The UFC has once again raised its own bar. After previously announcing a pair of free preliminary card fights for UFC Fight Night 24 would be streamed live on Facebook, the company has upped the ante to five – apparently thanks to some social media pressure put on company president Dana White.

Posters on The Underground forum started an impromptu campaign asking White, via the message boards and Twitter, for more fights on Facebook. After scheduling two earlier in the week, the UFC boss came through and added three additional to the stream.

Joe StevensonLOUISVILLE, Ky. – The UFC will continue its recent utilization of Facebook on Thursday, bringing another pair of preliminary card fights to the website.

A lightweight bout between Joe Stevenson and Danny Castillo and a light heavyweight fight between Steve Cantwell and Cyrille Diabate will stream live on the UFC’s Facebook fan page leading into the promotion’s main card for UFC on Versus 3. The card takes place at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., and is the UFC’s debut in the state.

Though not yet announced by the promotion, a UFC source confirmed to MMA Fighting on Tuesday in Louisville that the two bouts would stream at the site. This will mark the fourth straight event for the partnership, which the UFC tried for the first time at its Fight for the Troops 2 card in January.

For UFC 127 in Sydney, which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. Eastern Saturday in the States with the time difference, the promotion is returning to Facebook, as well as the Ion Network, for a total of five preliminary card fights. The formation of Facebook is the crux of “The Social Network,” one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2010 – and nominated for eight Oscars on Sunday.

The UFC announced on its Facebook fan page Monday that bouts between Jason Reinhardt and Tiequan Zhang and Tom Blackledge and Anthony Perosh will stream live at Facebook. Fans must “like” the UFC on Facebook to gain access to the prelims at the site. The UFC currently has nearly 4.8 million fans at the social networking giant.
