Scott Coker Logan Paul

Bellator president Scott Coker would be interested in bringing YouTuber and Boxer Logan Paul to Bellator if he wanted to prove himself against MMA fighters in his promotions.

Coker was in attendance for Paul’s eight-round fight with Hall of Fame boxer Floyd Mayweather on Sunday night and came away impressed by Paul’s prowess in the ring. Paul, a former high school wrestler in Ohio, could be a unique addition to Bellator if both sides wanted to make the move.

“I think this kid has shown athletic ability to go in there with Floyd but also we know he’s a high school all-star wrestler from Ohio and I think they’re just getting better and better at combat sports,” Coker told MMA Fighting when asked about the Paul brothers. “If he wanted to get into MMA, we would do it.”

“As far as combat sports, I think Logan just upped his value. Was it a great fight? No, it was a lot of dirty boxing going on in that fight but let’s face it, Floyd usually goes and closes the gap and takes care of business and he didn’t do it this time.”

Paul echoed Coker’s sentiment during his post-fight press conference after going eight rounds with Mayweather and expressed a profound interest in possibly making a run in MMA at some point in the future.

“Yeah I’d do MMA for sure,” Paul said after the fight. “Because I am a good grappler. I’m a wrestler at heart and I think it’d be silly of me to not use it in boxing, to the best of my ability.”

In comparison, UFC president Dana White has all but dismissed the notion that he would ever bring the Paul brothers to his promotion, but Coker seems extremely interested in making the move happen. Bellator has already had an extremely successful first half of the year of fights, which included Sergio Pettis earning the bantamweight title and women’s featherweight titleholder Cris Cyborg dominating Leslie Smith in her first defense of the year.

The Paul brothers’ stock has skyrocketed this year after Jake Paul defeated former UFC welterweight Ben Askren back in April and Logan just went eight rounds with one of the greatest boxers of all time. It’ll be interesting to see if Coker brings on the 24-year-old Logan at some point in the near future.

Do you think Logan Paul could compete against some of the best fighters that Bellator has to offer?

Henry Cejudo

Former Olympic gold-medalist and two division UFC champion Henry Cejudo wasn’t impressed by Floyd Mayweather‘s performance last night.

Mayweather and Paul went the full eight rounds in their special exhibition boxing match. It was far from an impressive performance by either man, as Paul looked gassed early on and Mayweather appeared to carry him throughout the fight. Paul himself even questioned if Mayweather dragged the fight out when he could have finished him.

Throughout the night, fans and fighters alike took to social media to make their disappointment of the match known. Cejudo was among the many who sent out a disparaging tweet, and even declared that he would have dominated the Mayweather that showed up on Sunday.

Hey 50-1 (Mayweather),” Cejudo wrote. “Imagine what an Olympic gold medalist would do to a guy who lost to a YouTuber. You wouldn’t make it past two rounds with me.”

Though Cejudo retired in May of last year, this is far from the first call-out he’s made since then. The former flyweight and bantamweight champion has set his eyes on a boxing match against Ryan Garcia, as well as offering to fight the champions of both divisions he once ruled.

However, it appears unlikely at best that Mayweather would be willing to take Cejudo up on his offer. He’s made it clear he’s done with professional bouts, and now appears unwilling to partake in any more exhibition contests. On top of that, Mayweather would likely make more money fighting pop culture figures like the Paul brothers than he would fighting Cejudo, and faces less of a risk in doing so.

If Cejudo ever does make a return to combat sports, it most likely won’t be for a while. ‘Triple C’ appears to have a full slate in front of him already, as he recently announced his upcoming nuptials and the pregnancy of his fiancé. Still, there a bound to be a number of intriguing match-ups ready for him whenever he decides to return.

Who do you think would win a boxing match between Henry Cejudo and Floyd Mayweather? Let us know!

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou was left dazed and confused after seeing what Logan Paul made for his fight against Floyd Mayweather this weekend.

Paul fought Mayweather in an exhibition bout in Miami on Sunday. The fight went the distance and no winner was officially declared. After the fight, the two fighters hugged in the ring while the crowd rained down boos on them.

Afterwards, it was reported that Logan Paul made somewhere in the range of 20 million dollars for this fight. This got a lot of people talking on social media about fighter pay in combat sports. One of the more prominent names that voiced their frustrations was Francis Ngannou. He took to Twitter to post the following.

Before the fight, Mayweather kept saying that this fight was a ‘legalised bank robbery’. (H/T Dailymail.co.uk)

“I worked extremely hard for years and years to get to a certain level. A level where we can start calling everything an event. I believe in working smarter, not harder. So if it’s something easy like [the Paul fight], a legalised bank robbery, I gotta do it. I have to do it.”

However, it does look like Mayweather will make around 100 million dollars for this fight after the pay-per view numbers come out. For comparison, Ngannou made around 1 million dollars for his last fight at UFC 260. During the post fight press conference, Mayweather admitted that this will probably be the last time he fights in the ring.

“I am going into the Hall of Fame, I have nothing to prove. If they are happy with grappling and holding for eight rounds, that’s good for them. I have been in this sport for so long, I was letting people see I can come out at the age of 44 and bring 30,000 to the stadium and bring good pay-per-view numbers.”

Do you agree with Francis Ngannou about the money Logan Paul made for the Floyd Mayweather fight?
