UFC 200 is shaping up to be one of, if not the most amazing looking card in modern UFC history. Even without their self proclaimed king of the pay-per-views Conor McGregor, the second major milestone PPV event on July 9 has a whole host of blockbuster fights going down. UFC president Dana White recently teased the promotion was not done announcing big fights on the card, which has led to widespread speculation about the possible rematch between McGregor and Nate Diaz coming back together, and many other potentially amazing fights.

So let’s take a look at some dream fights that could still be in the works for the July 9 event, that could make the already stacked UFC 200 card even more star studded.

OK, so let’s start with an obvious one, Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz part 2. Love him or hate him, ‘The Notorious’ is good viewing and the originally scheduled rematch of their UFC 200 rematch could be massive if re-inked to the July PPV. They first met at UFC 196 following a grossly entertaining 11-day feud, but the second fight fell apart when the featherweight champion refused to attend his media obligations for the rematch.

UFC 200 got it’s main event verified and announced last night (Wednesday March 30, 2016) as we learned tht Conor McGregor would be granted his rematch request with Nate Diaz. Of course we’d all known this for at least a week thanks to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, but you know how the promotion likes to break their own news, especially when it comes to huge PPV cards like UFC 200.

So the not surprising main event announcement was met with the revelation that Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo would face off in a rematch of their UFC 156 featherweight title fight. Once again the bout will be a five round championship fight, but this time around it’s for the interim strap. As the news of their fight was announced just moments before the UFC 200 main event, many of us assumed it would be the co-main event of the evening.

Well, according to UFC president Dana White via The Star Phoenix, the second fiddle slot for the July 9 PPV is yet to be revealed:


Wow, it looks like this huge week of breaking news for the UFC is by no means over yet. Following the tradition of pay-per-view cards, aside from the fact a non-title welterweight bout is the main event, you can guess that a title fight will be targeted for the co-main event slot. It’s official, UFC 200 has the main event booked, and once again we’ll see a milestone pay-per-view event headlined by a rematch. Last time it was UFC 100 featuring Frank Mir vs. Brock Lesnar 2, this time around it’s Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor who will front the blockbuster PPV card. Set to go down on July 9 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, UFC 200 was heavily rumoured to feature Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz part deux, and was t5oday confirmed by the UFC Tonight crew on Twitter:


Although the news was already ‘confirmed’ by Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, it was kept under wraps by the promotion until officially being announced just moments ago. Diaz and ‘The Notorious’ fought at UFC 196, with the Stockton bad boy coming in on just 11 days notice to rain on the UFC’s and McGregor’s parade. He’s been making the most of his time in the media ever since.

Another huge fight, and it features the two top contenders at featherweight. With McGregor staying at welterweight for the moment, much to the dismay of many hardcore fans, the junior title will be on the line, presumingly in the co-main event of the monster UFC 200 schedule. Former champion Jose Aldo whom McGregor one punch knocked out at UFC 194, will rematch legitimate number one contender Frankie Edgar for the interim strap. As confirmed by UFC Tonight:


So there you have it, another crazy evening of news, as McGregor and Diaz are officially headlining UFC 200, and Jose Aldo takes on Frankie Edgar for the scraps at 145 pounds. Thoughts on whether these are the right match ups?
