Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s fight with Conor McGregor only lasted four rounds because the former wanted it that way according to American Kickboxing Academy head coach Javier Mendez.

Nurmagomedov recently submitted Justin Gaethje with a triangle choke in the second round of their UFC 254 headliner this past weekend. Daniel Cormier would later reveal Nurmagomedov applied the chokehold so that he wouldn’t hurt Gaethje in front of his parents who were in attendance.

The same cannot be said for Nurmagomedov’s submission win over McGregor at UFC 229 two years ago. “The Eagle” would triumph over the Irishman in their heated grudge match with a neck crank in the fourth round.

And as per Mendez, it could have ended sooner — if not for the fact that Nurmagomedov wanted to punish McGregor.

“I gather Khabib likes Justin a lot because he finished him sooner than he would’ve with most people,” Mendez told SunSport. “He likes to punish people a bit, ground and pound them. But Justin’s parents were there and he knew Justin wouldn’t tap and he didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents.

“Khabib purposely let Conor go longer, he purposely stood with him, he wanted to punish him. Just because Conor went four rounds it doesn’t mean Khabib had a tougher time trying to finish him – Khabib wanted to punish Conor, he didn’t want to do that with Justin.”

It’s certainly not out of the question even though many observers do feel McGregor deserves credit for taking the fight that far as well as winning the third round.

In the end, it didn’t matter as he eventually lost to Nurmagomedov similar to 28 other opponents.

Do you believe that Nurmagomedov prolonged his fight with McGregor on purpose?

Khabib Nurmagomedov Helps Fan Whose Girlfriend Cheated With Masvidal

Khabib NurmagomedovRetired UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov gave surprising advice to a fan who claims that his girlfriend cheated with Jorge Masvidal.

Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov has GOAT-level mixed martial arts skills, but he’s also a man to go to for advice. For instance, when a fight fan approached the recently retired UFC Lightweight champion with the news that UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal had slept with his girlfriend, Khabib dropped some gems.

Khabib retired last week at the top of the sport with a flawless record of 29-0 after submitting Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Afterwards, the Russian replaced Jon Jones as the Pound-for-pound king.

A hilarious video posted online of Khabib detailing how to exact revenge continues to amuse fans. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“I wanna be like a fighter. Like just recently, because my girlfriend went out in Miami and she just told me she was having a girls night. And then she ended up hooking up with Jorge Masvidal. Like he slept with her. So now, I want to fight that guy.” claimed the young man. “So what do you think is the most important aspect for me to start training? If I want to beat the sh*t out of him?”

“How old are you?” Khabib Nurmagomedov replied.

“I am 26.” the fan responded.

“26? That’s too old for this.” Khabib suggested.

“Like (Jorge) started hanging around with Trump and now he just thinks he can just sleep with other people’s girlfriends? I don’t think it is right.” explained the fan.

“I think, uhh, you have to buy dog.” Khabib replied.

“A dog? Because I would stand no chance with him?” The fan questioned.

“With dog, yes.” Nurmagomedov confirmed. “We have chance.”

“Yeah, because I have been waking up every day and just like hitting like five flying knees.” The fan continued. “I was thinking I could just catch him with one if I see him in a restaurant.”

“You can try,” Khabib replied. “You can try. Maybe it work. But with dog it is going to be much better.”

The fan is a member of the entertainment group NELK Boys, with Dana White recently bringing the group to Fight Island. Nevertheless, having one of the toughest men to ever step into the Octagon giving such a badass answer should be expected.

Colby Covington On Khabib: ‘I’m The Reason That He Doesn’t Come Up’

Colby Covington says he is the reason UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has decided to retire instead of stepping up to welterweight and trying to become a two-weight champion.

Covington was unimpressed with Nurmagomedov’s UFC 254 win over Justin Gaethje who he believes was over-hyped heading into the lightweight unification fight.

“I called that fight to a tee,” Covington told Submission Radio. “I said exactly what was going to happen. You had the fake news media building up Justin Gaethje like he was this All-Star wrestler and he had all the tools to beat Khabib, but what are they talking about? I saw that guy wrestle in college. While I was banging all the prom queens in college and pinning guys’ shoulders to the mat and winning national championships and becoming All-American, I saw Justin Gaethje wrestle. That guy sucked, man, he was a scrub. And just cause you wrestled, doesn’t mean you’re any good. So, I knew exactly how that was gonna go. I knew that Khabib – of course Khabib should be able to beat him, he’s fighting these little midgets. Come on, fight in your own weight class.”

‘Chaos’ believes Nurmagomedov is a natural welterweight. Covington says the undefeated Russian refuses to move up so he can continue beating smaller opponents while simultaneously avoiding a fight with him.

“There was a great American legend hero that said in college, ‘pussies cut weight’. And I’m not talking about Dan Gable, who I was around in college, the guy’s a legend, I’m talking about yours truly. I’m saying, if you have to cut weight, you’re a pussy. Why are you looking for this big advantage to have a weight advantage over these little guys and beat midgets? Come fight in a real man’s weight class.”

“I think I’m the man and I’m the reason that he doesn’t come up to 170 in the first place,” Covington said. “There’s a reason Khabib cuts all that weight. He cuts tonnes of weight. Everybody knows he walks around at like 190. He’s bigger than me. But I’m a real man, I fight in my weight class. I’ll fight a man any size. Khabib’s looking for a way to… he wants to beat up little midgets. Ok, that’s cool, Khabib, you beat up a bunch of little guys, a bunch of little midges. But you’re not gonna fight in a real man’s weight class like 170 or welterweight, because you know I’m the man. You know who’s here, you know you have no chance to keep that undefeated record. So, there’s a reason he’s looking to cut a bunch of weight and there’s a reason I’ll fight any man alive.”

Do you think Colby Covington could beat Khabib Nurmagomedov at 170lbs?
