[VIDEO] Kimbo Slice Knocks the Bread Out of Brian Green in Dramatic Last-Second KO

(Chill dawg, the video’s after the jump.)

The trail of bodies left in the wake of street-certified pugilist Kimbo Slice led us to Springfield, Missouri, last night, where the fighter formerly known as Kevin Ferguson looked to extend his professional boxing career to a perfect 4-0. Slice, you may recall, was originally slated to face Mike Glenn, but Camp Kimbo pulled out of the bout after not receiving any training footage of the 0-0 boxer. Fortunately for us all, they found an undersized opponent with no pro-boxing experience to fill in at the last-minute.

Brian Green, who competes in MMA as a Middleweight, weighed in some 22lbs lighter than Slice according to the scales at WalMart. In light of Green’s considerable MMA background and Kimbo’s relative inexperience in the world of Marquess of Queensberry, this bout actually ended up being far more competitive than Icy Mike would have preferred.

Video of the come-from-behind knockout, and some words and stuff, after the jump.

Round 4 (via: YouTube/CrazyCNote13)

Green used a combination of speed and actual boxing skill to batter Kimbo’s beard in the first three rounds. The crowd chanted for the ‘underdog’ throughout the fight, though it’s quite possible they were die-hard Afropuff fans thirsty for revenge. Green had noticeably fatigued by the fourth and final frame—that kind of thing can happen when you take a bout on a few days notice—but still dutifully swung them thangs as he looked to put Slice away. Unquestionably behind on the scorecards three rounds to nil, Kimbo charged his opponent as the clock ticked down, capping off a three-punch combination with a short uppercut that dropped Green cold with three seconds left in the match. Done Da-Da.

With the dramatic come from behind knockout, Kimbo extends his pro-boxing record to a flawless 4-0, with three wins coming via KO. Whatever $kala touches turns to gold.

Not That It Really Matters, But Kimbo Slice Will Be Boxing Brian Green on Saturday

(Props: crazycnote13)

After Kimbo Slice‘s scheduled boxing match against Mike Glenn fell through when Glenn didn’t send him the fight-footage he required — a rather unique thing for a fighter to have in his contract, but whatever — promoter Wes Slay has found a replacement opponent to throw them bungalows against the Miami Pound Machine tomorrow night. Slice will now be facing off against Brian Green, a middleweight MMA fighter with a record of 27-17. All of Green’s 27 victories have come by stoppage, with 22 by submission, which is completely irrelevant since this will be a boxing match. From what I can tell, Green doesn’t have any pro boxing experience, certainly not against guys who outweigh him by 40-50 pounds.

The match will go down Saturday evening at the “Fight Night Returns” MMA/boxing card at the O’Reilly Family Event Center in Springfield, Missouri. Assuming you have better things to do than watch the press-conference video above, we’ll break down the highlights for you:

0:08-0:12: I guarantee you that the white-haired old lady was only there for the free coffee at Reliable Chevrolet, and probably jumped out of her seat when Kimbo emerged from the back.

1:57-2:28: According to Slay, Brian Green is “one of the top, elite MMA fighters in all the world,” with a “winning record against fighters currently in the UFC.” Okay, this is kind of funny. Slay is technically correct, in that Green is 1-0 against active UFC fighters, with a 2006 armbar win over Nik Lentz. Against fighters who used to be in the UFC, he’s a somewhat-less-impressive 0-8, with losses to Brock Larson, Chad Reiner, Joe Vedepo, Paul Georgieff, Crafton Wallace, Rob Kimmons, Rory Markham, and Nick Thompson.

3:05-3:24: Kimbo sends out a tweet — “stuck n missuri surrounded by white ppl FML”

4:14-4:35: Brian Green compares himself to David (of David & Goliath fame). Does that mean he gets to bring a slingshot to the ring? Because otherwise, he’s fucked.

4:52-5:29: The Half Pint Brawlers are introduced to the crowd. An excited lady near the camera yells “Heck yeah! Yeah! Oh God, YEAH!” Nobody loves midgets more than that lady.

6:12-6:29: Kimbo Slice addresses the crowd with “Sup, Springfield.” And that’s it — that’s the extent of his verbal commitment for this press conference. “A man of few words,” deadpans Wes Slay.

After a 20-minute autograph signing, Kimbo left to go eat lunch, breaking the hearts of dozens of children. Don’t turn your back on Springfield, Ferg. That town will make you, and it can break you.

Breaking: Kimbo Slice Pulls Out of March 24 Boxing Bout, But Still Wants Different Fight On Card

(U mad?)

If you bought a ticket to see Kimbo Slice attempt to extend his professional boxing record to 4-0 with a win over Mike Glenn on March 24, you might want to get yourself a refund — that is unless you want to watch him fight a lesser opponent instead.

CagePotato.com has learned from a source close to Glenn who contacted us Tuesday afternoon that Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, has bowed out of the bout. According to the source the former UFC fighter allegedly told the promoter that he would still participate in the event if they found him another opponent, but explicably stated that he did not want to fight Glenn.

Now the promoter is scrambling to find an opponent for Glenn, a Strikeforce vet who holds a 5-6 record in MMA, who was to make his boxing debut against Slice in the main event of the show in front of his hometown crowd at the O’Reilly Center in Springfield, Missouri in less than two weeks. FYI, the only stoppage on Glenn’s MMA record was a doctor stoppage due to a cut, so maybe Kimbo didn’t like the odds of knocking him out.

Glenn posted the following statement on his Facebook page moments ago:

“Just [want] to tell everybody that bought tixs to see me fight kimbo that he has back[ed] out of the fight… Uh, don’t know why but he has pulled out. He is still on the card, but he wants to fight someone else… Huh, weird!!! To all the people that bought tix to see me I’m sorry, it’s not my doing. Just thought I would let u all know.”

We’ll have more info as we get it, but this news doesn’t help legitimize Slice’s pugilistic career and reputation as a can-crusher. It does add to his recent double-cross experience on his resume.

Way to screw the promoter, fans and the friends and family of your opponent who were all excited for this fight, Mr. Slice. Looks like Gary Shaw was right about him.

Can’t wait to hear what $kala has to say about this one.

Chisora Slapped With Fine and Indefinite Ban by WBC for Slap On Klitschko, Brawl With and Death Threat to Haye

The World Boxing Council yesterday handed down a stiff punishment to heavyweight Derek Chisora for what they have termed “one of the worst behaviors ever by a professional boxer” in the months and days leading up to and the hours after his February 18 championship bout with Vitali Klitschko in Munich.

Besides the usual smack talk, Chisora not only slapped the champ’s face at the weigh-ins the day before the fight, he left the dais at the post-fight press conference and bum-rushed David Haye. When Haye got the better of him in the ensuing exchange, the infuriated  Zimbabwe-born, UK-raised fighter declared that he was going to get a gun and kill the brash British fighter for “glassing him” with the Corona bottle he was holding when he dropped Chisora.

In actuality, the bottle never made contact with Chisora’s face, but the neck would have reinforced Haye’s fist like a roll of quarters.

Here’s part of the statement released last night by the WBC:

The WBC is absolutely condemning behaviors that are not to be accepted in boxing under any circumstances and will act as soon as it can proceed to impose the fines and sanctions as we consider necessary.

The WBC is imposing a serious fine to be finally determined after the hearing to be held under the supervision of our counsel representative attorney Stephen Beverly , the WBC will also take off from the WBC rankings, the name of Derek Chisora and declare an indefinite suspension against fighting again for a WBC title, while demanding Chisora to take an anger management medical treatment after which his suspension will be reconsidered.

Klitschko addressed Chisora’s seemingly escalating antics back in 2010:

“It’s not about getting me angry. It’s about the behavior of this man. The way he was raised was probably questionable. The way he behaves himself — that he bites in the fights the ear a couple of times that I saw,” Klitschko explained. “He beats up his girlfriend who cannot punch back. Chisora as a fighter, I think he’s talented and I think he’s better than David Haye. Chisora as a person, I think he is garbage.”

Can’t say we disagree.
