Francis Ngannou claims he's heard Anthony Joshua has no chin ahead of March boxing match

Former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou claims he has heard from sources that incoming foe and former two-time heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua has a questionable ability to take a shot – to say the very least.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight titleholder under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined since he made his professional boxing debut back in August in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, forcing current WBC heavyweight best, Tyson Fury the distance in a hard-fought and controversial decision loss.

As for Joshua, the Watford native turned in his third victory in as many fights back in December, stopping Otto Wallin with a vicious onslaught, forcing his corner to stop the bout between rounds.

And earlier this week, reports confirmed that Ngannou would be making his sophomore outing in the squared circle, taking on former world champion, Joshua in a professional boxing match.

Francis Ngannou weighs up Anthony Joshua matchup

Sharing his thoughts on his matchup with the British striker, Ngannou claimed that he would be confident of not only fighting the former’s chin, but also keeping him on the canvas if he landed him there.

“The day is set,” Francis Ngannou told MMA Fighting. “It’s two months from now, and if any of them think they are going to have easy money, too bad for them. If AJ (Anthony Joshua) takes the punch that (Tyson) Fury took, I don’t guarantee that he’s [getting back] up. I have heard that he doesn’t have a chin. I’m going to find out.”

“I think he’s still the same fighter,” Francis Ngannou explained. “Being the same fighter doesn’t mean you can’t lose. He lost to Andy Ruiz. He lost to Oleksandr Usyk and he can still lose. By the way, I’m really intending to hand him a loss on March 8. You can still be who you are, but still lose. Nobody is undefeated.”

Jorge Masvidal backed to make boxing move rather than fight at UFC 300 I'd say he's fighting boxing

Amid links to a return to combat sports in a blockbuster UFC 300 feature in April, former two-time welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has been linked with a professional boxing move instead, by American Top Team teammate, Renato Moicano, who provided some details on the Miami native’s recent training regime.

Masvidal, a former two-time undisputed welterweight title challenger and inaugural symbolic BMF championship winner, called time on his storied mixed martial arts career just eight months ago at UFC 284 in his native Florida.

Suffering his fourth consecutive defeat in the form of a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns, Masvidal has since switched his focus entirely to promoting his bare knuckle fighting promotion, Gamebred Fighting Championships.

However, earlier this week, Masvidal claimed he was “unretired” across his social media – leading to links to fights against a slew of opponents including Nate Diaz, as well as namely, Leon Edwards in a grudge match – or a BMF title charge against Justin Gaethje.

Jorge Masvidal backed for boxing debut

As far as Brazilian contender, Moicano is concerned, however, a mixed martial arts comeback for Masvidal seems unlikely, who appears to be limiting his training entirely to the striking arts – strictly boxing, in fact.

“I see a lot of people saying that Jorge Masvidal is fighting [at] UFC 300,” Renato Moicano said on his YouTube channel. “But, I’m not sure about that. I’m not even sure if he will fight MMA [again]. Yesterday, I saw Masvidal at American Top Team. But, he was not training wrestling.”

“I saw him training boxing every day,” Moicano explained. “Every day, hitting the bags, hitting the pads, working on drills. So, I’m not sure if he’s fighting boxing or not, but if I could guess, and if I could bet my house, I’d say he’s fighting boxing.”

Do you expect Jorge Masvidal to venture back to the Octagon at UFC 300?

Sidelined since he made his professional boxing debut back in October in Riyadh, PFL (Professional Fighters League) signed heavyweight, Ngannou made his first venture to the squared circle in a ten round fight with WBC heavyweight kingpin, Tyson Fury, dropping a controversial split decision loss.

Heralded for his performance in his first-ever professional boxing outing, Cameroonian knockout ace, Ngannou landed a stunning knockdown on the Morecambe native, before dropping a dubious decision loss in Saudi Arabia.

As for Joshua, the former two-time heavyweight world champion is in the midst of an impressive three-fight winning run, compiled over the course of last year, most recently stopping Otto Wallin with a corner’s stoppage TKO win in Riyadh, as part of a ‘Day of Reckoning’ billed card for the country.

Yet to make his promotional bow with the PFL, Ngannou’s most recent outing in mixed martial arts came in the form of a unanimous decision win over then-interim heavyweight champion, defending and unifying his title at UFC 270 back in January 2022 in Anaheim, California. The outing came as Ngannou’s last on his Octagon contract, which expired at the beginning of last year to boot.

Francis Ngannou reflects on UFC exit this business can be nasty

Former undisputed heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has reflected on his departure from the UFC last year once more, claiming some of the practices in combat sports are “nasty” to say the least – as he gears up for a sophomore boxing walk later this annum.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion, departed the UFC at the beginning of last year, following the completion of his contractual obligations with the organization the December prior.

Signing with the PFL (Professional Fighters League) in the immediate aftermath of exit from the UFC, Ngannou, who has yet to make a walk under the North American-based promotion’s banner.

Making a long-anticipated professional boxing debut in August of last year, Batié knockout artist, Ngannou shared the ring with unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, forcing the Morecambe native the distance in a close, split decision loss – as well as landing a stunning knockdown.

And reflecting on his departure from the organization, Ngannou spoke on negotiations with the UFC, and the struggles of navigating a “nasty” business within combat sports.

“I had a lot of controversial opinions about my career decisions because most of those things was about my career this year,” Francis Ngannou said on his YouTube channel. “Then negotiations with different organizations that were interested. A lot of them were just trying to navigate the narrative and potentially get some promotion. We have a lot of different people – some two faces.”

“It’s part of the business and that’s something that I learned this year – how this business can be nasty. You have people who pretend to be something that they are not,” Francis Ngannou explained. “But it’s a good part of the learning process. Becoming a fighter and stepping into that position is something you are not educated about. Most fighters never get educated, and that’s why for the most part, fighters keep getting screwed.”

Former two-time undisputed welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has been backed to take on fellow UFC veteran, Nate Diaz in a professional boxing rematch following last night’s revelation that he was now “unretired” from combat sports, according to professional boxer, Jake Paul – who also staked his claim for a shot at the Floridian.

The defeat followed a grudge match loss to former American Top Team training partner and close-friend, Colby Covington, as well as a championship series with Kamaru Usman, which Jorge Masvidal first dropped a decision, and then subsequent rematch knockout loss.

And amid links to a potential comeback against the likes of former foe, Ben Askren, and a BKFC fight with fellow former UFC welterweight contender, Mike Perry, overnight, Masvidal claimed he was “unretired” on his official social media, leading fans to play matchmaker and speculate on his fighting future.

However, as far as the above-mentioned Ohio native, Paul is concerned, Masvidal is set to fight the above-mentioned Stockton veteran, Diaz in a professional boxing rematch – before urging him to score a fight against him, only if UFC CEO, Dana White allows it.
