Polarizing Bellator MMA grappler, Dillon Danis has responded to a recent callout from incoming BKFC signing and former UFC lightweight title challenger, Diego Sanchez — claiming that he doesn’t want to serve jail time for murdering the Albuquerque native if they ever fought each other.

The hugely outspoken, Danis hit the headlines earlier this week after claiming a lucrative offer had been made to former UFC middleweight titleholder, Michael Bisping for a boxing match.

A huge offer has been made to @bisping (Michael Bisping) to box me let’s see if he mans up and takes it.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout then pointed another barb toward Bisping, who had recently been involved in a verbal back-and-forth with his teammate, former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor, in which Danis claimed he would do worse to him than what Dan Henderson managed at UFC 100.

If I ever see @bisping in person I’m doing him worse than Hendo (Dan Henderson) did.

In a rather clear and concise response from Bisping, the UFC Hall of Famer and color commentator informed Danis that he could not box and that encouraged him to grow up.

You (Dillon Danis) cannot box, you cannot fight, you cannot sell tickets, you cannot generate revenue for huge offers,” Bisping replied. “Grow up and stop trying to troll people you utter fool.

The aforenoted Ultimate Fighter 1 victor, Sanchez chimed in during the verbal altercation, calling for his own pairing against grappling standout, Danis.

Box me Dillon (Danis) I’m closer to your size/age & would fight you at any weight in any sport,” Sanchez posted. “You are a BIG GANGSTA WHY DON’T YOU POP YOUR CHERRY AND BARE THOSE BJJ KNUCKLES IN @bareknuckle @DavidFeldman @trillerfight @triller.

In a later response to the New Mexico veteran, Danis urged Sanchez to stay out of the conversation, explaining how he did not want to go to jail for murdering him.

I don’t wanna go to jail for murder stay outta this little guy before you get hurt,” Danis tweeted.

Danis, a two-fight veteran under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner, has been out of action since a Bellator 222 armbar win over Max Humphrey back in June of 2019 — improving to 2-0 in MMA in the process. The 27-year-old underwent reconstructive knee surgery in March of last year and has been out of action since his submission stoppage over Humphrey.

Paige VanZant has opened up about her mental health and detailed how losing to Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19 left her feeling suicidal.

“I’m bummed out. I mean, I’m bummed out to say the least,” Paige VanZant said on the latest episode of “A Kickass Love Story”. Everyone expects me to lose, and everyone expects me to fail. I don’t know, I just feel like people have this specific perception of who I am and especially online. It’s crazy how much people can hate on a single person. I just don’t get it. I pride myself on being a good person, and I think that’s the most important thing for me: I never talk bad about my opponents. I never say a single negative thing about their character. You never know what somebody is going through, and you never know what someone is on the verge of.”

VanZant is now 0-2 in BKFC. The 27-year-old also lost three of her final four UFC fights. Meanwhile, her Bellator MMA fighter husband, Austin Vanderford remains unbeaten and is on the verge of a middleweight title shot.

“I told him I didn’t want to live anymore, that this wasn’t for me anymore,” VanZant said. “Life wasn’t for me anymore. It’s disappointing. It was hard.”

“It can be hard when Austin and I are married, and he keeps winning, and I keep losing,” VanZant added. “But honestly, him and his success is like the only thing that keeps me going, because I do feel like we win together. His next fight will be for a title, and I know he’s gonna win. I just know how good it’s gonna feel for him and for me, and I’m so happy. I’m so proud of him. His title fight to look forward to is all worth it.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Chad Mendes Returns From Retirement, Signs On With BKFC

Chad Mendes is returning to the combat sports world, but it won’t be in MMA.

The Team Alpha Male staple broke the news on the latest edition of the Joe Rogan Experience. He said that he’s excited to try something new and mix it up with the roster BKFC has put together (H/T MMA Junkie).

“I just signed a big contract – I’m coming back to fighting,” Mendes told Rogan. “But I’m not coming back to MMA. … I’m coming back to boxing. I want to try something different. I think we’re going to throw some bareknuckle in there, bro – just mix it up and get real crazy. This is something that’s kind of been in the works for probably a year now.”

MMA Junkie confirmed with an anonymous source that this is indeed “the most lucrative deal” Mendes has ever signed. The former featherweight contender still had fights left on his UFC contract when he retired, but apparently the promotion let him go in order to sign this new deal.

Mendes, who three times challenged for UFC featherweight gold, retired from the sport after a second round TKO defeat to Alexander Volkanovski in December 2018. Prior to that loss, he came back from a 2-year USADA suspension to stop Myles Jury in the first round. ”’Money’ left the sport with an 18-5 record, including 2 losses to Jose Aldo in championship matches, and a loss to Conor McGregor for the interim belt.

The now 36-year-old has kept himself busy outside of the cage, developing a guided fishing and hunting company called Finz and Featherz. However, the appeal of competing once again was obviously too tempting, as Mendes had posted a number of training videos in recent weeks teasing his return.

Mendes said that the organization is currently looking at an October 22 timeline for his debut. The event will apparently take place in Chandler, Arizona, and Mendes will compete at 155-pounds. An opponent has not yet been named.

How do you think Chad Mendes will fare in BKFC? Let us know!
