Well, Bellator MMA continues to strengthen its ranks. Perennial UFC middleweight contender and multiple-time title challenger, Yoel ‘Soldier of God’ Romero is poised to put pen to paper on a multi-fight deal with the organization.

Romero, 43, came to terms with the UFC for his release two weeks ago, despite retaining three-fights on his Octagon deal — snapping a run just shy of seven-years with the organization.

Bellator, who initially passed up on the opportunity to link Romero to a deal according to today’s report from ESPN MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, came to terms with the Cuban late last week, with Romero set to debut in the promotion next year, with a new move to the light heavyweight ranks.

The Pinar del Rio fan-favourite joins the ever-growing list of past UFC talents to link up with the promotion’s light heavyweight division, with perennial contender, Corey Anderson penning a deal earlier this year. Two-time 205-pound title challenger, Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson also mutually agreed to part ways with the UFC last week, before signing a multi-fight deal with the Scott Coker led promotion, with eyes set on an eventual rise to the heavyweight weight-limit.

Last featuring at UFC 248 in March, Romero made his thirteenth walk under the UFC’s banner, dropping a forgettable unanimous decision to incumbent middleweight best, Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya.

The defeat came as the American Top Team trainee’s third consecutively, coming after a pair of contentious losses to recent title challenger, Paulo Costa, as well as a championship rematch with former gold holder, Robert Whittaker.

With a 9-4 promotional record, Romero notably dispatched four former world champions; Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida all via stoppage — in between a close UFC 194 split decision win over grappling maestro, Jacare Souza.

A date or opponent for Romero’s sure to be highly-anticipated debut under the Bellator MMA banner has yet to be determined.

J Prince has revealed he is currently weighing up moves into the YouTube boxing business as well as Mixed Martial Arts.

The Rap-A-Lot Records CEO and former manager of Floyd Mayweather and Andre Ward already has an impressive boxing stable but is looking to diversify it in 2021 after watching the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view event last month.

“I’m trying to build a stable full of champions in every weight division,” Prince told LowKickMMA. “That’s a goal of mine and of course I want to diversify the market outside of the normal box of boxing. You can see a lot of that taking place on the Mike Tyson and Roy Jones fight card. The diversity in the marketing was really interesting to me and I love the fact of intertwining the best of both of those worlds.”

Prince was “entertained” by Tyson vs. Jones Jr. but was happier to see the legendary pair leave the ring just as healthy as they entered. The 56-year-old was more interested in YouTube celebrity Jake Paul who appeared on the undercard and has taken the boxing world by storm alongside his brother Logan Paul over the past year.

“I like the movement that the brothers are doing,” Prince said. “I love the diversity they bring to the sport and I think a lot can be accomplished. That’s like a new form of tea or what not that’s really tasteful and I’m looking forward to how I can get a taste of that.”

Prince is also weighing up a move into MMA but seemed less certain about if or when he’d actually be making that jump.

“I’ve thought about it,” Prince said about a potential move into MMA. “I’ve thought about it. I love to see those guys in action but I haven’t embraced any of the business opportunities yet but it is in the back of my mind.”

Do you think J Prince will find success in YouTube boxing & MMA?

Deiveson ‘Deus Da Garra’ Figueiredo remains the undisputed UFC flyweight titleholder, following a potential Fight of the Year shoo-in in a majority draw with the durable, gritty, and determined number-one contender, Brandon Moreno over five-rounds.

Starting with an aggessive approach, Figueiredo opened with a spinning back-kick to the body, before launching a powerful right jab. In a brief scramble, Moreno rolled to the Brazilian’s back, before the defending champion made his way back to his feet. As is patented, Figueiredo had massive success in the pocket, with Moreno finding his range as well of note. One round in the books. 10-9 to the defending titleholder.

Figueiredo, without as much intent from the get-go in the second, once more fired off a massive spin to the body, pushing the Mexican back to th efence, who himself replied with a well placed shot of his own. Ripping upstairs with a couple of right-hooks, Moreno ate everything Figueiredo had to offer, showing a fantastic chin in the pocket. Attempting to close the distance, Figueiredo suffered a takedown — with Moreno suffering an eye-poke from guard. Again pushed to the fence via Figueiredo’s pressure, Moreno scored another trip, with the Brazilian immediately shooting back to his feet.

Into the third with a staggering pace, it was more of the same, with Figueiredo cracking Moreno with a series of hooks in the pocket, before firing off that consistent southpaw body kick. Moreno, nevertheless, displaying a phenomenal ability to withstand punishment. Suffering a particularly nasty inadvertent kick to the groin, Moreno collapsed to the canvas to recover. Referee, Jason Herzog also deducted a point from Figueiredo. Before the buzzer, Moreno landed a massive right-hook to boot.

Our first of two championship-rounds. Initiating the clinch, Figeuriedo jumped for a guillotine, with Moreno pushing the champion back to the fence before both made their way back to the feet. Wobbling Figueiredo, Moreno landed some beautifully placed shots in the pocket, with the Brazilian becoming more and more notably fatigued. Another takedown landed for Moreno, who wound up in half-guard.

Fifth and final round. Moreno seemed to be dealing with a massive swelling on his left forearm after catching a massive left kick from Figueiredo. With his output severely compromised, Moreno failed to continue his incredible volume into the fifth and final round, with the judges scoring the headliner a majority draw (48-48, and 47-47 (x)).

Below, check out the highlights from an instant flyweight classic between still champion, Figueiredo, and steely challenger, Moreno.
