While the next season of The Ultimate Fighter will feature flyweights vying for a shot at the UFC championship, one contender in the division doesn’t plan on tuning in at all.

Ian McCall, who is rumored for a return to the Octagon at UFC 201 vs. Justin Scoggins, voiced his displeasure with TUF on Twitter recently.

Th 31-year-old McCall (13-5-1) had his two-fight win streak snapped in early 2015 at the hands of John Lineker. He lost to Demetrious Johnson, the current UFC champion, back in 2012 in the tournament semifinals after their first bout was declared a majority draw.

In today’s infinitely uncertain world, two things are certain: Conor McGregor is the biggest draw in the UFC, quite possibly in the entire history of the UFC, and anything he says is inevitably going to manifest itself into major news.

In this tight-knit MMA community of ours, word-of-mouth ‘gossip’ tends to travel quickly, especially when the subject of said gossip (McGregor) has millions of social media fans and the virtual following of a nearly worldwide cult. So when “Notorious” went on his Twitter rant attacking multiple UFC fighters these past few days, namely Nate Diaz and his ‘garbage’ ground game at UFC 196, much of the MMA community took notice and fired back with some fightin’ words of their own.

An emerging ‘leader’ of this group, for now, appears to be former flyweight title challenger Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall. The eccentric wrestler tossed his hat into the ring when he let his thoughts on the whole McGregor debacle be known when he appeared as a guest on Sherdog Radio Network’s “Neutral Corner” with Yves Edwards.

When it comes to McGregor’s drawing power, McCall admittedly recognizes greatness when he sees it. However, when it comes to his “well-rounded” fighting skills, “Uncle Creepy” thinks that McGregor still leaves much to be desired when the action hits the mat.

Conor McGregor is MMA’s biggest star, bigger than Ronda Rousey, bigger than even Chuck Liddell in his heydayI think that he’s really good. He’s better than really good [at striking], but his jiu-jitsu is dog shit.”

After telling us how he really felt, he then dug a bit deeper, both into “Notorious’” fight with Nate Diaz and also again into his allegedly questionable ground game.

“I know Nate Diaz is a savage, but Conor didn’t do anything against Chad [Mendes] either. He got molested by Nate. Maybe his jiu-jitsu is really good. But for him to be a brown belt, that’s a slap in the face to someone like me who’s been a purple belt for 10 years.”

As you can probably tell, the unbounded legion of anti-McGregor activists are steadily growing and his erratic social media outbursts aren’t doing much in the way of slowing them down, let alone stopping them. If McGregor wants to turn the public sentimental tide back in his favor, a good start would be by putting down the phone and getting back into the gym, because Nate Diaz isn’t getting any smaller.

Stay tuned, because the Conor McGregor show has taken its place atop the 24-hour news cycle. And one more thing’s for certain, he’ll be back soon.

Ian McCall: “I’ve Made Peace With The Fact That I Might Never Fight Again”

ian-mccall

During his appearance on a recent episode of “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com, UFC Flyweight contender “Uncle Creepy” Ian McCall spoke about a host of injuries he has sustained throughout his career and how it might affect his career going forward.

McCall broke down the list of injuries he deals with when talking with show-host Ariel Helwani.

“Just to put it in perspective, I have two bulging discs in my neck and then I have the four-part surgery on my shoulder, I fractured and dislocated my elbow, I got three surgeries, two breaks (in my hand), and I’ve had an infection in this arm. So my arm doesn’t work so well. Like, right now, my hand’s kind of numb.”

According to “Uncle Creepy,” he might be done fighting inside the Octagon as a result of his condition.

“I just have to be realistic. My body isn’t working very well. I do still train. I train every day, I teach every day. I still beat up on everybody. I just have to take it slow. I don’t know if my body can handle another training camp, because I train hard. Like everybody else, I train really hard. I also train very smart, but I just have a tendency to break. I’ve made peace with it – that I might never fight again – (but) do I want to fight? Of course. I want to fight. I would like nothing more than to fight, but I have to be realistic about it.”

“I have a child. I have a life,” McCall said. “My brain still works, so I’m just, you know, taking my time. If it takes until summer, if it takes until next year, if I never fight again, whatever. I’ve accomplished a lot. That’s a drug that is hard to come by, is performing in front of an audience like that. I want nothing more than that, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.”

Ian McCall (13-5-1) last fought at UFC 183 in January of 2015, losing via unanimous decision to John Lineker.

The Mayhem Continues: Ian McCall’s Ex-Wife Files Assault Charges Against Jason Miller

(via Shay’s Instagram

When we last checked in with former Strikeforce/UFC fighter turned certifiably crazy person Jason Miller, he had just finished pleading not guilty to resisting and obstructing officer charges following a standoff with California SWAT…that he live tweeted. Classic Mayhem, amiright?

In any case, if you thought that pesky little incident would slow down the man who’s been arrested more times in the past couple years than Kat Williams, then you probably didn’t read the headline of this article. Because now, it appears that Ian McCall‘s ex-wife, Shay, is filing assault charges against Miller following a dust-up at his Mission Viejo home earlier this week.

McCall took to Instagram last night to post photos of the alleged assault, along with the following statement:

3 days I was physco ally assaulted by #mayhem #miller #ufc just for confronting him on something I didn’t want to be around. I was strangled…. Ext yes I did press charges.

Thank you everyone for your support he will pay when reality kicks in.. If he ever does and he is in jail.

“But, your honor, my client is already pending trial for assault, so by the law of double jeopardy, I demand that you dismiss all charges!” — Miller’s lawyer, Shaggy 2 Dope

For what it’s worth, Miller has responded to the allegations via Twitter.

Honestly, I think Shaggy’s defense is a little more airtight.

We’ll keep you up to date on Miller latest (allegedly) heinous crime as details are made available. And in case you’re wondering what Uncle Creepy’s thoughts are on all this, well, let’s just say that he wants no part of it.

John Lineker vs. Ian McCall Rescheduled for UFC 183 in January

(“The jokes on you, asshole. I poisoned your coconut water.”)

When John Lineker failed to make weight for the 1,500th time prior to his Fight Night 56 co-main event scrap against Ian McCall, “Uncle Creepy” responded with quite possibly the most epic weigh-in trolljob this side of Roy Nelson’s fat suit. Less than 24 hours later, however, it was McCall who found himself physically unable to compete due to a last-minute illness, and the fight was scrapped.

Thankfully, UFC.com announced earlier this evening that the battle of top flyweight contenders is back on. McCall and Lineker has been rescheduled for the main card of UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz on January 31st in Las Vegas.

“Looks like fat boy finally said yes,” McCall posted to Sqor just hours ago, which seems like a real dick thing to say about a guy who already forgave you for being a loud-mouthed pecker that pulled out just moments before you were supposed to bang. God, that’s gotta be some kind of record for sex puns in a single sentence. Weiner.

One thing’s for sure, there’s no way that McCall vs. Lineker ever lives up to likes of Martinez vs. Zimmer, which set the gold standard for fat guy vs. obnoxious a-hole fights.
