Whatever Jorge Masvidal does next, it’s bound to be huge. However, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan knows exactly what he wants to see next from “Gamebred.”

Taking to his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan discussed all the likely scenarios for Masvidal. In Rogan’s opinion, he thinks Masvidal should fight the winner of Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington for the welterweight title. Usman vs. Covington headlines UFC 245 on pay-per-view (PPV) on December 14. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“I see why he would say that but I think it would be a real shame if right now in his prime of primes, he didn’t fight for the title,” Rogan said. “I just feel like he’s so close. He’s huge right now.”

Then, Rogan was asked by guest and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub if he wants to see Masvidal fight Nick Diaz or Conor McGregor next. However, Rogan seems dead set on seeing the Floridian fight for gold.

“No,” Rogan said. “Well, I wanna see first no matter what Colby and Usman. Yes, super excited about that. Once that’s done, I want Masvidal to fight for the title whoever’s got the belt. I think if Masvidal and Nick Diaz don’t fight on the undercard, I don’t even know if they actually made that. I have no idea.

“If they do make that fight happen, I mean of course I’m gonna be excited to see it. Of course, but my thoughts are that right now we’re experiencing Masvidal in this very strange zone where you see fighters enter into it whether it’s through this rededication or refocusing of his intent and his discipline.”

Do you think Masvidal should fight the winner of Usman vs. Covington next?

Conor McGregor is set to return to the Octagon on January 18 inside the T-Mobile Arena from Las Vegas, Nevada. McGregor will take on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a welterweight main event on pay-per-view (PPV) for UFC 246.

Many fans were surprised that McGregor opted to take the fight at 170 pounds, especially when he’s gunning for a title fight at lightweight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. On a recent episode of longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan offered his thoughts on why McGregor is fighting Cerrone at welterweight. (H/T MMA Fighting)

“Because Conor doesn’t want to lose any weight,” Rogan said. “I think that guy tortured himself to get down to 145 so hard – and when you look at what he looked like when he was on the scale, when he was flexing, he looked like a god damn zombie. It was horrible. So I think, whether he complains or not about that, nobody rides for free.

“You do that to your body for a couple of years, you do some damage and it makes it harder to lose the weight afterwards. So then he’s going up to 155. He’s obviously elite at 155, wins the title at 155, has the great rematch with Diaz at 170 and then comes back and fights Khabib at 155 and gets mauled.

“He has a fight with Cowboy, he’s really a 55er that can fight welterweight. That’s the right size for him versus, I don’t think Nate is fighting 155 any time in the future anymore.”

Rogan then explained why he thinks this is a smart option, on behalf of McGregor, suggesting the Irishman doesn’t see Cerrone as a true welterweight.

“He’s fighting a guy who, I think in his eyes is not really a welterweight,” Rogan said. “I think he thinks of Cowboy as a guy who will fight at 170 but he’s really a 55er… I think Conor’s calculated in his comeback. I think this is a smart fight for him because he’s not fighting someone who is too big, where I feel like that was the argument about Nate even though Nate did fight at 155 for a long time. He’s a big dude.

“And then there’s some other guys that want to fight him at 170 that are real 170s. [Jorge] Masvidal is a perfect example of that. Masvidal was a 155er for a long time but he’s not anymore.”

What do you think about Rogan’s prediction as to why McGregor has opted to fight at 170 pounds?

Joe Rogan has been a big supporter of UFC lightweight and welterweight competitor Kevin Lee over the past few years.

Rogan linked Lee up with current trainer and Tristar Gym owner Firas Zahabi. The results certainly paid off, as Lee just knocked out top prospect Gregor Gillespie with a first-round finish by way of a head kick. It was a shockingly impressive performance from Lee, who ended a two-fight losing streak with the win.

Recently, Rogan took to his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” in which he spoke to Zahabi about Lee’s performance. Rogan praised Lee, who he said isn’t even in the prime of his career yet at 27-years-old. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“He just turned 27,” Rogan said. “He’s f**king not even in his prime. He’s also experienced failure, and experienced fights where he didn’t live up to his potential. I think that ultimately will be a motivating force, because we see what he can do when he’s really focused.”

Rogan also praised Lee for taking a dangerous fight in Gillespie when he was already on a two-fight losing streak. Heading into the bout, Gillespie was undefeated and showed no signs of slowing down after dominating his previous opposition.

“Gregor Gillespie’s a dangerous fight, man,” Rogan said. “People see that spectacular, head-kick knockout, and they don’t understand how good Gregor Gillespie is. That kid is a savage. When I found out that Kevin was going to fight Gregor first fight back at 155 [pounds] — dangerous comeback fight. Very high risk.”

Rogan is also a big supporter of Lee moving to Tristar to work under Zahabi, as well as getting the opportunity to work with welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre, who Rogan believes Lee fights very similarly to.

“I’m not saying he’s the same level as Georges, but Georges fights like that, with wrestling and great striking and submissions,” Rogan said. “He mixes it all up. He’s unpredictable in his attacks. They’re very similar. Neither guy is particularly long, both guys are very physically strong. Come on, man, this is the guy.”

What do you think about Rogan praising Lee after his recent knockout win over Gillespie?
