None seemed to be more excited about the loss of Conor McGregor than YouTube star / up and coming boxer Jake Paul who took to Twitter sharing some words for the former champion immediately after his loss.

Late in 2020, Paul took aim at Conor McGregor following his knockout victory over NBA star Nate Robinson, however, it appeared the former UFC champion had no interest in taking on the YouTuber. At that point, Paul had offered McGregor a sum of 50 million dollars to enter the boxing ring against him, since this recent upset, however, the offer according to Paul has shrunk substantially to just $10,000.

McGregor made his long-awaited return to the octagon to take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. Heading into the matchup McGregor was seen as the favorite by many and had teased that he would showcase the best form of McGregor we have seen yet. Starting off the fight McGregor looked great aside from an early takedown by Poirier even coming close to finishing the fight near the end of the first. In the second round, however, wild McGregor started off strong Poirier found momentum and a big shot allowing him to turn the tides and take the former double champ out with a barrage of shots.

While Paul may be aiming at a matchup with McGregor in boxing, the former UFC champion’s name has been attached to an upcoming bout with boxing royalty Manny Pacquiao. UFC President Dana White has said that it is unlikely that the boxing bout with Pacquiao happens this year, and given that McGregor remains under contract with the UFC the chances of McGregor entering the boxing ring this year against anyone seem slim.

Currently, Paul boasts a 2-0 professional boxing record with his first victory coming against a fellow YouTube and his second against the NBA star in Robinson.

Jake Paul is still pursuing a boxing match against MMA superstar Conor McGregor.

The YouTube celebrity transitioned to 2020 and looked good against extremely low-level opposition. Paul stretched his undefeated professional record to 2-0 when he sensationally knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Post-fight, the 23-year-old called for a fight with McGregor and his SBG teammate Dillon Danis. Since then, Paul has relentlessly pursued both men.

He made a public offer of $50 million to McGregor for the fight while also taking shots at his fiancée Dee Devlin.

The internet celebrity also gate-crashed a recent Danis interview, throwing water balloons at the BJJ wizard before driving away.

McGregor has ignored the callouts until recently. In an interview with Bloomberg ‘Notorious’ finally address ‘The YouTube Kid’, Jake Paul and refused to rule out fighting him.

“The numbers that that show calculated was a Mike Tyson fight. You had an icon fighting as well as Roy Jones Jr., two GOATs [greatest of all time] of combat sports,” McGregor said.

“And then you had the YouTube kid and NBA star competing underneath that. So they done good business. Am I into those competitions myself? You know it’s not the most high-level – if any level – at that stage…

“As they say, if it makes dollars, it makes sense. I know Dana [White] and the UFC are not really into it, but I’m not so against it. I think if people are willing to get in and take the risk of making that walk, I’m certainly a viewer.”

In his latest Instagram post, the American dines on some chicken while accusing McGregor of avoiding him.

Conor McGregor has given his thoughts on the rise of YouTube celebrities such as Logan and Jake Paul crossing over into boxing.

Logan Paul is set to square off against one of the greatest boxers ever, Floyd Mayweather on February 20. The 25-year-old has fought just once in professional boxing and fell short when doing so against fellow viral superstar KSI. The pair previously fought to a draw in an amateur bout.

Jake Paul has found more success in the squared circle. After impressing in his lone amateur bout Paul turned professional in 2020 and looked good against low-level opposition. In November he picked up a highlight-reel knockout against former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Since then the younger Paul brother has been calling for a fight with McGregor. The viral star has been relentless in his attempts to convince ‘Notorious’ to box him. Former dual weight UFC champion McGregor has been uncharacteristically quiet about this.

In an interview with Bloomberg, McGregor commented on the rise of YouTube boxing, he said.

“If they are fighting well then it can’t make a mockery of fighting. They’re getting in and competing. I am not so much against it. What I will say though is the numbers that that show calculated was a Mike Tyson fight. You had an icon fighting as well as Roy Jones Jr., two GOATs [greatest of all time] of combat sports.

“And then you had the YouTube kid and NBA star competing underneath that. So they done good business. Am I into those competitions myself? You know it’s not the most high-level – if any level – at that stage. Obviously the Tyson vs Jones fight was very high level and very interesting to see what they’re like in their older age. I thought they both fought amazingly.

McGregor wouldn’t rule out fighting someone from the YouTube world.

“As they say, if it makes dollars, it makes sense,” McGregor concluded. “I know Dana [White] and the UFC are not really into it, but I’m not so against it. I think if people are willing to get in and take the risk of making that walk, I’m certainly a viewer.”
