The anticipation and hype for this weekend’s (Sat., July 9, 2016) UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is about to reach an all-time high, and that was only furthered by today’s UFC 200 press conference featuring the main stars of arguably the greatest card in MMA history.

Our friends at Submission Radio were on hand to catch the post-conference staredowns. First, hulking beast Brock Lesnar faced off with iron-chinned and concrete-fisted power puncher Mark Hunt heading into their co-main event bout:

Then, light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier faced off against archrival and interim champ Jon Jones for what seems like the millionth time, and not surprisingly, things got heated again:

Finally, UFC women’s bantamweight champion faced off with top challenger Amanda Nunes:

Brock Lesnar Reveals He Drank Two Kinds Of Beer After UFC 100

He may be stepping into the Octagon against arguably the hardest puncher in MMA history when he faces off against Mark Hunt in the co-main event of Saturday night’s (July 9, 2016) blockbuster UFC 200 from Las Vegas, but former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar doesn’t seem to be all that scared or nervous at all.

In fact, Lesnar was all smiles during today’s UFC 200 press conference, and much of that is most likely due to his excitement at coming back to test his true mettle in the UFC after his wildly successful career was initially cut short by a long, brutal battle with diverticulitis.

“The Beast” apparently contacted UFC President Dana White about a return to MMA in order to prove himself, and his return for a bout with “The Super Samoan” was unveiled at June 4’s UFC 199. With Lesnar’s return certain, Yahoo’s Kevin Iole asked the popular pro wrestling champion if any concerns about his health remained, to which Lesnar responded in annoyed fashion:

“Well, I think it was like day 49 after I left. Like, I can’t remember the exact hour (rolls eyes).  I feel f****n’ awesome. Why does it matter? I’m here.”

Pressed to answer if the same issues had hindered him during his wrestling days, Lesnar put the questions about his health to bed with the following, noting that he was simply basking in the glow of the soon-to-be epic UFC 200:

“My health is behind me. I’m sittin’ here at UFC 200 soaking it all in. No, I feel great. It’s good to be here, it’s good to be back. There’s nothing else to say. It’s just, I’m here, I feel great; that’s it.”

Then the topic of his WWE pro-wrestling career not surprisingly came up. With Lesnar’s UFC return supposedly a one-off opportunity and him slated to headline August’s WWE Summerslam PPV, Lesnar couldn’t commit to another UFC bout in the future even if he does win on July 9:

“I guess that’s not a question for that’s a question for Vince McMahon, right? So I don’t know. We’ll get through Saturday and see what happens, I have no idea. After Saturday, I think I’m booked for August, so I don’t know. We’ll get through Saturday, we’ll see what happens.”

Finally, Lesnar got the crowd riled up by discussing his favorites memories of 2009’s UFC 100, where, after a thrilling TKO win over archnemesis Frank Mir, Lesnar famously blasted the UFC’s official beer sponsor for not paying him, causing a bit of a controversy and further increasing his already substantial star power. Lesnar recalled that scene fondly:

“I got lots of memories, but I guess the one that sticks out the most is solidifying my heavyweight championship, avenging a loss against Frank Mir, being very excited to get my hand raised and the end, and saying some things that were very memorable.”

Actually probed to what kind of beer he did drink to celebrate that monumental win over Mir, and Lesnar replied with an answer that may get him in more hot water with UFC officials (Dana White asked for that particular reporter to stop asking him questions at that point):

“I actually had two different kinds that night. One for the public to see and me to actually enjoy.”

UFC 200 Embedded Episode 3: Mark Hunt’s Gameplan For Brock Lesnar

With only a few short days remaining until this weekend’s (Sat., July 9, 2016) UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the UFC rolls on with third episode of its Embedded V-log series for the blockbuster event.

To kick things off, heavyweight fan favorite slugger Mark Hunt reveals his gameplan for the returning Brock Lesnar, which not surprisingly involves punching “The Beast” in the face. Even “The Super Samoan” admits it’s the simplest gameplan ever as he dives into a pre-fight feast on the grill.

Back in Las Vegas, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate goes to see her hypnotherapist to get her mind right for her upcoming title bout against top contender Amanda Nunes. Light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier finalizes his training at his home base of American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) before cheating on his weight cut just a little at home.

Meanwhile, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Cormier’s arch rival Jon Jones takes an Uber (finally) to a swimming pool and his strength gym on July 4 as part of his last training sessions for his pivotal 205-pound title match-up with “DC.” Interim featherweight title contender Frankie Edgar does the same on the beach in New Jersey.

Finally, returning beast Brock Lesnar tries on his fight gloves to meet Mark Hunt, with the XXXXL not fitting the WWE superstar’s hands. Lesnar then does some interviews and signs fight posters for UFC 200 while discussing his desire to return to the Octagon. Ever the outspoken joker, Lesnar offers Tate an opportunity to spoon with him as space is tight in the signing room.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is all set to make his comeback at UFC 200 this coming Saturday July 9. The bulky beast from the realms of pro wrestling had some great success during his first run as a mixed martial artist between 2006-2011, but it’s fair to say the 265-pound division was a vastly different landscape at that time. Of course size and strength are still very much up there in terms of prerequisites for a heavyweight star, but there’s so much more to the game now.

Having spent the last five years in the WWE ring, how will Lesnar fare against the single most dangerous striker in the UFC right now? Although the promotional material on Lesnar for UFC 200 does not shy away from he fact he’s been away from fighting for a very long time, the videos also do not point out the fact that it’s an extremely dangerous and potentially ill fated gamble.

Brock Lesnar 5

Lesnar’s zenith in the mixed martial arts world came in the form of a four-fight win streak between August 2008 and July 2010, outside of that he went 1-1 in his first two, and lost his last two to wind up with a 5-3 record as of his retirement in 2011. It’s well documented that his battle with diverticulitis nearly cost the WWE star his life, and certainly hindered his efforts in training camp, also potentially in his last few fights too. So what’s the story behind Lesnar’s MMA comeback?

Was he really just desperate to get some closure on his fighting career, as stated in his recent promotional interviews, or was this a case of Dana White shuffling things around when Conor McGregor dropped off the card. The last minute nature of the announcement of Lesnar’s return could back that story up, but whatever the case, ‘The Beast’s’ second foray in to the land of legitimate combat is, as previously mentioned, risky on many fronts.

Brock Lesnar Beaten

It’s no secret that Brock Lesnar really doesn’t like getting hit, he spoke openly about it in 2010, and that’s what makes his pairing with ‘The Super Samoan’ so surprising. If this wasn’t a ‘one time deal,’ would the ex-champ be facing such a high calibre opponent who possesses such a kryptonite style upon his return? Or perhaps the truth is the prospect of watching such a huge man face his biggest weakness is just that much more appealing than anything less.

The question of Brock’s stock in the pro wrestling world has also been raised. A starching at the hands of Hunt could surely do no good for his marketability in the WWE, as mentioned by Stephanie McMahon recently, although Lesnar himself admitted he ‘doesn’t really give a sh*t’ about that. Maybe the pay check is enough to make Lesnar cut off his nose to spite his face. All of this said, are we overlooking the one massive strength that Lesnar has in hoards?

Brock Lesnar Herring

The wrestling pedigree mixed with sheer size and physical prowess has never been more apparent than with Brock Lesnar. He was the first UFC fighter to ever require XXXXL glove sizing in history, just an interesting factoid really, but when you look back over his years of collegiate wrestling you can see why he was noticed from an early age. A man of such size who also has the ability to toss you around is extremely dangerous in close quarters, and a knockout artist who doesn’t have both feet on the ground is pretty much castrated.

Lesnar’s dabbling with the UFC after so much time on the sidelines is of course an exciting prospect, made even more so by the huge risks in play, but we know anything can happen once the octagon door shuts. Perhaps it really would have been best for his health to stay in the WWE, but the same could be said for seasoned fighters, there’s always danger when fighting professionally.

Somewhere, deep down, this writer secretly wishes for a crazy win for Brock Lesnar, in truth, he’s very likely to have his face pulverised by the hardest puncher in UFC history.

Bring it on!

Brock Lesnar Fires Back At Steroid Accusations With Humorous Response

Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature plain and simple. The former UFC heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) professional wrestler has a monstrous physique, and it’s understandable why many have questioned whether or not that physique came naturally given that there simply aren’t many people built like “The Beast”.

With that being said, questions and criticisms regarding drug testing stirred up quite quickly when Lesnar announced that he would be making his return to fighting at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Under the new USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) guidelines, a fighter coming out of retirement must be submitted into the testing pool four months prior to when he or she plans on competing. Announcing his return just weeks before the July 9th show, this wasn’t an option for Lesnar so the UFC handed him an exception.

Perhaps it’s clear why the masses would be worried about the situation, but Lesnar has indeed been tested an insane amount of times in his short stint in the USADA pool. “The Beast” has also never failed a drug test. In fact, he’s been dealing with these questions his whole life.

On a recent UFC 200 media call that took place yesterday (June 31, 2016), Lesnar fired back at the steroid accusations with a humorous and simple response:

“I’ve been dealing with that my entire life,” Lesnar said during yesterday’s UFC 200 media conference call (via MMA Junkie). “What do you want me to say? I’m a white boy and I’m jacked, deal with it.”

Well, there you have it. As Lesnar said, perhaps he really just is ‘jacked’, and until a failed drug test says otherwise, we may need to lay off of the former heavyweight champion, and simply enjoy his return.

There have been few bigger stars than Lesnar in the history of the sport, and in just over a week we will see him clash with slugger Mark Hunt in the co-main event of arguably the biggest card of all-time.

That’s something special.

The monumental UFC 200 card is just over a week away as the event is slated for July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Featuring three title fights and some of the biggest names in the sport, UFC 200 could very well could go down as the biggest card in promotional history.

One fight that has stuck out lies in the co-main event slot, as former UFC heavyweight champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) performer Brock Lesnar will make his highly-anticipated return to action against knockout artist. Mark Hunt. Despite being one of the biggest draws in the history of the sport, Lesnar, who main evented UFC 100, won’t headline the show, as the main attraction features a long-awaited rematch between Daniel Cormier and pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones.

Jones will attempt to recapture the light heavyweight title he lost to trouble with the law rather than an opponent, and get back to ruling the division. A few more defenses of the strap likely remain for Jones if he topples Cormier, but Lesnar’s future with the UFC is unclear after July 9th.

One interesting suggestion that came from an MMA insider on Twitter earlier today (June 29, 2016) was that Jones, who has touched upon a potential jump to heavyweight in the past, and Lesnar do battle next if both come out victorious:

While this thought may seem a bit outlandish and unrealistic, Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, replied to the tweet saying that he ‘could see’ the potentially massive clash taking place:

Would you be interesting in seeing the pound-for-pound king dance with “The Beast”?
