glory Kickboxing and was originally booked to face heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven last October before withdrawing due to an injury.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour last August, Overeem referred to modern professional wrestling as “fake” and “gay”. It seems that the former UFC heavyweight standout has had a change of heart.
Overeem will face Scherr, a former WWE champion, in his professional wrestling debut. A world woman’s championship between Lina Fanene and C.J. Perry will take the co-main event slot.
Overeem is the latest former UFC fighter to make the move to wrestling. Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos made his wrestling debut last October at an All Elite Wrestling event with Jorge Masvidal in his corner.
It’s unclear if Overeem is officially done with MMA after a career that included stints in the UFC, Strikeforce, and Pride. He earned the Strikeforce heavyweight championship over Paul Buentello back in 2007.
Overeem would go on to enjoy a UFC tenure that included wins over Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, and Fabricio Werdum. Before his most recent loss to Volkov, he had earned back-to-back wins over Augusto Sakai and Walt Harris.
It’s unclear if and when Overeem intends to make his long-awaited Glory Kickboxing debut following his wrestling match in WES.

One of the biggest gripes from both fans and fighters is UFC’s pay rate. With fighters setting up GoFundMes and the current heavyweight champ claiming he has to “borrow money” to get by, critics of fighter pay have had plenty of ammo in recent months.
Former UFC contender Alistair Overeem sympathizes with the athletes but says that at least the promotion pays its athletes what they are contracted for. He went into more detail on a recent episode of Chris Weidman’s Won’t Back Down podcast.
“… Some promotions don’t pay… so, in that regard, UFC always pay their bills. There’s an argument going about fighter pay. You know, I understand it. But they are paying. Other promotions are not paying.”
In 2010, Overeem returned to his roots in kickboxing and won the K-1 Grand Prix. According to “The Reem,” even though he beat some of the best in the world on a huge stage, more than decade later, he still hasn’t been paid for his run through the tournament.
“Well, they [UFC] are absolutely huge, right? – The biggest MMA promotion. But, you know, if I look at the other promotions, okay, K-1 didn’t pay me my prize money. That’s a lot of money. That $400k check, they never wired that.”
After nearly a decade with the UFC, Overeem was released after losing to Alexander Volkov earlier this year. Over the summer it was announced that the Dutch striker had returned to kickboxing, this time, under the Glory banner. He was scheduled to meet Rico Verhoeven last week, but an injury force him from the bout.
