Footage has emerged following tonight’s UFC 281 card at Madison Square Garden, of a physical altercation between UFC welterweight alum, Nate Diaz, and polarizing Bellator MMA welterweight grappler, Dillon Danis, with the duo separated outside the New York venue.

In footage captured and shared across social media in the moments following tonight’s UFC 281 pay-per-view card in the ‘Big Apple’, Diaz, who competed most recently in September, is seen engaging in conversation with Paradigm Sports Management leader, Audie Attar – the manager of past UFC rival and former duel-weight champion, Conor McGregor.

Embracing and shaking hands with Attar, Nate Diaz is then confronted by McGregor’s teammate, Danis, who moves forward toward the Californian – before Nate Diaz then shapes up and launches a right hand slap in the direction of another man in the entourage of Danis, landing

With both parties separated by officials and security outside Madison Square Garden, reports soon began to filter through following the pair’s altercation.

Headlining tonight’s UFC 281 card as part of a spectacular event in the promotion’s return to The Garden, streaking Brazilian punisher, Alex Pereira managed to clinch the undisputed middleweight title with a staggering standing knockout win over champion and rival, Israel Adesanya in the final round.

Likely giving up three rounds to Adesanya in ahead of the fifth and final frame, Pereira exploded at the Octagon fence before the two minute mark, crunching home with a left hook, before swarming and forcing Marc Goddard to make his move and call a halt to the action.

In the night’s co-headliner, Zhang Weili managed to reclaim her undisputed strawweight title against fellow two-time titleholder, Carla Esparza, slicing through the Californian with a dominant second round rear-naked choke from an unorthodox crucifix position.

In another heralded main card clash, lightweights, Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler shared the Octagon over the course of almost the entirety of their three round fight, with Poirier emerging victoriously with a rear-naked choke triumph after an all-out battle throughout their highly-anticipated matchup.

Scott Coker, Dillon Danis

Scott Coker is willing to give Dillon Danis the opportunity but he is not sure if he wants it.

Bellator president Coker signed Danis after the latter gained notoriety for his work in jiu-jitsu tournaments and became a training partner and grappling coach of Conor McGregor. Since bringing him to Bellator, Coker has managed to only book Danis twice. With zero outings since 2019, Coker doubts whether Danis will ever return.

Bellator president Scott Coker is willing to give the opportunity but doubts Dillon Danis will take it

During the post-fight press conference for Bellator 285 in Dublin, Coker shared his thoughts on signing Dillon Danis.

“Dillon is a kid we had a lot of high hopes for,” said Coker (ht MMA Fighting).

Danis arrived as a highly promising talent that could have a strong future in MMA given his affiliation with ‘The Notorious.’ However, a string of injuries saw him kept on the sidelines. Danis regularly made headlines over the past few years, but instead of the attention being for his fighting abilities, it was instead for his public disputes with fellow athletes or icons of the game.

Coker praised Danis’ jiu-jitsu abilities and extended an offer if he’s serious

Danis is a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu professional with appearances in numerous high-level competitions. As many fans as he may have, Danis also has plenty of haters who are not too appreciative of his antics, including former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.

Coker is willing to give Danis another opportunity but only if he is serious about taking it.

“He’s super-talented, jiu-jitsu fighter, but he’s got to stay active, and he’s got to want to come back,” Coker said. “He calls me, he wants to come back, and then sometimes, I don’t hear from him for months. If he’s really serious about coming back, we’ll definitely have a spot for him, and we’ll definitely make an opportunity for him.”

Paulo Costa

Paulo Costa and Dillon Danis had a playful “altercation” after the two had a night out drinking wine together.

Costa and Danis had a night out together and it looked like the two had a good time! Danis had posted a photo of the two with wine glasses at a dinner table, indicating the two had been out together for some time.

Costa admitted that Danis was the better wine drinker in a tweet as he said Danis beat him at drinking. Costa knows a few things about drinking wine, as he had made the claim that he drank too much the night before his bout with Israel Adesanya for the middleweight championship at UFC 253.

Costa couldn’t go out without beating Danis in something, so he ended up taking Danis down while they were walking out of the restaurant. He tweeted out that he had gotten into an altercation with Conor McGregor’s coach, poking fun at Danis.

Paulo Costa is currently looking for a bout with Khamzat Chimaev

Costa has been calling out Chimaev since the two got into a real altercation a few weeks back. Costa had claimed that he took everything away from Chimaev, including his hype, earlier this week in an interview with Ariel Helwani. Costa is known to be somewhat of an internet troll, but it seems as if he does believe that he messed with Chimaev’s head, and forced him to miss weight due to all his trash talking.

Chimaev may be looking to make the permanent jump to the middleweight division, so a fight with Costa is a real possibility in the near future. The fight makes the most sense from all sides. A fight between the two would settle their beef that they currently have, while Chimaev has a top five opponent in the division to fight.
