After the whole UFC 200 fiasco that saw featherweight champion Conor McGregor pulled from his scheduled rematch with Nate Diaz, who submitted him at March 5’s UFC 196, the Irishman finally met with the UFC brass yesterday (May 19, 2016), and it’s expected that his next fight will be announced in the shortly.

UFC President Dana White has previously said that McGregor will next face the winner of UFC 200’s interim 145-pound title fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar, but the “Notorious” one has seemed adamant on getting his revenge on Diaz.

We’ll just have to wait and see who the UFC will call on next to meet the Irish knockout artist, but returning UFC lightweight Gilbert Melendez feels as if McGregor should steer clear of Diaz.

Melendez, a teammate of Diaz’s, recently said that he doesn’t see the potential rematch going any different. He did note that McGregor may try to stick and move more, but “El Nino” ultimately sees Diaz once again submitting the Irishman:

“I don’t see it going any differently. I see Conor, if he does fight him again, he fights like the smaller man. He’ll try to stick and move and try to kick out Nate’s front leg and try to take his shots. Ultimately, Nate will stand strong, he’ll eventually walk him down, he’ll start landing the 1-2 and we’ll see the same finish,” Melendez told FOX Sports.

“Maybe a little bit later because Conor’s going to use his footwork to dance around and maybe not try to stand in the pocket as much.

Melendez will make his comeback against Edson Barboza in July after serving out a suspension due to a failed drug test.

As for McGregor and Diaz, do you see the two rivals going at it again in the near future?

As noted, UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor met with UFC President Dana White this week regarding their recent issues. Shortly after the meeting, White posted a “smiley face” on social media. Meanwhile, McGregor took part in the interview seen above.

McGregor spoke with ESPN’s Kenny Mayne about his meeting with the UFC boss man on Wednesday evening.

“Good conversation like it always is,” McGregor said of the meeting. “We have a good relationship. It is what it is. It happens. This is the fight game. Sometimes emotions get into it. But it’s important to recognize that emotions have no place in business. That’s essentially what it was last night. We just set it aside. There’s no place for emotions in this. We are doing beautiful things. So let’s continue. Let’s fix it and let’s continue.”

When asked by Mayne where on a football field his current relationship with White and Lorenzo Fertitta would be, McGregor’s razor-sharp wit returned.

“Sitting in the middle,” McGregor replied. “In a good place.”

When pressed by Mayne and asked if things between he and the UFC are better than before, McGregor stated the following.

“Yeah, of course,” McGregor said. “Of course.”

UFC President Dana White and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor have finally reunited after their beef over the Irishman’s refusal to attend the Las Vegas press event to promote his now-scrapped UFC 200 headliner against Nate Diaz.

McGregor and White headed upstairs of the Montage Hotel in Beverley Hills, followed by three huge bodyguards, for a private dinner to discuss ‘big business’ as McGregor likes to call it.
According to sources via TMZ, the two men ‘hugged when they first met’ however it was ‘a very aggressive embrace … the kind you could hear from down the hall.’

The two-hour meeting seemed to go well as McGregor left the meeting with a huge smile on his face, along with White later posting a happy Instagram pic with UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta:

It looks as thought the two sides have settled their differences and an announcement regarding McGregor’s next opponent could be near. The possibilities for the Irishman’s next opponent are endless as there are many ways the 145-pound champ could go.

The rematch that was originally planned between Nate Diaz is certainly a possibility, as McGregor is obsessed with avenging his first UFC loss that he suffered back in March after the Stockton native submitted him in the second round.

McGregor could also hold out until the winner of Aldo vs Edgar II is settled, and go on to unify his title with the winner of the interim title bout, possibly headlining the UFC’s first New York card.

And finally, the most popular and trending choice, McGregor could possibly co-headline a super fight boxing match between legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr.. The two mega stars have recently been linked to talks of negotiating a possible ‘Boxing vs MMA’ bout, seeing Mayweather looking to achieve his 50th professional win of his undefeated career.

No official announcement has been made as to who McGregor’s next opponent is, however one is expected soon. Stick with LowKick for the latest on Conor McGregor and his next scheduled bout.

The relationship between Conor McGregor and UFC brass has been a hot topic for months now, and it seems to have only gotten worse over recent weeks. With that in mind, UFC executives had a clandestine meeting with McGregor at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.

What did they talk about? What’s next for McGregor’s MMA career? Will the UFC let Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather fight?!

Nobody knows…but TMZ was at ground zero and spotted McGregor and UFC President Dana White going into, and coming out of, the ritzy dinner. Here’s the footage they captured:

TMZ added the following: “Our sources tell us the two men hugged when they first met, but we’re told it was a very aggressive embrace…the kind you could hear from down the hall. White and McGregor were all smiles as they headed up the stairs to a private dinner flanked by 3 very large gentlemen. The meeting took roughly two hours.”

The powwow comes at a very interesting time in UFC history. There were longstanding rumors about a growing rift between McGregor and the UFC, and despite White’s vehement denials, the UFC’s willingness to leave an estimated $45 million on the table by pulling him off UFC 200 seemed to confirm that things were frosty at best.

Did this meeting help mend fences between the two? It’s too early to tell, but fans will likely find out in the coming months.

Dana White Isn’t Sure That Ronda Rousey Will Be Ready For New York

Since the very moment that “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey was shockingly knocked unconscious by Holly Holm at November 2015’s UFC 193, fans wondered if and when she would return and attempt to recapture her long-held title.

Six months later, and Rousey still hasn’t competed, and still doesn’t have a fight scheduled, although it’s expected that the ex-champion will return on November 12, 2016 at UFC 205 in New York to compete for the 135-pound strap.

UFC 205 will be a landmark event for the UFC, as it will be the promotion’s first trip to the Empire state, and its first trip to the infamous Madison Square Garden, making it logical to have a mega-star like Rousey on the card.

The scenario undoubtedly makes sense, as does the timing given the fact that current champion Miesha Tate will defend her title against Amanda Nunes at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas.

The only issue, however, seems to be that UFC President Dana White just isn’t completely sure that Rousey will be ready to return in November:

“She has as much time off as she wants or needs. Obviously, I would love her to come back sooner than later so we’ll see how that plays out but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to roll into New York with Ronda but I just don’t know if she’s going to be ready,” White revealed when speaking to “The Michael Kay Show“.

Rousey competing at UFC 205 seemed to previously be all but confirmed, although as we’ve seen so many times before, nothing is a sure thing in mixed martial arts.

White is sure of one thing, however, and that is that when Rousey does finally announce her return it will be massive:

“When she announces she’s going to be back, it’s going to be big,” White said.

Do you still expect to see Rousey at MSG?
