Leon Edwards is going into his second welterweight world title defense with the belief that his employer wants to see him lose.

Nine months following his decisive decision victory over Kamaru Usman to retain the 170-pound crown, ‘Rocky’ will once again put the strap on the line, this time against a fighter who has already tried and failed on two separate occasions to claim it, Colby Covington.

Nearly two years removed from his victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272, ‘Chaos’ will stumble into yet another title opportunity, a decision that has fighters, fans, and Edwards still scratching their heads. In the last four years, ‘Chaos’ has gone 2-2 inside the Octagon, his two losses coming against then-champion Kamaru Usman, the man Edwards just got done defeating not once, but twice. Covington’s only wins have come against Tyron Woodley and the aforementioned Masvidal, two fighters who are now retired from MMA following multi-fight losing streaks.

Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Edwards was asked why he believes Covington is getting another shot at UFC gold despite doing very little to earn it.

“I spoke to the UFC, I spoke to everyone and, I don’t know. They brought him in March to weigh in, which was random, I don’t know why. He’s got Dana White privilege right, and that’s it. He fought Masvidal, everyone he’s beat in the last five years is retired right? They’ve all been feeding him these guys on the backend of their careers” (h/t BJPenn.com).

Leon Edwards is Happy to play the underdog once again

To his credit, Colby Covington has a solid 12-3 record under the UFC banner. Since 2016, his only losses have come against Kamaru Usman. However, ‘Chaos’ does not hold a win over a single fighter in the current welterweight top 15 and of his last nine wins, only three of those fighters, Max Griffin, Bryan Barberena, and Rafael dos Anjos are still employed by the UFC.

“For some reason, he’s got this mad mentality that he deserves more than he’s earned,” Edwards said. For some reason, the UFC is going with it, and here we are. I’m prepared, I’m ready, and I’m going to show him the levels… Probably [they want him to win], Trump wants him to win. I don’t know, none of it matters right?”

“My entire career has been like the underdog going against the favorite. I think this is no different. My mentality, my background, it’s all perfect to where my career is going. It all works out perfect for me. So, it is what it is.”

Leon Edwards goes into Saturday’s bout riding an 11-fight win streak dating back to May 2016.

Colby Covington praises Donald Trump coaching ahead of UFC 296 he would beat me if we fought

Colby Covington has allegedly received coaching from none other than Donald Trump ahead of his epic title fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 296.

The American superstar has not been the most active participant in the welterweight division lately but is still waltzing into a title shot this Saturday. The abrasive nature of ‘Chaos’ merely disguises his brilliance in the cage, and now that he’s received training from none other than Donald Trump himself, Covington is feeling unstoppable.

The former U.S. president and Colby Covington share a close bond, and ‘Chaos’ recently took the time to open up about their relationship. Detailing steamy trips to the former president’s vacation home, and late-night war meetings over the phone.

Colby Covington details the coaching he received from Donald Trump

“He is my good friend, it’s not like I was just meeting up with him every couple of months. I was at his house in Mar a Lago a couple of weeks ago, I call him regularly to ask him about a gameplan,” Colby Covington told Mirror Fighting, speaking about the former president. “He’s given me great coaching advice for this fight. Trump is the better fighter [than me], that guy has knuckles like lunchboxes.”

“That guy is so big that he would destroy me if we fought,” Covington continued. “I have the most important and famous person on planet earth coming to my fights to watch me front row. Who does Leon have? Does he have the royal family, Paddington the Bear, or Mary f****ng Poppins coming? Leon is a nobody, he is the B-side and I’m the A-side.”

The bond between the former president and ‘Chaos’ is strong, and Covington even went into vivid detail about the mastery that Trump has with his rod.

“The guy is a PGA tour level professional golfer, he shoots under par,” Colby Covington said, speaking of what he regularly witnesses when he and the former president play golf together. “It’s incredible to watch him and his golf swing, he is dedicated to his craft and the sport of golf. I like to go out there and watch him, sit in the golf cart sometimes to just be amazed at how good Trump is at golf. He is the smartest and best president we’ve had in the history of America.”

Do you think the special relationship between Colby Covington and Donald Trump will inspire ‘Chaos’ to defeat his British adversary?

Donald Trump ally Roger Stone wants to fight Joe Rogan after declining former president’s podcast pitch

Former U.S. President Donald Trump may get a lot of love from Dana White, but he won’t get the same treatment from long-time commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan.

Rogan has established himself as one of the world’s most popular media figures thanks to his immensely popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Averaging 11 million listeners per episode, an appearance on the show is an incredible opportunity to expand one’s brand and reach an unprecedented number of people.

Over the years, Donald Trump has made several pitches in an effort to get on the program, but they have all fallen on deaf ears thus far. As it turns out, Rogan has zero interest in giving ’45’ a platform to further his wildly-inept political career.

“I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape, or form,” Rogan previously told Lex Fridman. “I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once. I’ve said no every time. I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him.”

Joe Rogan Again Rejected Donald Trump Following His Appearance at UFC 290

Joe Rogan once again declined Trump access to his studio following the ex-President’s appearance at UFC 290 earlier this month, a slight that did not sit well with Trump’s political ally Roger Stone. In an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Stone challenged Joe Rogan to a scrap inside the Octagon.

“I know I can definitely take him,” Stone told Jones (via Daily Beast). “I hit the heavy bag for an hour every Saturday.”

We’re not sure how Roger Stone manages to get an hour in on the heavy bag every week with his busy schedule cosplaying as a Dick Tracy villain, but kudos to him.

“The mere discussion of Donald Trump on a blockbuster podcast like Joe Rogan builds a remarkable audience,” a Trump adviser told Daily Beast. “Perhaps the only person bigger in the new media world than Joe Rogan is Donald Trump and the whole idea that the two of them would be together at long last — it would be an incredible audience.”

Looks like Donald Trump will have to stick to exchanging forced pleasantries with Joe Rogen whenever he decides to show up for a UFC event.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump credited much of his success in the state of Florida to recently retired UFC star and outspoken supporter, Jorge Masvidal.

Fans inside the T-Mobile Arena were shocked to see Trump, who had recently been indicted on 37 different charges, including obstruction and unlawful retention of defense information, walk through the tunnel to take in the action at UFC 290 earlier this month. As it turns out, the 45th President of the United States spoke with Jim Norton and Matt Serra earlier that day, detailing his relationship with the UFC, Dana White, and many of the promotion’s biggest stars.

Speaking about one of his most loyal supporters, Jorge Masvidal, Trump suggested that the campaigning ‘Gamebred’ did on his behalf in the state of Florida played a big role in him taking the state during his re-election bid.

“Jorge Masvidal… You know why I love him? I love people that like me, he liked me,” Trump said. “He’s a guy from Cuba, who got left alone in life at nine years old…

“Jorge’s a great guy, and he was campaigning for me. He was a big fan of mine, politically. And I’ll tell you, it had a big difference, I did phenomenally well in Miami and in all of Florida with the Hispanic population, and I credit a lot of that to Jorge, so we love Jorge.”

Donald Trump was also on hand at UFC 287 to see Jorge Masvial’s swansong. Following his unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns, ‘Gamebred’ dedicated a portion of his sort-of retirement speech to the embattled ex-President.

“Also I want to say, the greatest president in the history of the world, sitting right there,” Masvidal said whilst gesturing toward Trump. “I love that guy!” Masvidal continued, spurring the crowd into a chant of “Let’s go Brandon”, a coded political message meaning, ‘F*ck Joe Biden.’

Ironically, Donald Trump has also established a friendship with Masvidal’s former friend turned bitter rival Colby Covington and had nothing, but nice things to say about another former foe of ‘Gamebred,’ Kamaru Usman.

“This sport is interesting. I watched Usman. I think he’s a terrific guy, by the way,” Trump continued. “Terrific person and I only say that because when people say nice about me, I say nice about them, but he is a terrific [person] and a fantastic fighter.

Between 2019 and 2022, the welterweight division became a big game of round robin with Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington, and Kamaru Usman competing against one another five times during the three-year span. ‘Gamebred’ was the only one that failed to conjure up a victory during that timeframe.

Perhaps if he had spent more time in the gym rather than passing out MAGA fliers in downtown Miami…

Donald Trump paid $2.5 million for Holyfield and Belfort fight by Triller

Former United States President, Donald Trump, received a huge payment for commentating the Evander Holyfield Vs. Vitor Belfort in 2021.

In the few years since Triller has moved into the combat sports world, their story has been filled with controversies and questionable business decisions. They did get off to a good start however, putting on a fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr in November of 2020. The exhibition contest was well received and drew great interest – reportedly doing over one million pay-per-view buys.

They would also play host to the Jake Paul Vs Ben Askren fight, an event which would oddly feature performances by huge music stars such as Diplo, Justin Bieber and Doja Cat.

In February 2021, Triller would outbid both Matchroom and Top Rank to promote the first fight between George Kambosos Jr. and Teofimo Lopez. However, after spending $10 million Triller wore unable to put on the event, being found in default of their contractual obligations and the rights would then be given to Matchroom.

Triller has also involved in several lawsuits over the past few years, both as plaintiff and defendant. They have been sued several times non-payment.

Triller Pays Donald Trump millions

As if their financial decisions could be summed up perfectly, it has now come to light that they paid Trump a huge fee for his time on the commentary desk. The Washington Post reported a fee of $2.5 million was paid to America’s 45th president. In a statement, Triller stated would state –

“The payment made to Trump for his commentary was consistent with the fees typically received by celebrity commentators.”

On September 11 in 2021, Triller put a boxing event, shamefully pitting a 58-year-old Holyfield against Beflort. The Brazilian would make quick work of the former heavyweight champion, knocking him out in the first round. The undercard would also feature Anderson Silva Vs. Tito Ortiz, jono Carroll Vs. Andy Vences and David Haye Vs. Joe Fournier.

Trump has been around the combat sports for decades, most recently being cage side for UFC 290 just two weeks ago.
