Anthony Joshua Deontay Wilder

After a successful outing against Robert Helenius that ended in a knockout victory, Anthony Joshua is very hungry for a clash with one of the hardest hitters in the game: Deontay Wilder.

“Anytime is a good time to fight. It’s only a fight, don’t matter who it is. It could’ve been Wilder eight years ago, or Wilder now,” Anthony Joshua would say nonchalantly after his victory over Helenius.

The UK boxing phenom has had his busiest year in boxing since 2019, back when he suffered an upset loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. and wanted to run it back as quickly as could be done. Joshua would go on to be victorious in the rematch, and as of now, a trilogy fight has not taken place yet.

Since then, Joshua has maintained a track record of fighting just once a year. He’d go on to pick up wins against the likes of Kubrat Pulev, Jermaine Franklin, and now, Robert Helenius. Next up, If Joshua gets his way, will be Deontay Wilder.

Anthony Joshua wants Deontay Wilder next, focused on smashing his head in

“It is what it is at the end of the day, it’s only a fight, and boxing wins,” Anthony Joshua continued. “So roll on, really. It’s no worry to me when it is. Im just happy we can get the fight going, and I think people appreciate that.”

“I’m doing my best to keep heavyweight boxing on the map. It’s all the same shit. We’re gonna fight and what will be, will be. I can’t look back and say what would be, what would’ve been. I’m just focused on fighting him now. That’s it, that’s what I’m focused on… I’m not trying to compare what would’ve been, that’s a weakness. I’m just focused on smashing his head in now.”

How do you think a fight between Joshua and Deontay Wilder would play out?

Conor McGregor was having the time of his life while attending Saturday’s high-profile boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Robert Helenius.

Returning to the legendary O2 Arena in London, Joshua earned his 26th career win with a vicious seventh-round knockout against short-notice replacement Robert Helenius. Following the bout, Joshua was spotted taking in a celebratory pint or two alongside Irish megastar Conor McGregor.

McGregor was seen throughout the evening cozying up to IBF bantamweight women’s champion Ebanie ‘Blonde Bomber’ Bridges and pouring a pint of his Forged Irish Stout down any throat he could find.

Perhaps the biggest news of the night from McGregor came when he shared a word with Gareth A. Davies before the main event festivities began. McGregor addressed his long-rumored return to the Octagon, revealing that he will be back this December for a scrap against his opposing TUF coach, ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler. Of course, with the Irishman still not re-enrolled in the USADA testing pool, it remains to be seen how the former two-division titleholder plans to pull that off.

Conor McGregor Calls Out KSI, Discusses Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis

Of course, Conor McGregor was far from done, jumping into the ring and taking a shot at another combat sports star in attendance, KSI.

KSI is currently gearing up for a return to the ring in October where he will headline a Misfits boxing event alongside undefeated British standout Tommy Fury. The event will be co-headlined by a grudge match between social media star and PRIME Energy Drink hawker Logan Paul who will meet Conor McGregor’s long-time BJJ coach, Dillon Danis, in a boxing bout.

Speaking backstage at Joshua vs. Helenius, McGregor revealed that he will help train Danis for the fight. Considering his record on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, we’re not sure if that’s something to brag about.

Turning in his second consecutive victory since 2020, former world champion, Anthony Joshua has his first victory by stoppage since that year to boot, finishing Finnish opponent, Robert Helenius with a thunderous one-punch knockout in the seventh round of their headliner in London, England.

Joshua, a former world heavyweight championship holder, had been slated to feature in a headlining clash against former-foe, Dillian Whyte in a rematch tonight in the capital, saw a bout with Helenius come to frution after an “adverse” finding in a drug test sample submitted by Whyte saw the clash cancelled.

Joshua, who managed to return to the winner’s enclosure back in April with a unanimous decision win over Jermaine Franklin, had landed a decision win, having suffered a pair of judging losses of his own in a pair of title fights against Ukrainian favorite, Oleksandr Usyk.

And now pitted to fight former WBC heavyweight kingpin, Deontay Wilder off the back of tonight’s win, Watford native, Anthony Joshua turned in his twenty third career knockout win, defeating Helenius with a spectacular seventh round KO at the ring ropes, landing a thunderous overhand right shot for a stoppage success.

Joshua, a former heavyweight world champion, was scheduled to rematch Whyte in a potential title-eliminator this weekend at The O2 Arena in London, however, Matchroom Boxing confirmed last week that an “adverse” finding discovered in a drug test sample provided by Whyte, would force the scrapping of the pairing, and the ultimate removal of Whyte from the event.

“Confirmed: @anthonyjoshua will now fight The Nordic Nightmare Robert Helenius this Saturday at The O2!” Matchroom Boxing posted on their official X account. “The full undercard takes palace as originally planned…”

Most recently featuring atop a card in the capital back in April of this year, Watford native, Joshua landed a unanimous decision win over American heavyweight, Jermaine Franklin.

The victory returned Joshua to the winner’s enclosure for the first time since a 2020 title defense win over Kubrat Pulev, before consecutive decision losses against Ukrainian world champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

For Helenius, the Finnish heavyweight managed to return to the winner’s enclosure for the first time since a staggering opening round KO loss to former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder back in October of last year in Brooklyn – with a win just last weekend.

Featuring in Savonlinna in his native Finland, Helenius would score a third round round TKO win over Mika Mielonen – securing his twenty-first career knockout victory.
