The UFC and Spike TV on Monday made official the Fight Night 22 card for Sept. 15 in Austin, Texas.

Fight Night 22 will take place at the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on the University of Texas campus and will feature a main event middleweight fight between Demian Maia and Alan Belcher and a co-main event rematch between Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman.

The main card will air live on Spike. And as has become customary, the card is expected to serve as the lead-in for the Season 12 premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter,” which features welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Josh Koscheck as coaches.

Just a reminder for all you creative, good-humored types: You have until Thursday night to submit entries for our current Photoshop contest. The theme is "How are MMA fighters spending their summer vacations?", and all entries must be submitted to our Facebook page. I know we said that we’d be awarding CagePotato t-shirts to the five ‘shops that drew the most "Likes," but we’ve been getting so much good stuff that we’ll probably give out shirts to every image that made us laugh. A few more of our current favorites are after the jump.

And one more thing: We’d like to start collecting questions for an "Ask the Potato" segment on our new podcast, so if you have any pressing queries for Ben and Mike — MMA-related or otherwise — let us hear it. You can submit questions through the comments section on this post, at Facebook.com/CagePotato, or by sending an @cagepotatomma tweet on Twitter.

If you’re like us, you mentally checked out of work hours ago, and are just counting down the minutes until it’s time to leave the office and get the grill started. Independence Day weekend is upon us, signaling that the glorious summer is in full swing. But have you ever wondered what kind of crazy hijinx your favorite fighters are up to during the summer? And for the artistically gifted folks who are reading this, would you be interested in converting your imaginings into hilariously photoshopped images? Yes, it’s time for another CagePotato photoshop contest. The theme is: "How are MMA fighters spending their summer vacations?"

We’re going to run the contest a little differently this time. After you complete a ‘shop of an MMA fighter in a humorous summer-related scenario, head to CagePotato.com’s Facebook page and post it there. (If you’re not already a fan, become one, duh.) On Friday, July 16th (two weeks from today), we will pick the five entries that collected the most "likes," post them on the site, and award their creators CagePotato Devil Horns t-shirts. Sound good? Then slather on that suntan lotion and get crackin’. Have a kickass weekend, you guys!

Just when you thought UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva couldn’t get any stranger than his bizarre UFC 112 performance against Demian Maia in Abu Dhabi, "The Spider" goes and ups the ante and brings in washed up silver screen tough guy Steven Seagal to help him train in the deadly art of Aikido for his upcoming UFC 117 fight with Chael Sonnen in August.

After Alan Belcher’s recent ‘dude was that a f–kin piledrive?’ victory over Patrick Cote, the rising middleweight was quick to call out champion Anderson Silva, after all, Belcher has looked pretty damn impressive lately and clearly he knows it. Will he get the winner of the upcoming August 7th Silva vs. Chael Sonnen? Well, according to Demian Maia, the answer is ‘negativo.’ In a recent interview with the Brazilian MMA outlet Tatame.com, the jiu-jitsu champ said this, when asked if he could be facing Belcher next.

“It seems it will happen, that’s what I heard. I haven’t signed anything yet, but I believe he will be my opponent”

“Man, I’ve seen him fighting, once he fought in the same card as I did, I saw his last fight against (Patrick) Cote, he certainly is a tough guy, one of the tops of the division. For me, it’s an excellent thing to come back with a guy from his level.”

Now it remains to be seen how Belcher feels about possibly fighting a guy who, at least for a couple of rounds, was outgunned big time by Silva (we apologize if you’ve tried to erase the memories of UFC 112 from your mind). Really, in our less than humble opinion, Belcher should welcome it; Maia may still be a ways away in the stand-up game, but just ask Sonnen what happens if he gets you to the ground.
