Joanna Jedrzejczyk offers some encouragement to her rival Rose Namajunas after the former champ suffered a recent loss.

Obviously, there is some history between these two former UFC women’s strawweight champions. Despite this, it didn’t stop Jedrzejczyk from being nice to her in the wake of defeat.

Their first fight went down in November 2017 at UFC 217 where Namajunas won with a first-round knockout and their second fight went down at the UFC 223 pay-per-view event in April 2018 that saw Namajunas win by decision.

Jessica Andrade KO’d Namajunas by a slam in the second round to win the UFC women’s strawweight title in the main event of the UFC 237 pay-per-view event. This show took place on Saturday night (May 11, 2019) at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.

Jedrzejczyk took to her official Twitter account where she wrote the following:

“Keep ya head up @rosenamajunas ?? You made it to the special league – League of the #UFCCHAMPIONS ?? it stays 4ever.”

Pat Barry Criticizes Joanna Jedrzejczyk For Not Accepting Rose Namajunas Losses

Joanna Jedrzejczyk apparently needs to just move on.

The post Pat Barry Criticizes Joanna Jedrzejczyk For Not Accepting Rose Namajunas Losses appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Despite the fact that former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was on top of the division for years, there is one person who believes that she needs to move on as she is no longer the champ and the best in the division.

That person is Pat Barry, who is not only a former fighter but also is the coach of and fiancé of current UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, as he recently went on record by stating that although he respects Jedrzejczyk’s talent, he believes that she cannot accept defeat, and as a result of not doing that, she is hurting herself to grow as a pro-MMA fighter. This is something to be concerned about coming from Barry as he understands that you can learn as much from losing a fight compared to winning and must fix your mistakes.

As seen on the main card of the UFC on FOX 30 event at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that aired on big FOX, the former UFC women’s strawweight champion scored a decision win over Tecia Torres in a women’s strawweight bout and this all comes off the fact that after the fight, Jedrzejczyk called for a third fight with Namajunas.

“I think that Joanna is f*cking herself over by not accepting defeat,” Barry told MMA Fighting at Thursday’s UFC 227 media day. “That’s why she lost to Valentina three times. Lost the first time, she got robbed. Lost the second time, she got robbed. Lost the third time. Knockout to Rose, wasn’t her fault. Lost a decision, wasn’t her fault. She wants to fight Rose again. She’s not going to be able to. It’s still going to be Rose.”

“You can grow from losing,” said Barry, who will corner JJ Aldrich for her main-card fight with Polyana Viana on Saturday night. “If you’re not going to grow from that, how are you going to get better? It’s not her fault that anything ever want wrong in her life. It’s everyone else’s fault but hers.

“Honestly, as good as Joanna is — she’s a f*cking fantastic athlete, she’s a dominant athlete, one of the best female fighters to ever live, ever — if she accepted the responsibility for it, how much better would she get? How much better would she be if she accepted it, worked on making some changes? How much better would she be? But she’s been so dominant for so long, I don’t think she’s going to make any changes.”

Their first fight went down in November at UFC 217 where Namajunas won with a first-round knockout and their second fight went down at the UFC 223 pay-per-view event in April that saw Namajunas win by decision.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk Eyes Third Rose Namajunas Fight After Latest Win

Joanna Jedrzejczyk has vowed to be champion again.

The post Joanna Jedrzejczyk Eyes Third Rose Namajunas Fight After Latest Win appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk got another W in the win column in her latest fight and is now seeking a title shot.

As seen on the main card of Saturday’s (July 28, 2018) UFC on FOX 30 event at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that aired on big FOX, the former UFC women’s strawweight champion scored a decision win over Tecia Torres in a women’s strawweight bout.

Following the fight, she made it clear that she wants another crack at current champ Rose Namajunas, who holds two victories over Jedrzejczyk as their first fight went down in November at UFC 217 where Namajunas won with a first-round knockout and their second fight went down at the UFC 223 pay-per-view event in April that saw Namajunas win by decision.

“I will not do this,” Jedrzejczyk told reporters, including MMAjunkie, at the UFC on FOX 30 post-event news conference. “Never ever. She wants my honor? She must earn that. If she’s going to run, they’re going to make an interim belt. She was saying that she’s afraid Conor McGregor will show up again and make a mess like he did before Brooklyn. He’s not going to do this. Don’t be afraid, Rose. Come on. Just fight. Just face the best.”

“Rose saying that she will give me the third fight after I will say that she is the best? No way,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Maybe you beat me, and you’re the champion, and you won, but your legacy is not that big. You should bow down because I am the queen. I give her respect.”

“What I’m hearing is that she’s not really injured,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Maybe she is. I don’t know. Maybe she is injured, so I am sorry. I give her credit. She’s the champ. … If she’s injured, OK. But if she’s just playing, and she just wants holiday, let UFC know that. ‘I want a holiday, I want a break.’ Let UFC make an interim belt, and let’s fight for the belt.”

“I will chase you,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I will chase the belt. I will chase you until the next fight. … I will become a champion again.”

It will be interesting to see how this plays out as it doesn’t appear to be any other title caliber fighters in the division right now and Namajunas is not fit to fight anyone at the moment because she claims that she is dealing with an injury that will likely keep her out for the rest of the year but one would think that Jedrzejczyk needs to get a few more wins under her belt to get a title shot.

Rose Namajunas Refuses Conor McGregor’s Online Apology: ‘F**k That’

Rose Namajunas wasn’t about to accept Conor McGregor’s apology on Instagram:

Many prominent MMA personalities were affected by Conor McGregor’s chaotic Brooklyn outburst two days before April 7’s UFC 223.

The attack, where the former champion threw a metal dolly threw a bus containing rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, left two fighters injured and unable to compete on the event and also forced a third fight off the card when McGregor friend (and accomplice) Artem Lobov was pulled from his scheduled fight with Alex Caceres.

But the incident, which eventually saw McGregor incarcerated for assault charges overnight and awaiting court this June, almost had a far more impactful effect on the event, as UFC women’s strawweight Rose Namajunas was in the bus and visibly shaken by the events, to the point where she even considered not fighting Joanna Jedrzejczyk on the card.

While “Thug” Rose did decide to fight on and beat her rival by unanimous decision, things are still not good between her and McGregor. According to Outside the Cage on Twitter, Namajunas had a seething reply to “The Notorious” when he tried to apologize to her on Instagram, simply saying, “F*** that, call Pat,” in reference to her longtime partner Pat Barry.

Namajunas also addressed the incident during a recent appearance on The Jim & Sam Show (via MMA Mania), noting that the situation is far from ideal because even though she picked up a second victory over a woman who just months ago was talked up as the best female MMA fighter of all-time, she’s only asked about the attack, so that accomplishment will always be overshadowed by what McGregor did:

“It just sucks because that’s the question that’s always gonna be asked. And it’s like, ‘Look what I did.’”

A fair point from “Thug” Rose to be certain because her second consecutive win over a historic women’s champion is undoubtedly being overshadowed by a needless, violent event that not only injured innocent people but forced three fights off of the most anticipated pay-per-view of the year thus far.

The focus will likely always remain on McGregor and his antics from the weekend, however, and it’s hard to look past Namajunas’ desire for her efforts in the cage to be focused on rather than a crime committed by a superstar who has shown he cares about little else than going off the rails in his post-Mayweather period of debauchery.

In that sense, you can see why she isn’t accepting McGregor’s apology.

Five months after UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas shocked the MMA world by knocking out dominant former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at last November’s UFC 217, the two top-ranked 115-pound women locked horns a second time in the co-main event of tonight’s (Sat., April 7, 2018) UFC 223 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In a close, hard-fought affair, Namajunas retained her belt thanks to three 49-46 scorecards from the judges, but many believed it should have been more like 48-47 after the champion arguably won the bout by winning the fifth and final round.

At the outset of the pivotal title bout, the two rivals refused to touch gloves:

Namajunas started out strong, tagging Jedrzejczyk with several flurries including this one at the end of the first round:

The champion followed it up with a huge left, the punch that floored the former champ in their first fight:

But even though the first two rounds went to the champ, the momentum began to shift in the third and fourth rounds as Jedrzejczyk found her groove by landing a steady volume of vicious low kicks.
With the shift weighing on the champ, the two fighters traded big shots in the fourth round:

The tide had turned, and it may have come down to just who could edge out the fifth and possibly deciding frame. Namajunas cam out aggressive and landed some big shots during the fifth, and in the end, she closed out the round big with an important takedown to defend her 115-pound belt for the first time:

Former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has a different tune going into UFC 223.

It’s already been announced that the former champ will fight current UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas in the co-main event of this upcoming pay-per-view event.

This marks the second time that Namajunas will take on previously undefeated Jedrzejczyk. If you recall, they fought back in November at UFC 217 where Namajunas won with a first-round knockout.

Going into their first encounter, Jedrzejczyk’s antics were talked about a lot as she brought up Namajunas’ history of mental instability. Before UFC 217, there were many people who believed that Jedrzejczyk was the best female fighter on the planet.

Jedrzejczyk stated in a recent interview that she is going to bounce back stronger than ever. She also noted that although “Thug Rose” won the battle, she won’t win the war.

“We all can fall,” Jedrzejczyk told MMANytt. “This is what I’m going to do, I’m going to dedicate this fight to people who fell and they don’t have the power to raise up, but I will show to them that it’s worth it. I will raise up. I raised already, so I will show the people that it’s worth it. It’s worth it to stand up and fight.”

UFC 223 is set to take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6 p.m. ET.

“I have so much respect for Rose Namajunas, same as I had before the first fight,” said Jedrzejczyk (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). “I didn’t disrespect her. … The thing is, everyone can win [a] short fight, quick fight. Of course, she did it perfect. She punched me, she was so precise and she had enough power that night to knock me out. But, like I said, I was not a competitor that night. I went through so many wars, and maybe she won a battle, but she’s not going to win a war. I’m going to win on April 7.”

“You can build your legacy and your legacy can be big, but even after you slip or fall, you learn, and your legacy is getting even bigger,” Jedrzejczyk said. “This fight, this one fight on April 7, and the victory that night, is going to be bigger than all of my UFC fights.”
