Nate Diaz was done a favor by having his UFC 244 headliner with Jorge Masvidal called off by the doctor — at least, according to Brendan Schaub.

Diaz was completely dominated by Masvidal this past Saturday as he was cut, bloodied and dropped multiple times in their welterweight BMF title fight. However, just before the start of the fourth round, the doctor called an end to the bout due to a cut near Diaz’s eye.

As a result, Masvidal would win via TKO (doctor stoppage) as the crowd let their feelings be heard straight away. Many have since called for a rematch, especially as they believe given Diaz’s cardio and heart, he may have found a way to turn the tide in the fourth and fifth rounds.

However, Schaub doesn’t seem to think so as he believes that was the most dominated Diaz has ever been in a fight:

“I didn’t give a f*ck,” Schaub said on a recent podcast (via MMA Mania). “That’s the best-case scenario for Nate, he was getting f*cked up. His corner never would, I was like, ‘I wonder if they’ll throw in the towel, this keeps going this way? He’s having zero success, this is getting bad.’

“I was to the point where I was like, these 10-8 rounds, not that competitive … that doctor’s stoppage did him a favor. It wasn’t a competitive fight. It was the most dominated Nate Diaz has ever been.”

It’s hard to argue with that, especially as two judges even gave Masvidal a 10-8 round for his showing in the second frame. Had the fight continued, it would have likely ended up being a lopsided decision.

Then again, this is mixed martial arts so who knows for sure?

Do you agree with Schaub?

It looks like Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till shared a moment together backstage at UFC 244 over the weekend. Both men were victorious inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Masvidal picked up a TKO win over Nate Diaz to become the Baddest Mother F*cker in the UFC. As for Till, he edged out a decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum to win his 185-pound debut. Once backstage after the event, Masvidal ran into Till while walking the halls of MSG. The two had a friendly exchange before “Gamebred” continued on his way.

Check it out here, courtesy of Masvidal’s YouTube channel:

Masvidal and Till are no strangers to one another. The pair met earlier this year in London where Masvidal began his vicious two-fight knockout streak. “Gamebred” handed the Englishman the first knockout loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career in the second round.

Since, Masvidal has gone on to record the fastest knockout in UFC history, at five seconds with a flying knee over Ben Askren, and become the BMF Champion of the UFC with his win over Diaz. One thing is for certain, whatever Masvidal does next, it will be for extremely high stakes.

What do you make of Masvidal and Till’s encounter backstage at UFC 244?

Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz at UFC 244 over the weekend started off with Masvidal faking a flying knee. The same knee Masvidal knocked out Ben Askren with in his previous bout.

Diaz moved out of the way before the pair began to laugh. The ESPN MMA Twitter page shared footage of this on their account, to which Ben Askren responded by teasing Diaz for running from “Gamebred.”

“Dawg I thought he was a BMF he literally RAN!!! Should have just taken it like a man.”

This prompted a response from former UFC star and current Bare-Knuckle FC competitor Artem Lobov. Lobov responded by roasting Askren for actually taking the knee, calling “Funky” the “dumbest mother f*cker” in the game.

“That would have been DMF( dumbest mf) and we already seen you TAKE that one!!”

Askren has now suffered back-to-back losses in his UFC tenure, coming off of a submission defeat to Demian Maia. Following the loss, Askren admitted he’s considering retirement from mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, but has yet to make an official announcement on the subject. If he does decide to fight again, it will be interesting to see who he’s matched up against.

What do you think of Lobov’s response to Askren online?
