UFC star Paddy Pimblett has shared his thoughts on the blockbuster boxing match upcoming between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘Iron’ Mike are set for a heavyweight showdown live on Netflix on November 15.

Mike Tyson

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson is one of the all-time great heavyweight boxers in history. He was feared for his thunderous power having won nearly all of his matches by way of knockout when he captured world titles as an unbeaten athlete in the 1980s. The US-born Tyson held on to his illustrious titles until his loss to Lennox Lewis in 2002. He has not fought professionally since a loss in 2005. Most recently, the 58-year-old faced Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match that ended in a draw in 2020.

Jake Paul

‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul was a popular figure on YouTube and managed to convert his fame into a blockbuster boxing career. Paul has made a name for himself by defeating former UFC athletes in the boxing ring. Some of his wins include Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Diaz, among others. The 27-year-old has struggled against career boxers such as Tommy Fury.

Notable grappler and top 15 ranked UFC athlete Paddy Pimblett had some thoughts on the upcoming Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match. The English-born Paddy Pimblett called it a freakshow and barely gave the match any credence, calling it a stupid idea. In a recent interview, he explained:

“[Mike Tyson] was still an absolute unit when I met him anyway, and he wasn’t in shape then. He’s still an absolute brick shi*house. He’s just built like that. Now he’s in shape – but he shouldn’t be fighting at 58, it’s just ridiculous. It’s just stupid. He definitely doesn’t need to either. He’s got the money to not fight, so I just don’t understand why they’re doing it.”

Francis Ngannou and Jake Paul are not letting UFC president Dana White off the hook for entirely changing his narrative and flip-flopping over the years.

After his first title defense for greener pastures, the UFC heavyweight world champion Francis Ngannou walked away from the organization vacating his crown. The Cameroonian star signed with the PFL and took on two blockbuster boxing bouts against the royalty of the sport as he faced Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. It is estimated that Ngannou made over $30-$40 million for these three bouts.

When Francis Ngannou captured the UFC heavyweight throne, Jon Jones was the long-reigning light heavyweight champion but refused to step up to heavyweight. ‘Bones’ waited until Ngannou left the UFC before trying a heavyweight move. Dana White claimed this was because Jones was scared of Ngannou.

As Dana White explained in 2021 after Ngannou captured the heavyweight title by way of knockout, suggesting Jones would be better off cutting to middleweight rather than up to heavyweight. White explained:

“If I’m Jon Jones and I’m at home watching this fight I’m moving to ’85 … If Jon Jones really wants the fight Jon Jones knows he can get the fight … If you really want the fight, Francis Ngannou is the heavyweight champion of the world right now, all he’s gotta do is pick up the phone and call Hunter [Campbell] and we can get the deal done.”

Years later, Dana White says that Francis Ngannou is all about the money and that the UFC offered him one of the biggest deals in UFC history, certainly recognizing his value.

Jake Paul did not let White forget, in a recent Tweet, he said:

“3 years ago he was telling Jon Jones to move down to 185 to avoid [Francis Ngannou] and that Jon didn’t really want to fight Francis…but now the narrative doesn’t suit Dana…”

The lineal MMA world champion Francis Ngannou added:

“Divert attention to the real matter by manipulating the narrative. Lol”

As the Jake Paul fight approached, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyon began to bring out his darker side which won him heavyweight accolades during his golden era.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

In his prime, the heavyweight boxing legend ‘Iron‘ Mike Tyson was feared for his incredible punching power. This strength earned him world titles and a whopping 88% knockout win rate in the ring. Tyson is set to face ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul on November 15 streamed on Netflix.

Jake Paul was a YouTube celebrity who was able to leverage this fame into a lucrative boxing career. Along the way, he has out-boxed former UFC fighters such as Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Diaz, among others.

Speaking in a fight trailer, the 58-year-old Mike Tyson said:

“I won’t do anything if I don’t risk being embarrassed. Like now, I want to fight this young m*****f*****. He’s a manufactured killer. I’m a natural-born killer. Hard work defines me. I look at myself as a liberator. I created guys like Jake Paul.” [Ht Talksport]

After his knockout win against BKFC and UFC athlete ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry, Jake Paul called out for a match against the heavyweight great. ‘The Problem Child’ said:

“Mike, I love you, but I’m gonna take your throne, brother.”

Mike Tyson has not been active in boxing since the early 2000s. His most recent professional bout was a loss in 2005. More recently, he took on an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. which ended in a draw. The upcoming Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight is reported to be a professional boxing bout.

The British-Canadian boxer Lennox Lewis, the man to dethrone Tyson in his prime remarked on the bout saying:

I have spoken to Mike, just about fighting. Let’s hope his health is okay. You can’t see things on the outside that may be affecting you on the inside. I wouldn’t want to say he is okay then all of a sudden something happens.”

Could Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson bring about the end of boxing?

Paul vs. Tyson will emanate from the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, November 15. The fight is scheduled to air live on Netflix around the world and will be available at no extra charge for the streaming giant’s 282 million paid subscribers.

Mike Tyson

From the moment their clash was first announced earlier this year, fighters, fans, and pundits alike have expressed concern over the 58-year-old Tyson stepping into the ring for a professional boxing match with the 27-year-old YouTube star. Despite that, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation saw fit to approve the contest.

Offering his take on the controversial clash, former fighter Paulie Malignaggi believes that if things go awry for the former undisputed heavyweight world champion, it could result in calls for an all-out ban on the sport.

“When you’re older, your body isn’t made for that kind of damage anymore,” Malignaggi told The Mirror. “Things could go badly wrong. If something like that happened, people would be calling for the sport to be banned. Personally, I don’t think his fight with Jake Paul should happen.

“He’ll be 58 years old by then. Fifty-eight is still 58. We live in a generation that doesn’t understand aging is a real thing. You can show highlights of Mike from the ’80s, but the guy stepping into the ring won’t be that same Mike Tyson.”

Malignaggi believes Jake Paul could do some serious damage to tyson

Jake Paul goes into the fight with a 10-1 record, a majority of his wins coming against MMA fighters past their prime and boxers who had long walked away from the sport before returning to cash in on a fight with ‘The Problem Child.’ But despite his slim experience, especially when compared to Tyson, Malignaggi notes that Paul is far from an amateur and could do some serious damage to a man 31 years his elder.

“After four years of boxing, I won the US National Championships, so Jake’s far from a beginner,” Malignaggi said. “He’s strong and young. Hitting someone Tyson’s age has serious risks. Tyson wasn’t taking punches well at 36, let alone now.”

“If you hit a guy who’s that old, it affects them. Imagine what getting hit by a strong guy like Jake would do to him. I wouldn’t want to find out.”

Mike Tyson walked away from the sport following a sixth-round TKO loss against Kevin McBride in June 2005. Since then, he has competed once in an eight-round charity boxing match against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr.

‘Iron’ is one of the most beloved figures the sport has ever produced and he continues to be a name fans recognize, whether it’s for his iconic run inside the ring, his appearances in film and television, or his popular Tyson 2.0 line of premiere hemp products.

“[If Paul] wins, there’s a huge bad taste in the world of boxing,’ he added. “It’s a disappointment to an organization that has loved Mike Tyson. It is like the death of somebody and it should be victorious for Jake Paul and I think on that small group of people that are following, yes, but, in that whole atmosphere of boxing, it’s gonna feel like somebody died.”

With his fight against Mike Tyson right around the corner, Jake Paul has the internet talking about his chances against the former unified heavyweight world champion.

On Friday, November 15, ‘The Problem Child’ will square off against Tyson inside the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Airling live and exclusively on Netflix worldwide, Paul vs. Tyson is expected to be one of the most-watched fights of all time.

Recently, Paul shared footage from a recent sparring session that appears to have gotten the internet’s attention. In the clip, which you can see below, ‘El Gallo’ appears to duck a shot and come back with an overhand right that puts his partner on the canvas.

“Don’t charge at me, Tyson,” Paul said while looking directly at the camera.

Most people were quick to dismiss the clip, many suggesting that Paul landed a good shot on a non-boxer or a journeyman. However, it was later revealed that the man sparring with the YouTube star was actually little-known unbeaten pro boxer DeAndre Savage.

After more than 20 fights as an amateur, Savage turned pro in 2021 and has rattled off six straight wins, all of them coming by way of knockout. He also has two no-contests on his record that he was expected to win.

Jake Paul recently issued an audacious $5 million challenge to Mike Tyson ahead of their highly anticipated boxing clash.

“The Problem Child” is preparing to face off against Tyson in an eight-round heavyweight contest set for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Originally scheduled for July 20, the fight was postponed after “Iron Mike” experienced an ulcer flare-up in May.

Ever since the fight was announced earlier this year, the matchup has been met with widespread skepticism, largely due to the substantial 31-year age gap between Paul and Tyson. Despite the doubts, the boxing icon has repeatedly assured fans that he’s in top form and more than ready to step back into the ring.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion hung up his gloves after facing Kevin McBride in June 2005. However, Tyson returned to the squared circle in November 2022 for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which concluded in a draw.

Meanwhile, Paul is riding high on the momentum of a sixth-round knockout victory over Mike Perry in July. Currently on a four-fight winning streak, he has only tasted defeat once, falling to Tommy Fury via split decision in February 2023. “The Problem Child” has made a name for himself by toppling former MMA stars, including Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.

With just a month remaining until their matchup, Paul has thrown out an intriguing proposition for “Iron Mike” that could earn him an extra hefty payday.

Paul Offers $5M If Tyson Lasts Beyond Round 4

In a TikTok video earlier this week, Paul raised the stakes for his upcoming bout with Tyson, offering a lucrative $5 million bonus if the boxing legend can withstand his barrage past the fourth round. However, the YouTuber-turned-boxer added a playful twist—should ‘Iron Mike’ fail, he’ll have to get a tattoo that reads, “I Love Jake Paul.”

“Mikey Mikey, if you can last more than four rounds with me, I’ll give you an extra $5 million,” Paul said in the video. “But if you don’t, then you have to get a tattoo that says, ‘I Love Jake Paul.’”

Paul’s tattoo challenge isn’t exactly a new tactic. After his victory over Woodley in August 2021, the former UFC welterweight champion demanded an immediate rematch. “The Problem Child” agreed, but only on one condition: if he triumphed again, Woodley would have to get an “I Love Jake Paul” tattoo.

True to his word, after Paul knocked him out, “The Chosen One” followed through and inked the tattoo on the inside of his middle finger.
