Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia will both be putting their undefeated records on the line when the pair clash in a 136lbs catchweight fight on April 15th in Las Vegas.

Gervonta Davis notched his 26th professional knockout only yesterday when he stopped Hector Luis Garcia in the eight-round at the Capital One Arena, Washington.

Davis started slowly before he began to put the pressure on heavily causing the cumulative damage that Garcia faced preventing him from getting up from his corner before the start of the ninth round.

Another stoppage victory for Davis and another successful defense of his WBA Lightweight world championship saw his professional record extend to an extremely impressive 28-0. Having just defeated one Garcia, ‘Tank’ revealed he is now ready to take on Ryan Garcia in what has been one of the most highly anticipated matchups in recent times.

Following on from his victory Davis reflected on the matchup and looked ahead to his highly anticipated showdown.

“I knew when I caught him, he was hurt. He was hurt bad. He’s a fighter. He didn’t wanna show it,”

“I’ll be ready. I’m ready for the fight. He’s been training, he’s been talking, and let’s see who’s really about that.” Davis said post-fight.

Questions surrounded whether his matchup against Hector Luis Garcia would go ahead after Davis was arrested earlier this week facing a domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm. Having been cleared of these charges, Davis was able to compete and continue his run of fine form taking out another undefeated world champion.

Following the result, Ryan Garcia took to social media to let his next opponent know what he has coming for him when the pair meet on April 15th.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Scheduled For April 15th

The pair have traded blows back and forth on social media for months but will now finally get to settle their differences inside the ring. Both men enter the bout holding undefeated records with a combined 45 knockouts in their 51 professional outings.

Garcia most recently extended his undefeated record to 23-0 when he stopped Javier Fortuna in the sixth round of their clash securing his nineteenth professional stoppage.

Undefeated rising star Gervonta Davis appears set to close as a massive favorite ahead of his upcoming fight vs. Hector Luis Garcia. The two champions will face off in a 12-round title fight, scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 7.

‘Tank’ will be looking to improve on his impressive 27-0 record (25 KO’s), when he squares off against WBA ‘super’ featherweight champion Hector Luis Garcia, who also boasts an impressive undefeated record of 16-0 (10 KO’s). Gervonta Davis will put his WBA lightweight title on the line when he faces off against Garcia.

Despite both men boasting impressive records, Gervonta Davis has been priced as a significant favorite by the bookies. Betway currently have his ML priced at -1200, whilst his opponent, ‘El Androide’ is a significant underdog, priced at +800.

Considering the power ‘Tank’ has in his hands, and the size advantage he will have, a KO/TKO prop bet maybe be a better option. Betway have Davis via KO/TKO lined at 1.30.

Davis has been vocal in his desire to compete 3 times in 2023, but is not looking past Garcia, regardless of what the odds may indicate. Speaking with TalkSport, ‘Tank’ states that:

“We not sleeping on this guy. I know we got two fights lined up, but this the main one that we focused on. I’m ready to go through everybody in that division, that 135 division. But this Garcia is the first person that we got to focus on, so we got to get through him first. I ain’t gonna lie. He looks a little hungry. A lot of people overlook him, but I ain’t trying to overlook him. He looks like he’s ready.

“And it could be a life changer for him. You know what I mean? He wants to take my spot. So I’m definitely not looking past him. I’m in a real fight. January 7 is going to be a crazy night.” (H/T TalkSport)

Surging UFC bantamweight contender, Sean O’Malley has claimed that he hopes to eventually land a pair of Octagon championships – at his current weight class as well as at featherweight, before eventually transitioning to a boxing match against the undefeated world champion, Gervonta Davis.

O’Malley, the current #13 ranked bantamweight contender, is scheduled to make his octagon return at UFC 276 next weekend during International Fight Week – drawing Brazilian contender and division staple, Pedro Munhoz in a featured preliminary card slot.

Last time out, O’Malley landed his third consecutive victory with a first round knockout win against Munhoz’s Brazilian compatriot, Raulian Paiva.

Sean O’Malley suffered his sole professional loss in a 2020 defeat against Marlon Vera

The Montana native enjoyed a stellar 2021 inside the Octagon – embarking on a run of three straight victories, adding Paiva to prior successes against both promotional veterans, Kris Moutinho, and Thomas Almeida.

Tipped as a future title challenger at the bantamweight limit, O’Malley admitted that he has sights fixed on securing a pair of championships during his UFC tenure – including the featherweight crown, currently held by UFC 276 co-headliner, Alexander Volkanovski.

“I’m eventually going to go up to ‘45,” Sean O’Malley told Canal Encarada before UFC 276. “Before I do that, I have to become the bantamweight champion. It has to be done. I think I will, once I’m bantamweight champion, deserve and earn a title shot at ‘45. I believe I can become double-champ.”

As well as those title aspirations, O’Malley also claimed that he envisions sharing the squared circle with undefeated world champion, Davis.

“And then I do think, in the future, Gervonta Davis sounds like a big fight for me,” Sean O’Malley said. “I would love to go over to the boxing world. I know people love it, they hate it, they don’t want to talk about it. ‘MMA never beats boxers.’ But I’m in the entertainment business and I believe in my skills.”

“I truly think that in four or five years, that if I’m double-champ, or if I’ve been the bantamweight, been the featherweight champ, and Gervonta Davis is still a superstar, there’s no reason I can’t go over there and perform for the fans in boxing and put his lights out, too and become the biggest combat sports athlete in the world.” (Transcribed by Bloody Elbow)

Sean O’Malley has his sight set to the top, the UFC prospect is on his own journey to greatness and the ‘SugaShow’ took one step closer to that at UFC 269. O’Malley defeated Raulian Paiva via TKO inside the first round in what was scheduled to be his hardest test to date.

MMA isn’t the only combat sport Sean O’Malley is interested in competing in it appears after he spoke on an episode of the Full Send Podcast and expressed his interest in a future matchup with Boxer Gervonta Davis.

“If they were a massive star. Floyd came to MMA; sure Dana would figure out a way to pay him. I don’t think Gervonta is a big enough star. Dana would be like, no, we don’t f**king want him. But for me to box Gervonta, that’s a massive fight someday, like that’s a massive f**king fight someday,” O’Malley said.

“That’s a Floyd-Conor fight someday potentially if we’re on the same path. We haven’t done enough, he hasn’t done what Floyd has done, I haven’t done what Conor has done. But if it keeps going. I don’t see my career going any different, I’m going up. I could see him keep beating people, too. It could be a massive boxing fight someday.”

“It would have to be a UFC deal like Conor did. Conor was still signed with the UFC, Dana still got paid. It would have to be something like that. I can box, I can f**king box, like actually box. That combo that I threw up against the cage, there were no kicks there. That was boxing, it was clean.”

Sean O’Malley Mocks Gervonta Davis

Although O’Malley believes he would do well if he ever got the opportunity to go and box, he does not think the same if Gervonta Davis was to come over and step into an octagon.

“When he said that he’s from the hood, that’s how he would wrestle. That was the funniest f**king thing ever. If he actually grappled with someone, like he said, he’d come to MMA.”

“If he took one class at a f**king amateur gym, he would be like what the f**k, I would never do that. It’s funny to see how delusional he is to think he could come into an MMA fight and be successful at all against an elite-level fighter.” (transcribed by essentiallysports.com)
