Floyd Mayweather rips former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor and boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in his latest rant. Another day, another story, another time that the boxing legend gets his name mentioned online.

This week Mayweather has been quite opinionated about any topic that he sees he can make some money on. Whether its a potential showdown against UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov in a boxing ring to a rematch against McGregor that would also take place in the world of boxing. Mayweather is letting his feelings known to the world.

There is some history between Mayweather and Alvarez as Mayweather beat him back in 2013 and claimed it was the easiest fight of his career. Apparently now, he says that it includes his fight against the UFC’s superstar.

Alvarez went on record by telling TMZ Sports that he would like to have a rematch against Mayweather in order to settle their feud once and for all.

Floyd Mayweather Rips

Mayweather would later take to social media where he shared a photo from their fight with the caption, “It didn’t matter if Canelo ate his PED steak or not this night, this was by far the easiest fight of my career!”

This was a shot at Alvarez who tested positive PED test before the rematch against GGG. It turns out that Alvarez blamed the failed drug test on tainted Mexican beef. Floyd then took a shot at McGregor by calling him “Connor McQuitter” and that he was a way better fighter than Alvarez, who cheated. According to Mayweather, he would beat the breaks off him as well.

This is when money became a topic as he brought up Canelo’s new $365 million contract with DAZN, which requires Canelo to take 11 fights in 5 years.

“It takes me 36 mins or less to make $300 million plus. It literally takes me 1 night and 1 fight to make what you might make in 5 years and 11 fights! So really, who’s still winning? You do the math!”

Boxing megastar Canelo Alvarez just inked a huge broadcasting deal with DAZN streaming service.

Alvarez is currently the unified middleweight champion of boxing, coming off a majority decision win over Gennady Golovkin last month. The fight was the last of his broadcast deal with HBO, who recently announced they’ll be exiting the boxing game after several decades.

Golden Boy Promotions’ Oscar De La Hoya had announced that negotiations to find Canelo a new home would be getting underway immediately – and he wasn’t lying. While most fans assumed Alvarez would jump to now-former HBO Boxing rival, Showtime, the Canelo camp opted to go a different route.

ESPN has reported that Alvarez inked a five-year, 11-fight, $365 million broadcast deal with DAZN. The streaming service just debuted in the United States in May, but has been up and running since 2016. DAZN has been on quite a rise as of late, already having streamed several Bellator MMA events, as well as boxing matches featuring the likes of Anthony Joshua.

The broadcast deal is the richest contract signed by an athlete since New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. He had signed a 13-year, $325 million deal with the Miami Marlins in 2014. De La Hoya concealed that Alvarez is “extremely happy” being the highest-paid athlete in the world.

While Alvarez enjoys his new deal, he will make his return to the ring in December. The Mexican is challenging Rocky Fielding for the super middleweight championship. This would be Canelo’s first title at a new weight class.

Canelo Alvarez will jump up to super middleweight to challenge for a new divisional title.

Last month (Sat. September 15, 2018) Canelo defeated Gennady Golovkin via majority decision to become the unified middleweight champion of the world. As promised, he will fight once more before the year’s end.

The Mexican star will make his Madison Square Garden debut on December 15th. He will take on Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) for the super middleweight championship. Fielding won the title back in July via fifth-round TKO over Tyron Zeuge.

Canelo took to social media to make the news official:

“I’m very excited to announce my next fight. Next December 15th at the New York MSG,” Alvarez said. “Taking a big challenge. I will fight for the world title at 168 pounds versus Rocky Fielding, the current WBA champion!”

Alvarez had been eying a December 15th bout even before he fought GGG in September. The 28-year-old only suffered a bad cut during his fight with the knockout artist, but his doctor has said he’ll be fine to fight come December. Alvarez also has a big business decision to make.

His fight with GGG was the last of his contract with HBO. HBO recently announced that they will be leaving the boxing business after 45 years. Golden Boy Promotions’ Oscar De La Hoya had said following the GGG fight that HBO would get the first crack at negotiations to sign Canelo.

With news that HBO is leaving boxing behind, it should be interesting to see who, arguably, the biggest star in boxing signs with next.
