Tyron Woodley tried to get an ‘I Love Jake Paul’ tattoo, but the artist never showed up for the appointment.

Jake Paul offered Woodley a rematch after defeating him via split decision in a boxing match; only if he got the tattoo. Since 10 minutes after the fight finished, Woodley has been trying to gain the rematch with Paul. It’s no secret that the fight with Paul was one of Woodley’s biggest pay day. It was said that Woodley made upwards of $2 million in his fight with ‘The Problem Child’.

Paul gave Woodley a specific set of guidelines for his tattoo after issuing the terms for a rematch. Woodley in his interview with TMZ proclaimed he was actually waiting for the artist to show but, Paul’s artist was the one who no-showed. “It wasn’t willing,it was waiting. I was waiting on him to follow through with their end of the deal.”

It seems as if Paul has moved on to other possible lanes in terms of his next match. There has been back and forth recently between Paul and Jorge ‘Gamebred‘ Masvidal. Paul has been calling Masvidal out and even insinuated that he wasn’t in control of what he could do with his career. UFC president Dana White came out and said there would be no way Masvidal would fight Paul.

The Woodley-Paul saga may be finished, but Woodley will be returning to the booth for UFC Vegas 37. Although the boxing match with Paul did not go his way, it is nice to see a familiar analysts face this weekend. The legendary former Welterweight champ always has very good insight on the fights. Expect him to be as resourceful as ever in his return to the booth.

Dana White Utters A Common Expression To Reformed Bully Jake Paul

Dana White is telling self-proclaimed reformed bully Jake Paul something that bullies around the world have always heard: Pick on someone your own size.

YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul is off to a 4-0 start and has raked in piles of cash along the way. However, in spite of getting off to a strong start based on all the available numbers, there is one number differential that hasn’t been considered a good look for him by some onlookers: the natural weight gap between him and his opponents.

In addition to this criticism, there has also been a consistent call for Paul to face better competition. UFC President Dana White has already told Paul to start fighting professional boxers, and he has recently expressed doubt that Paul would even agree to fight Anderson Silva in light of Silva’s recent boxing success.

This prompted Paul to issue a challenge to Dana White: allow him to fight Jorge Masvidal. If Paul wins, he can continue fighting UFC fighters any time. If Paul loses, he would never bother White about this subject again. In his response to Paul’s challenge, White issued a challenge in return. And it’s the one Paul may have heard before during his bullying days.

“Masvidal’s 170 pounds. He likes 170-pounders. Go fight somebody your own size,” White said. “Anderson Silva’s not under contract, he’s 46 years old – that’s the age group you love to fight – and he’s your size and he’s actually winning fights. If you look at Jake Paul’s history, Jake Paul either fights basketball players who have never fought or he wants to fight washed-up older guys who haven’t won fights in years. Anderson Silva has actually been boxing, he’s won some fights, he’s 46 years old, and he’s in your weight class. There you go. That’s a no-brainer. Fight Anderson Silva…

“Fans would actually probably like to see that fight. It’s actually a viable fight that would actually sell some pay-per-views. Cause no matter what they tell ya, he ain’t f*cking selling pay-per-views. The brother did. Logan, when he fought Floyd Mayweather, they sold some PPVs. Triller ain’t selling jack sh*t. Those guys couldn’t f*cking give away pay-per-views. If Jake Paul goes out and actually fights Anderson Silva, it’s a viable fight.”

Dana White isn’t the only one who has expressed interest in seeing a Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva fight, with Silva himself being among them. As for Jake Paul, he has opened up about the possibility of the fight coming together but is currently leaning against it. The Cleveland native views the fight as being mostly a lose-lose situation for him due mostly to Silva’s age.

Do you think Anderson Silva is the opponent that makes the most sense for Jake Paul next?

Dana White Nixes Jake Paul vs. Jorge Masvidal Talk: ‘Go Fight Somebody Your Own Size’

Dana White

UFC President Dana White is adamant about YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul fighting someone closer to his size rather than Jorge Masvidal who currently campaigns at 170lbs after spending most of his career at lightweight. While Paul has been calling out UFC fighters like Masvidal, White suggested he fight someone that isn’t under contract with him, most notably Anderson Silva.

“Masvidal’s 170 pounds,” White told The Daily Telegraph. “He likes 170-pounders. Go fight somebody your own size. Anderson Silva’s not under contract, he’s 46 years old – that’s the age group you love to fight – and he’s your size and he’s actually winning fights. If you look at Jake Paul’s history, Jake Paul either fights basketball players who have never fought or he wants to fight washed up older guys who haven’t won fights in years. Those guys couldn’t f*cking give away pay-per-views. If Jake Paul goes out and actually fights Anderson Silva, it’s a viable fight.”

White and Paul have had a contentious history on social media, repeatedly taking shots at each other on a weekly basis. However, even White has been able to admit that Paul’s ability to promote and market himself is impressive and his unique persona is why Showtime needs him.

“Showtime needs f*cking Jake Paul,” White said. “Their fucking fights are pulling 70K viewers for Christ’s sake. I could take a picture of my fucking big toe and put it on Instagram and more would see that than a Showtime fight. They need Jake Paul. So whatever they’re f*cking paying him, it’s probably not enough. They probably need to pay him more. They need that f*cking guy.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Certainly some interesting words from the UFC president regarding Jake Paul. Only time will tell where the journey for Paul takes him in the sport of boxing, but it’s hard to deny his innate ability to sell himself.

Who should Jake Paul fight next? How would he fare against Anderson Silva or Jorge Masvidal?

Yoel Romero

Yoel Romero has revealed that he was in serious talks for a fight with Jake Paul before the YouTuber backed out and he signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Romero claimed that he was offered a fight with Paul before the internet celebrity opted to face Ben Askren instead.

“What happened was, initially Jake Paul wanted to do a fight with Yoel, but then when Yoel wanted to do it, the Paul team canceled the fight,” Romero’s translator said.

“Initially they wanted to do the fight with Yoel. That was when he was just getting out of the UFC, he had not signed with Bellator yet, and they said eventually no they don’t want Yoel… They decided to go with Ben Askren.” Romero’s translator explained to Helwani.

Romero believes the fact Paul chose to fight Askren instead of him proves the 24-year-old is not interested in facing true tests inside the squared circle.

“They don’t want to face a real fighter,” Romero said via his translator. “(The Paul brothers) are just trying to make it a show and they don’t want to ruin their show. They’re finding the easy fights. Even though (Logan) fought Mayweather, but the thing is, there’s a huge weight difference.” (Transcribed by MMA News)

The Cuban fighter was supposed to square off against Anthony Johnson in his Bellator debut earlier this year before a failed medical scuppered those plans. Romero will finally make his promotional bow when he takes on the former light-heavyweight champion, Phil Davis, at Bellator 266 on September 18.

According to former UFC title challenger Yoel Romero, he was in line to fight Jake Paul before Ben Askren but implies the YouTuber turned boxer canceled the potential showdown.

Widespread shock ran through the MMA community when many were surprised to find out that “The Soldier Of God” was released from the UFC. Even though the chiseled 44-year old was on a losing streak, many claim it was only due to him fighting the very best in the world. Nevertheless, Romero moved on and joined Bellator. While the Brazilian was set for a fiery debut against fellow knockout artist Anthony Johnson, tragedy struck and an injury forced Romero out of the highly anticipated debut.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, it was revealed by Romero that he was offered to fight Jake Paul prior to Ben Askren signing the dotted line but the plans caught a snag.

According to Romero and his translator, the fight with Paul was somewhat close to materializing. Even so, the Paul team decided to move on from “The Soldier Of God” and target Askren instead. The Brazilian known for his explosive striking believes the Paul brothers have very little desire to actually get into the ring with a seasoned fighter.

“They don’t want to face a real fighter. (The Paul brothers) are just trying to make it a show and they don’t want to ruin their show. They’re finding the easy fights. Even though (Logan) fought Mayweather, but the thing is, there’s a huge weight difference,” Romero said, through his translator.

Romero is adamant that the Paul brothers are more concerned with the brilliance of a show than the actual fight. In the midst of all the negotiating, Romero was just departing from the UFC where he fought his contract out after spending seven years with the company.

Yoel Romero will finally make his explosive Bellator debut in the main event this Saturday on Sept. 18 at Bellator 266. The 44-year old light heavyweight will be matched with a fellow ex-UFC fighter in Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis.

[UPDATE]

While Tyron Woodley seems to have ditched his idea for an Instagram Live session with Jake Paul mentioned in the article below, he has set a tentative date for when he could follow through with the highly hyped and hitherto hypothetical “I Love Jake Paul” tattoo.

Tyron Woodley has a new idea on how to seal the rematch between him and Jake Paul (h/t MMA reporter Nick Baldwin).

If Woodley follows through on this report and gets branded with Jake Paul’s name on Saturday, we will usher the breaking news straight to you right here on MMANews.com.

[ORIGINAL STORY PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 15, 2021, 8:00 PM]

Prior to the Paul/Woodley boxing contest last month, the two came to an agreement on a rather strange tattoo bet. The loser would get a tattoo that professes their love for the winner. Things turned complicated after Paul was awarded the split-decision victory, however. Woodley interrupted Paul’s post-fight interview to demand a rematch because he felt wronged by the judges. Paul agreed to grant Woodley the rematch on the condition that he follows through on the tattoo bet agreement.

Now in mid-September, Woodley still has not gotten the tattoo due to the fact that he has been awaiting official paperwork that guarantees the rematch. Meanwhile, Paul has stopped waiting and has moved on from Woodley altogether. As Paul explains it, Woodley took too long when dragging his feet on getting the tattoo, and now all the buzz around the pairing has fizzled out. Woodley isn’t buying the veracity of Paul’s stated reasons for declining the rematch.

“It’s off because I didn’t get the tattoo? You a fuckin’ lie,” Woodley began when speaking to TMZ Sports this week. It’s off because somebody got to him in the locker room, he had just got punched around, knocked through the ropes—they put those nice little Cleveland ropes in there to keep him in there—and then Jake…I talked to my manager, I’m like, ‘Cool, what we doin’?’ We gettin’ this fuckin’ tattoo? Where the shit at for the rematch?’”

Woodley reiterated that all it took for him to get the tattoo was Paul’s team taking the necessary steps to guarantee the rematch, and he gave them more than an adequate amount of time to do so in the dark hours immediately following the event.

“I was waiting! I was waiting. I wasn’t willing; I was waiting. We had no food. All the chicken wings was gone, all the pizza was gone, everything you want to eat after a fight, everything was gone,” Woodley said. “We was in the basement of the hotel waiting, no food, up looking stupid. No, I was not willing. It was waiting. And I was waiting on them to follow through on their end of the deal.”

Jake Paul may have moved on from the idea of a Paul/Woodley II marquee, but Woodley hasn’t. In fact, he has even presented a new proposal for the YouTuber that includes Woodley finally getting the “I ? Jake Paul” tattoo.

“Shit, tell [Jake Paul] let’s go live,” Woodley instructed the TMZ interviewer. “I’mma talk some more shit to you, and you can watch me get this dumb-ass tattoo while we go live on Instagram.”

Jake Paul has named Tommy Fury as a strong candidate for his next fight and has also said he’d be fighting Masvidal next if it were totally up to him. An undeterred Woodley is not changing course just yet, however, and is clearly willing to do whatever it takes to stand across from Paul in a boxing ring again.

What do you make of this last-ditch effort from Woodley to score the Jake Paul rematch?
