Despite their timelines being different and the sports they compete in, current UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, revealed his interest to have competed against former Boxing world champion, Prince Naseem Hamed.

‘The Last Stylebender’ will enter the octagon once again in the early hours of Sunday morning when he looks to add a sixth successful title defence to his impressive resume. Faced with his toughest test to date Adesanya will meet former kickboxing foe, Alex Pereira, in the main-event matchup at UFC 281.

A slick striker in himself, Adesanya sits at the pinnacle of the sport in terms of his striking attributes and competes with such a technical style often leaving his opponents questioning their own abilities. One man who shared this ability to bamboozle his opponents is the former WBO, IBF, and WBC featherweight champion and boxing legend, Prince Naseem Hamed.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Adesanya revealed his admiration for the boxing icon and his desire to have been able to test himself against someone of Hamed’s ability.

‘I would have liked to have fought Prince Naseem Hamed. Just because I liked his style, his cadence, his rhythm, his showmanship, everything. So, I would have liked to test myself against that guy.’ (Transcribed by SportsKeeda)

Prince Naseem similarly to Adesanya had only suffered one defeat during his illustrious professional career coming at the hands of fellow Boxing great, Marco Antonio Barrera. Hamed was admired for the way he competed in a water-like state, flowing within the boxing ring, and providing clinical displays much to the displeasure of his opponents.

Israel Adesanya prepared for war at UFC 281

Israel Adesanya has prepared himself to do whatever is necessary to emerge victorious at UFC 281. During his reign at the top of the middleweight division, Adesanya has been near untouchable fending off any and all challengers that have come his way in the 185-pound division.

Now, as he prepares to face a man who has beaten him twice in Alex Pereira, the current middleweight champion has braced himself for war as he aims to avenge his two previous defeats at the hands of the Brazilian.

“I want to make this a horror movie.”

“I want to be the first person he sees when he wakes up. I want to make sure I’m right in his line of sight so he’s looking at me,” Israel Adesanya said.

The Lagos Nigeria native will be looking to exact his revenge and shut the lights out of Pereira as he aims to continue his domination of the middleweight division and silence any of those who still doubt him.

Will Israel Adesanya retain his middleweight title at UFC 281?

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr answered that he respects what Jake Paul is doing, but not who it’s against. He explained:

“A lot of times when you say certain things you don’t want what you say you want. I mean he’s doing good for what he’s doing. You know, like I said, for what he’s doing [Audience laughs].”

On getting called out by ‘The Problem Child,’ ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd said:

“He’s just a lot of talk. It’s different when you’re [facing boxers] at the highest level; once you get in there with a real fighter that can really fight. Is he doing good? Absolutely. Undefeated professional boxer, Jake Paul has added fuel to the fire regarding a potential future fight with former kickboxing champion, Andrew Tate – claiming negotiations for the bout is underway, as the two square off face-to-face in the presence of Paul’s manager, Nikisa Bidarian.

Headlining a Showtime PPV at the end of last month, Paul improved to 6-0 as a professional boxer, scoring a unanimous decision win over former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva – dropping the Brazilian with a right hand in the eight and final round to boot.

As for Tate, the outspoken American-born former kickboxing champion, has not competed in combat sports professionally since 2020, scoring his third consecutive victory in the process.

A vocal social media influencer and marketing strategist who offered paid subscriptions to discord channels on advice on masculinity and how to earn revenue, Tate’s sudden explosion in online presence, has seen him linked to a slew of matchups against the likes of YouTuber and musician, KSI, as well as Logan Paul – the elder brother of the above-mentioned, Jake Paul.

Off the back of his decision win over Silva at the end of last month, Paul was linked with a fight against former UFC welterweight contender, Nate Diaz, as well as calling for a fight with world champion puncher, Canelo Alvarez next.

Conor McGregor Ricky Hatton

The Irish-born superstar Conor McGregor has been out of action for over a year now due to an injury in his last bout. ‘The Notorious’ teased that a comeback in boxing against the legendary British star Ricky Hatton may be on the table.

On Twitter, when posed with the McGregor vs Hatton idea, the Irishman responded:

“Wouldn’t that be something.”

Many fans have proposed a McGregor vs Hatton boxing fight as the English athlete is getting back in shape and looking sharp ahead of his comeback fight on November 12. In his hometown of Manchester, Hatton will look to turn back the clock as he faces Marco Antonio Barrera. Neither Barrera or Hatton have fought in over a decade.

In an interview, Hatton said he is looking to put on a show for the fans. He explained:

“To be able to walk out in front of the fans again in Manchester is a dream for me. I know my days are numbered but it doesn’t matter how old you are, you still have to keep setting yourself targets to get out of bed at four in the morning and train – and that’s what I’ve been doing. … We’ll both be putting on a show for everyone.” [Transcript courtesy of Manchestereveningnews]

Combined, Hatton and Barrera have held numerous world titles including the WBC welterweight world championship, The Ring welterweight title, WBC super featherweight title, among others. Hatton and Barrera may be best known for the matches against all-time greats Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Conor McGregor vs Ricky Hatton?

Conor McGregor made history as a two-division world champion competing in the UFC. The Irish MMA star also had a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017.

‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is currently not in USADA testing pool so a return to the UFC octagon seems less likely. However, a blockbuster boxing showdown against a recognizable name might be the match that makes sense for the Irish fighter.
