We previewed the main card earlier this week (RIP Cowboy Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum), so check that out if you missed it. The “prelims” put that name to shame, as just about every fight on this slate could headline a Fox Sports 1 card.

Frankie Edgar will look to rebound from his one-sided loss to interim champion Jose Aldo at UFC 200 when he takes on the brick-fisted Jeremy Stephens. Edgar is one of the fighters who has been penciled in for this card since the idea of doing a card at Madison Square Garden was but a distant dream. The Toms River, NJ, native figures to get a big pop when he makes his walk to the Octagon.

Not even making the headliner of the prelims, Khabib Nurmagomedov will attempt to push his record to an unbelievable 24-0 against the talented but enigmatic Michael Johnson. The rest of the slate sees the return of Thiago Alves, a slugfest between bruising and defensively deficient middleweights Rafael Natal and Tim Boetsch, and what is sure to be a wildly fun welterweight banger between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad.

While she continues to pester UFC officials on social media to get her a fight, Liz Carmouche is going to remain active.

Carmouche, who fought Ronda Rousey in the first-ever female championship fight in the UFC, is planning on competing next month at Eddie Bravo Invitational 8.

Carmouche will battle Maria Henderson on September 11 in a special match as part of the submission jiu-jitsu tournament.

The 32-year-old Carmouche (10-5) has not fought since an early April 2015 victory over Lauren Murphy that snapped a two-fight losing skid. During that time, she was bested by former UFC champion Miesha Tate and one-time challenger Alexis Davis.

Overall, Carmouche is 2-3 in the UFC including her 2013 loss to Rousey.

This week, the mixed martial arts (MMA) community was dealt the shocking revelation that former UFC women’s bantamweight Ronda Rousey actually considered suicide following her devastating knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 when the ultra-popular “Rowdy” revealed her formerly frail state in an emotional interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

There were understandably a mixed bag of reactions to the news, with some of her fans exhibiting compassion and understanding while others showed a cold and cruel lack of remorse in suggesting Rousey was only doing it for attention, and the MMA media justifiably wondered if she is truly ready to step back into the Octagon for the title rematch that is tentatively talked about for late this year.

Either way, it was tough for Rousey to find too much sympathy as a millionaire movie actress whether she has the belt or not, and prominent MMA figures like Holm and former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar spoke out to state that while they felt for Rousey, they didn’t necessarily feel that sorry for her.

It’s no doubt a shall we say, different, point of view from a once-dominant champion who, only four months ago was considered unstoppable and a candidate to retire undefeated as arguably the best fighter in UFC history. Now that that’s gone, however, all of the dynamics might suggest that Rousey won’t win the title again, and her mental state could certainly have a lot to do with that. Let’s take a look at the largest reasons why Rousey won’t regain her title.

In case you missed it on Saturday night, here are some video highlights from the UFC on FOX 11 main card, featuring Fabricio Werdum’s unexpected standup-thrashing of Travis Browne, and Donald Cerrone’s comeback submission victory over Edson Barboza. A couple of important notes…

– Cerrone picked up a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his win over Barboza; Cowboy has now bonus’d in three consecutive fights. All the other UFC on FOX 11 bonuses went to prelim fighters. Thiago Alves and Seth Baczynski won Fight of the Night for their three-rounder which Alves won by unanimous decision, and Performance of the Night #2 went to UFC newcomer Alex White — who was previously involved in the ugliest late-stoppage in MMA history — for his first-round TKO of Estevan Payan.

– At the post-event press conference, Dana White mentioned that Travis Browne suffered a broken hand and possibly broken rib during his fight against Werdum, and Browne’s wrestling coach Ricky Lundell released an x-ray of Hapa’s broken hand after the fight. For some reason, the official UFC on FOX 11 medical suspensions list mentions a broken nose for Browne but not a broken hand. Whatever. The point is, he got pretty messed up.
