Floyd Mayweather Sr. Threatens To ‘Beat Conor McGregor’s A**’

There were a myriad of newsworthy headlines at today’s Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour kickoff presser from Los Angeles, ranging from McGregor predicting an early knockout and calling Mayweather scared of MMA to “Money” stating he would fight the ‘Notorious’ Irishman with only four-ounce gloves on.

But more drama continued to develop behind the scenes, and as predicted for a boxing mega-match of this magnitude, and one of the more interesting ones came when Mayweather’s father Floyd Sr. crashed McGregor’s media scrum immediately after the media conference.

Apparently, Mayweather Sr. had enough of McGregor’s mouth after they were jawing during the staredown ending the press conference, something McGregor addressed during his scrum:

“The old man came — and I don’t know who’s who, I got confused — but the old man came and he was saying some stuff,” McGregor said regarding his stare down with Mayweather Jr. “So whatever, I don’t know.”

This got the elder Mayweather’s attention, and he ran onto the interview’s filming to call out his son’s current foe. Check it out courtesy of MMA Fighting:

Mayweather Sr. was irate, offering a straight threat to bludgeon McGregor outside of the ring before his son had a chance to:

“Like what, son?” Mayweather Sr. shouted. “I will beat your ass, I will beat your ass.”

So after a massively awaited event, where the hype and spectacle of this so-called ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ bout was set on a course headed for an out-of-control fever pitch as the late summer day draws near, many are actually giving Mayweather the first round in the war of words between combat sports’ two biggest names. And now Mayweather’s father wants to throw down with the UFC’s front man as well.

Something tells me he’ll be answering back in force at tomorrow’s second press conference tour stop in Toronto.

McGregor’s fellow UFC fighters were watching alongside the rest of the combat sports world, check out what they had to say!

Both men had a chance to take the mic and address the crowd as well as each other.

McGregor made sure to mention Mayweather’s recent IRS troubles, while “Money” pulled out a $100 million check to make his case that he’s far from broke.

The two got into a heated stare down where both men jawed at each other for minutes until finally being separated.

Today’s press conference was in Los Angeles, while the tour will continue in Toronto next, then on to Brooklyn and London for the weekend.

Mayweather and McGregor will finally step into the ring on August 26 in an highly anticipated boxing match between the best boxer and one of the best mixed martial artists of all time.

Looking back at an observant tweet from VERSUS (via MMA Fighting), McGregor indeed has his message for ‘Money’ woven al the way into his suit, as they pointed out his blue number had an endless string of ‘fuck yous’ stitched into the pinstripes. Check it out:

The whirlwind of promotion for a bout that could rank as the biggest in combats sports history is set to kick off when the first press event of the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour spanning four cities and three countries airs live today (Tues., July 11, 2017) from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California at 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST.

Of course, Conor McGregor, MMA’s biggest star and the only simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history, will be on hand to unleash his revered smack talk on by far his biggest-ever foe, the 49-0 all-time great “Money,” who has barely been hit cleanly throughout his undefeated career, let alone ko’ed. The much younger McGregor has obviously been saying he’s going to do just that.

Much has been made over Mayweather’s reasons for coming out of retirement to box UFC champion Conor McGregor.

All-time great “Money” retired after a lackluster decision win over Andre Berto in 2015, capping off an undefeated career as one of the most lucrative – and polarizing – champions in boxing history.

Then news broke yesterday that the all-time boxing great had filed for a petition to pay installments for his blockbuster match with Manny Pacquiao two year ago where he earned a monstrous payday. That lead to suggestions that he needs the pay from McGregor to pay off those installments.

However, Mayweather took to Instagram on Monday night to dispel any idea that he’s broke and only fighting McGregor because he needs the money.

Check out what “Money” Mayweather had to say to his detractors!

“Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear, especially when it comes to media in this country. While everyone is counting my money and assuming the worst, these are the facts… Uncle Sam received $26 million from me in 2015. What else could they possibly want? I’m sure I would have Brennan notified much sooner if there were any real discrepancies right?

Bottom line is everybody wants to be a part of the “Money May” show, including the IRS, and that’s fine. You can crunch numbers all day but in the end my empire is rock solid and intact! Now calculate that!”

Mayweather pulled in nearly $300 million for the Pacquiao bout in 2015 in a fight that was billed as fight of the century.

While that bout didn’t live up to expectations, Mayweather clearly cashed out.

In his Instagram post from Monday night, Mayweather posted pictures of checks he had written for $24 million and several other checks for $1 million, all to the Treasury Department.

Do you believe Mayweather now that he has posted proof of his 2015 taxes? Or is this just another slick move in “Money’s” arsenal of flashiness?

It looks like the first leg of the awaited Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather world tour will be without one of MMA’s biggest media personalities.

With the hype and trash talk set to get started today from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, at 5:30 p.m. EST /2:30 p.m. PST, lines are reportedly out the door for the anticipated event. But when the questions do start from the press, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani will apparently not be with them.

Helwani just tweeted that he would no longer be working for SHOWTIME Sports as the UFC specifically requested to have him removed from the opening leg of the tour, after which he expressed his disappointment at their decision:

Helwani also revealed that he had taken a late flight from New York City to be in L.A. for the tour, and was dealt the news when he arrived. Even with that disappointment, however, he reassured fans he would be at future tour stops in Toronto and New York:

If you’ll remember, Helwani’s beef with the UFC runs deep, and he was notoriously barred from covering last year’s UFC 199, also in Los Angeles, when he broke the massive story that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was returning at the landmark UFC 200 hours before it was to be officially announced during the pay-per-view (PPV) main card.

He then opened up about his tepid past with the UFC in an emotional segment on his weekly show “The MMA Hour” the following Monday, discussing his tenuous-at-best relationship with the previous UFC regime and adding that it even once became physical became him, Dana White, and Lorenzo Fertitta.

It appears that dislike for Helwani’s style of journalism has carried over into the new regime, as well.
