Newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping has been called out by a plethora of the top 185 pounders since winning the title in dramatic fashion at June 4’s UFC 199. Stepping up on short notice to replace an injured Chris Weidman, Bisping shocked the world and knocked out former champion Luke Rockhold in the very first round.

Bisping has been called out by both Rockhold and Weidman, but it doesn’t appear as if he’s too interested in either man. In a self-written blog on Champions.co, “The Count” actually called Weidman’s call out efforts ‘pathetic’:

“Of course the usual suspects are there. The most obvious ones are already lining up; Rockhold wants a rematch, Chris Weidman won’t stop going on. Weidman has actually started yapping a lot. I sort of feel sorry for the guy. He’s really started to become pretty embarrassing.

“He’s coming off a loss. You know, you don’t get to fight for a title when you’re coming off a loss. Yes, I know there has been the odd circumstance here and there where that’s happened, but for the most part, the rule of thumb is that a guy coming off a loss doesn’t fight for a belt. He’s just sounding so pathetic, he really is.”

The champion has also received a challenged from former long-time middleweight king Anderson “The Spider” Silva, a man the Brit toppled last February. Despite the bout being somewhat controversial, it appeared clear that Bisping had done enough to earn the decision which is why he doesn’t classify “The Spider” as a true contender either:

“Now, Anderson Silva has come out of the woodwork, like a dirty little cockroach. He came out and was saying that I should fight him again and this and that, how he beat me the first time. Well, anyone that knows fighting and watched that fight knows that I beat him. Why should I have to instantly redo that?”

Recently, it was reported that Bisping and ageing veteran Dan “Hendo” Henderson had verbally agreed to a rematch of their UFC 100 bout in which Henderson scored one of the most iconic knockouts in sport history. No official confirmation has come yet, but “The Count” has expressed interest in exacting his revenge.

In the end, Bisping is enjoying his time with the gold, and he sent out a harsh message to the 185-pound class:

“There’s only one person with the belt, and that is me. Until the announcement comes, you can all kiss my ass.”

Michael Bisping Calls Out GSP: ‘He’s A Little B***h’

With the Michael Bisping Sweepstakes in full swing to determine ‘The Count’s’ next opponent after he shockingly knocked out Luke Rockhold in the main event of June 4’s UFC 199, there is no bigger potential name on that list than longtime former welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.

Bisping has been angling for a rematch with 45-year-old legend Dan Henderson as his first title defense, but a much bigger prospect arose when “GSP” recently revealed that he would be willing to come out of retirement to fight Bisping now that he has the belt. Never one to miss out on an opportunity of such magnitude, “The Count” has already gotten the trash talk battle with St. Pierre started.

Speaking up during “The Countdown” podcast on SiriusXM (via MMA Fighting), the always brash and confident Brit had some extremely harsh criticism for St. Pierre, deeming him a “little b—-h” for leaving the sport behind amidst performance-enhancing drug concerns:

“I have nothing against Georges St-Pierre apart from the fact that he retired from the sport and was like, ‘No, I can’t do it because people are taking performance enhancing drugs.’ Well guess what, they were and they’re getting caught. But if you’re a man, if you’re a fighter, if you’re not a little bitch, you’ll still continue to take those chances and try to beat those people.

“You won’t run away to the shadows and disappear because you think you can’t compete. I’m not the coward. I’m not the coward that needs to takes steroids to compete with these guys. And I would have thought that Georges St-Pierre was man enough also to have the same attitude.”

The callout may seem a bit harsh, as it’s certainly hard to criticize an all-time great former champion who owns the record for most consecutive title defenses at his weight class, especially when you’re angling to face the No. 13-ranked contender who has auspiciously lost six of his last nine bouts.

Bisping has also backed it up by fighting – and losing to – several top fighters who have been linked to TRT and other PEDs throughout his 10-year UFC career. In fact, his ascent to a title shot was hampered by competitors associated with steroids in his losses to Henderson, Vitor Belfort, and Chael Sonnen, all which arguably stopped his run to a title shot.

And they may have kept him that way if not for Chris Weidman getting forced out of his UFC 199 rematch with Rockhold, opening the door for Bisping to shock the world in his only UFC title fight. Now the world is his oyster, so to say, and Bisping obviously is going to take full advantage. The MMA world is calling him out, and he’s basking in that rarified glow, with a potential fight against the arguable G.O.A.T. looming.

Bisping knows where the money is, and he understandably doesn’t think it lies with the elite-level talent populating the top of the middleweight ranks right now. “The Count” wants a big payday, so he not surprisingly called out St. Pierre for a fight after he finishes his long-standing feud with “Hendo”:

“Just for the record, I will call GSP out. I’ve got somebody in mind for my next fight and when that’s taken care of, if GSP’s man enough and he wants to step on the dotted line and fight, I will happily fight Georges St-Pierre.”

Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza is one of the most dominant 185-pound fighters on the planet, and he proved it by obliterating former light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort in the first round of their co-main event bout at UFC 198 this past May.

The No. 3-ranked middleweight could be next in line for a shot at the 185-pound crown, and in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the surging Brazilian stated that he believes he’s leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in the talented 185-pound pool:

“I can guarantee you that I’m physically better than anyone in the middleweight division today,” Souza said. “I’m training, running, jumping. I’m healthier and physically better than anyone in this division.

Whenever they book the fight, and I’m sure it’s going to be for the belt, I’ll start my camp. No one has earned it more than me.

I’m just waiting for the call from the UFC. I believe they will look at it in a meritocracy aspect, and it can’t be anyone but me. I’m waiting for the date.”

060416-UFC-Michael-Bisping-1.vadapt.664.high.51[1]Many of those who sit atop the UFC’s middleweight rankings have been clamoring for a shot at current champion Michael Bisping, underestimating the Englishman and viewing him as somewhat of a mediocre champion.

‘Jacare’, however, will not make the same mistake that former champion Luke Rockhold did, and will take Bisping very seriously if the two find themselves squaring off inside the Octagon with one another:

“I never underestimate anyone, and won’t underestimate Bisping,” he said. “I don’t know why everybody is calling him out when they won’t deserve to fight him.

They don’t know where they are going when they didn’t even earn it. Dan Henderson is way behind, there’s no possibility he fights Bisping. It’s disrespectful to both of us, the No. 1 contender and the champion.

I honestly don’t give a damn (about Henderson). I think it would be wonderful if he fought for a title before retiring, but not in front of me. You have to earn it. Beat a top of the division first.

He’s coming off many losses. If he wants to fight Bisping, he has to wait for his turn. Dan Henderson can’t fight for the title. It’s impossible. It won’t happen.”

With talk of former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre nearing an Octagon return, and possibly in the 185-pound division, there’s a strong probability that the Canadian phenom could get an immediate title shot upon his middleweight debut:

“St-Pierre never fought at middleweight. I don’t know what he’s doing here,” said the Brazilian. “To me, he’s a chicken. If I get him, I’ll break him in half.

He’s retired and wants to fight for the title in a division he never fought before? He always ran away from Anderson (Silva), ran from fighting at 185, and now he wants the belt?

Look, I’ll give him this chance, and it’s going to be easy for me,” he continued. “I would pass on fighting for the belt only to fight him if he moves up.

He’s a chicken. If he wants to move up, I would let Bisping for later, since I know I’m the next in line. If he wants to move up, I want him. I will break his neck.”

georges st-pierreWhile a title shot for Souza would certainly make sense, 185-pound champion Bisping has stated that ‘nobody cares’ about the Brazilian and that a fight with the No. 3-ranked middleweight just wouldn’t sell as much.

Souza responded to this by stating he has no shortage of fans and is ready to fight, selling some pay-per-views (PPVs) in the process:

“People have no idea what they are talking about. I don’t know where they got that from,” “Jacare” said. “I fought (Gegard) Mousasi in the United States and the whole crowd was in my favor.

I fought the most popular fighter in Brazil, who is also very popular around the world, and the whole crowd was rooting for me. Fans are supporting me on social media. Aside from that, I’m ready to fight and ready to sell pay-per-views.”

How does GSP stack up against the upper echelon of the 185-pound division? Do you think ‘Jacare’ is next in line for a shot at the gold?

Add another name to the rapidly growing list of fighters that want a bout against UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping after he shockingly ripped the belt from Luke Rockhold’s hands at UFC 199 on June 4.

That man is former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, and he has a legitimate beef with “The Count” from their controversial main event at UFC Fight Night 84 from London.

Silva famously bloodied and battered Bisping when he mistakenly pointed at his mouthpiece towards the end of the second round, but “The Spider” also went through long bouts of inactivity as Bisping pushed the pace with his boxing, actually dropping the formerly iron-chinned Silva. Silva thought he finished Bisping with a flying knee, but he jumped onto the cage wall to celebrate rather than actually finishing the hometown favorite as the time ticked down on the round.

Bisping recovered and took home a unanimous decision, which became his biggest win at the time as it propelled him to his now-infamous title fight against Rockhold. Now that Bisping has the belt, Silva took to Instagram to call out the champ, stating that he has never asked the UFC for a rematch before. “The Spider” also cited Bisping’s refusal of a rematch at UFC 198 from Brazil and would even fight him in Manchester:

“Well, I could give you million reasons to make the fight against Bisping happen, but the truth is that he is afraid. I’m not going to compare myself to others even mention someone else, but in my perspective I believe I have the right to a fight with him once again, because I have won London’s fight and a rematch was promised. However, as he was injured by me during the fight, he wouldn’t be prepared to fight too soon, then he was ready to replace someone, but not to face me in Brazil, right?

“You know I lived an unexpected situation having a surgery, but if it wasn’t happened I could fight in Brazil. So, I think it’s time to show that I’m serious, I’ve never asked for a rematch with no adversary, but I do want to have an opportunity of a fight with Bisping, I deserve that for everything I have achieve into the organization saving last time fights’ events even in upper categories, fighting injured , broke a leg. I have proved why I am the best in world in this sport and I humbly say that none of my adversaries who supposedly defeated me have achieved or will my actions into the organization. Undoubtedly, I believe this rematch will be the best step for UFC and Dana is aware of it, because numbers does tell and as we always have to stand by the group let it be from both sides. If I could help him to feel more confident and less afraid I would agree to fight him in his hometown, Manchester.”

He may be losing a step, but the always-entertaining Silva brings headlines wherever he goes. But he’s got one of the fullest slate of vocal title challengers a UFC champion has ever had to answer to, with Georges St. Pierre, Dan Henderson, Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Jacare Souza, and now Silva wanting the next crack at the brash Brit.

Based on the shape Bisping left the last fight, he might not want to take on the still-dangerous Muay Thai of “The Spider.”

In the weeks since Michael Bisping won the UFC middleweight title from Luke Rockhold in shocking fashion at June 4’s UFC 199, there’ve been an windfall of potential challengers looking to get the next shot at ‘The Count’s’ throne.

Those names include previously unforeseen competitors like Georges St. Pierre and Dan Henderson, but perhaps no legitimate contender has been more vocal about a title shot than former champion Chris Weidman, who was originally scheduled to meet Rockhold in a UFC 199 rematch before a serious neck injury postponed that fight for now.

Bisping believes that Weidman, who lost the belt to Rockhold at last year’s UFC 194, should rematch Rockhold and the winner should face him. Weidman unsurprisingly thinks ‘The count’ is simply running scared and looking for an easier fight against ‘Hendo’ or ‘GSP.’ After the East Coast native voiced that thought online, Bisping fired back today (Sun., June 26, 2016) with the notion that Weidman should win a fight, as he seems to be suspiciously injured quite a bit in the post-USADA era:

Weidman then responded that Bisping was trying awfully hard to trash his name while looking for to fight seemingly easier opponents:

And the former champ didn’t stop there, adding that he would stop picking on a guy that ‘didn’t want to fight’:

So it seems the trash talk battle between Bisping, Weidman, and the rest of the suddenly wide-open UFC middleweight division is in full swing without an end in sight. With Weidman hopefully returning from his neck issue in time to fight at November’s monstrous UFC 205 debut in his home state of New York, a match-up with the British champion obviously makes sense from a pure marketing and magnitude standpoint.

Now it’s up to the UFC to find out just who wins the ‘Bisping Sweepstakes’ and actually gets the next crack at the belt.

Still fresh to the throne, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is hot property right now. It was 10 years ago to this day that he joined the UFC, and is now a far cry from the unknown Englishman with a brash attitude. He is famous, successful, a wealthy man and has a huge target on his back after dispatching of Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. ‘The Count’ put away ‘Rocky’ with a rousing first round knockout, and now the challenges are flying in faster that we can report them.

At first it was Rockhold demanding an immediate rematch, then a rematch with Dan Henderson was being discussed for UFC 204, then welterweight legend Georges St-Pierre declared he wanted ‘The Count’ as his return fight. Later we had Chris Weidman engaging in heated beef with Bisping on Twitter, Jacare Souza demanded his props and Nick Diaz reportedly challenged him to fight at 178 pounds. It’s more of a question of who doesn’t want to fight the new middleweight boss at this stage.

BispingCelebratesRockholdKO

Years of talking smack but falling at the most crucial hurdles has landed Bisping in quite the unique position. Everybody knows who he is, he’s been around the game for an age and has fought some of the most well known names in MMA history. He’s made headlines on a constant basis with his outspoken style in the media, and is also a very good analyst for FOX on the side. The result of these factors and his ground shaking starching of Rockhold is a growing opinion that fighting Bisping is a red panty affair.

Quoting the phrase of the UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor leads us nicely to the topic of today’s article. Bisping had some very interesting opinions on ‘The Notorious’ in a recent interview that you may find very entertaining.
