Henry Cejudo has been looking for a big fight to make his comeback, and now he is claiming to have found it.
The former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion retired following a second round stoppage of Dominik Cruz in May 2020. Many questioned whether the retirement would stick, and Cejudo only added fuel to that fire by constantly calling out opponents over social media.
According to a Tweet from his account, it appears that Cejudo will indeed come out of retirement, only he won’t be returning to the octagon just yet.
“It’s going down!” Cejudo wrote. “The Triple C vs The Olympic bronze medalist @floydmaywether #staytune”. He also included a doctored photo of him facing off against Floyd Mayweather.
The announcement comes after UFC president Dana White was seen visiting Mayweather’s home in Las Vegas earlier this week. Mayweather was meeting with RIZIN FF President Nobuyuki Sakakibara, presumably scheduling another collaboration after their ‘Mega 2021‘ event fell through in February. The pair had previously worked together when Mayweather took on RIZIN and kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition match, which he won in the first round.
White’s appearance at the meeting apparently came as a surprise to Sakakibara, as it was the first time the former PRIDE FC head had seen the UFC boss in 15 years.
As for Mayweather, he was expected to face YouTube sensation Logan Paul in an exhibition match in February, but that fight fell through. If the fight against Cejudo does come to fruition, it will be Mayweather’s first since the aforementioned bout against Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve 2018. Prior to that, he ran his professional record to 50-0 with a win over Conor McGregor, so another fight against an MMA star isn’t far-fetched.
Only time will tell if White was able to throw Cejudo’s name into the mix in his meeting, or if this is just another patented Henry Cejudo troll-job. If the fight is made official, it will be interesting to see if it will be an official boxing match, or another exhibition with special rules applied.
Do you think we will see Henry Cejudo face Floyd Mayweather?
Conor Mcgregor tweeted out to Iron Mike Tyson last night after Tyson had some strong words to say about the former two-weight division champion. Conor Mcgregor tweeted out to Iron Mike Tyson last night after Tyson had some strong words to say about the former two-weight division champion. The former heavyweight king praised the Irishman for his performance against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August 2017, claiming McGregor’s ability to not only last ten rounds with the best boxer in the world but also to make the fight competitive, proved the fact that he indeed did belong in the same ring with him.
Mcgregor responded on Twitter to the Tyson interview clip, “Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd. I promise my life on it. It is great to see you back Iron Mike”
It remains to be seen whether or not we will see Mcgregor and Mayweather will duke it out inside the squared circle again, but it certainly seems like the Irishman is planting the seeds for a future massive pay day. Mike Tyson recently talked about a return to the ring for a charity exhibition matchup, while also posting a clip on his Instagram of him hitting the pads.
The Irishman meanwhile was last seen defeating Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January and has been rumored for a return on Fight Island in July, but nothing has come to fruition quite yet. It’s certainly an interesting scenario for Conor, he has a lot of options on the table. Perhaps, we’ll see ‘Notorious’ in a boxing ring once again sooner rather than later after these latest comments.
So what do you think? Is Conor Mcgregor serious about promising his life that he will defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr in a rematch?

Floyd Mayweather welcomed Conor McGregor to the boxing world back in 2017 in a mega-money fight.
Although the Irishman made the fight competitive in the opening rounds, Mayweather ultimately finished the UFC star in the 10th round via TKO. It remains to this day one of the biggest combat sporting events of all time, and after McGregor’s successful return to the Octagon last month, Mayweather is teasing a rematch with “Notorious.”
Speaking on the “Drink Champs podcast,” Mayweather detailed that he did extremely minimal training for his first fight with McGregor. “Money” said he only really did situps and pushups in training for the fight. (H/T Bloody Elbow)
“For the Conor McGregor [fight], I didn’t really train,” Mayweather said. “All I did was do pushups and sit-ups. That’s all I did. Pushups and sit-ups, box a few times, hit the bag a few times, because, actually, training camp was in different places.
“I would do training camp in Vegas a few days, [but] sometimes I wouldn’t go to the gym for a week. I took it serious, like I said before, I wanted to have some fun in the fight and I wanted to entertain the people.”
McGregor has been very adamant that he believes he could beat Mayweather in a rematch. One of the UFC star’s biggest downfalls in the fight was his cardio burning out in the latter rounds. This allowed Mayweather to then abandon his usual defensive style and open up, eventually putting McGregor away with a barrage of unanswered shots. The victory gave Mayweather his 50th consecutive win in his perfect boxing career.
While Mayweather said he was retired after fighting McGregor, “Money” is now looking to box a UFC star again when he comes out of retirement later this year. UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor are the favorites for the job. Also, it’s speculated Mayweather could rematch Manny Pacquiao this year as well. It will be interesting to see how things play out for Mayweather this year.
What do you think about Mayweather not taking his fight with McGregor seriously?

TMZ is reporting that 32-year-old Ricco Kimborough recognized Mayweather standing around with his security team at the valet stand at the Fontainebleau Hilton this past weekend (Sat. February 1, 2020) in Miami around 8:30 a.m. Ricco claims he asked for a picture with Mayweather, but “Money” turned him down by saying “I can’t even get a good morning first?”
According to the police report, Kimborough suggests Mayweather’s security team “pushed him away from Mayweather” and Mayweather yelled at him “I’ll beat your ass.” TMZ caught video of the incident, where you can see Ricco and Mayweather shouting at each other. Meanwhile, Mayweather’s security team is trying to defuse the situation. At one point in the video, Ricco can be heard saying, if he’s beat up by Mayweather, “I’ll get all your money too!”
Mayweather responded by saying, “You can get this ass-whooping for free.” With that being said, Mayweather remains relatively calm throughout the video, physically, and showed no signs of an altercation or even getting near Ricco. It was nothing more than trash-talk before getting into his SUV. Miami Beach PD is currently investigating the assault allegations. Check out the video of the incident below.
