UFC 200 is shaping up to be one of, if not the most amazing looking card in modern UFC history. Even without their self proclaimed king of the pay-per-views Conor McGregor, the second major milestone PPV event on July 9 has a whole host of blockbuster fights going down. UFC president Dana White recently teased the promotion was not done announcing big fights on the card, which has led to widespread speculation about the possible rematch between McGregor and Nate Diaz coming back together, and many other potentially amazing fights.

So let’s take a look at some dream fights that could still be in the works for the July 9 event, that could make the already stacked UFC 200 card even more star studded.

McGregor vs. Diaz 2

OK, so let’s start with an obvious one, Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz part 2. Love him or hate him, ‘The Notorious’ is good viewing and the originally scheduled rematch of their UFC 200 rematch could be massive if re-inked to the July PPV. They first met at UFC 196 following a grossly entertaining 11-day feud, but the second fight fell apart when the featherweight champion refused to attend his media obligations for the rematch.

UFC brass has attempted to replace the blockbuster UFC 200 main event that was to be Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor II with the return of longtime former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

“GSP” was rumored to be offered a bout against undefeated lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov. In a recent interview with Match TV, the Russian admitted to have being offered the main event of the UFC’s blockbuster event in July:

“Yesterday the UFC called me with a proposal to hold the main bout of the evening against Nate Diaz, or against Georges St-Pierre.”

The event, however, is too close to the Russian’s religious holiday of Ramadan, making it difficult to be healthy enough for a five round bout:

“They hope that I will take the fight. But it is four days after the month of Ramadan, and it would be hard physically to fight five rounds. I’ll be back in September and October.”

While there have been rumblings of negotiations for GSP’s return, nothing has been made official just yet. A bout with Diaz could potentially be a huge draw for both men in their respective situations.

A win over Nurmagomedov could thrust Diaz into immediate title contention, while a victory for “The Eagle” over the man who beat Conor McGregor could propel him into the next tier of stardom.

The return of “GSP” or a clash with Nate Diaz vs. Nurmagomedov would be a huge main event, this news can definitely confirm the UFC is desperately scrambling to find a new main event for the supposedly phenomenal upcoming PPV event.

Nurmagomedov seems reluctant to take the bout so close to Ramadan, so it should be interesting to see what the UFC can muster up next in attempt to save the main event of the otherwise stacked card.

Last week UFC superstar Georges St-Pierre dropped the strongest hint yet that he’s on the verge of a comeback, admitting that he was “in talks” with the promotion about a possible return to the action for the first time in over two years.

The welterweight legend indicated that there are still hurdles to be overcome, but you would imagine that behind the scenes the UFC is doing everything in their power to pave the way for the return of one of the sport’s biggest ever stars.

Should the 34-year-old risk a return to the Octagon at this stage in his career though?

In this article we’ll argue that there are five major reasons why there’s never been a better time for this pound-for-pound great to get back to doing what he does best.

There’s been an ever-increasing buzz so far this year that welterweight superstar Georges St. Pierre could be on the verge of a comeback in 2016.

The rumor mill went into overdrive when St. Pierre attended UFC 196 last month to watch Conor McGregor fight Nate Diaz, while those close to the 34-year-old, such as long-time coach Firas Zahabi and training partner Rory MacDonald, have occasionally dropped hints that he is targeting a return.

The latest fuel to the fire comes from the man himself, with St. Pierre telling RDS.ca that he has been speaking to the UFC about a possible return, though they are still in negotiations and nothing has been decided yet.

Is it really such a good idea for the former welterweight kingpin to step back into the Octagon though?

In this article we’ll argue that there are five major reasons why this legendary fighter should cast aside any thought of returning, and instead should make his retirement official and hang up his gloves for good.

The talk of a potential Georges St-Pierre return to the Octagon continues following a recent interview with GSP himself.

St-Pierre was interviewed while in attendance at the Toronto Raptors basketball game at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Tuesday evening and spoke about a potential UFC return.

“I’m on good terms with the UFC – we’re talking,” St-Pierre said during the brief interview, which aired live from courtside on TSN in Canada. “Everything is possible, but I don’t know right now. I can’t tell you everything. I have to keep some secrets.”

GSP has not fought in the UFC since defeating Johny Hendricks via narrow split decision victory at UFC 167 back in November of 2013.

Former long-time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre constantly makes headlines regarding a potential return to action after vacating his coveted 170-pound strap back in 2013.

Every time it appears as if a possible comeback may be a reality, however, St-Pierre shuts it down, or leaves us with yet another question mark.

That may have just changed, as we have received the most definitive news regarding “Rush’s” anticipated return to action.

According to Benoit Beaudoin of a French sports outlet, the Canadian superstar has begun negotiations with the UFC, although one road block remains (translated from French):

“Georges St-Pierre confirms negotiations with the UFC for his return. The sponsors are a stumbling point.”

Since GSP’s departure from the Octagon, the UFC has signed a highly lucrative deal with Reebok; a deal that has enlisted the sports apparel giant as the sole sponsor of the UFC. Fighters are now unable to represent outside sponsors at promotional events, nor are they able to do so inside the cage on fight night.

While this deal was intended to turn mixed martial arts into a more ‘professional’ sport, it has ultimately took quite a nice chuck of change away from some competitors.

With that being said, St-Pierre, who is a veteran of 21 UFC bouts, would receive a $20,000 sponsorship payment from Reebok, likely a significant amount less than he was making back in his glory days.

As of now, no word has come from the promotion regarding this news, although St-Pierre fighting once again would undoubtedly be monumental.

The all-time great hasn’t competed since a highly controversial split-decision victory over Johny Hendricks back at UFC 167, but he remains at just 34 years of age.
