Amongst the circulating rumors of a potential bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is brushing up on his boxing technique with former IBO welterweight champ Chris van Heerden.

McGregor visited the Box N’ Burn gym in Brentwood to step into the ring with the South African in order to test his skills inside the squared circle.

You can check out the sparring session below:

Gym owner and retired undefeated English boxer Tony Jeffries commented on McGregor’s extensive boxing training since arriving in Los Angeles:

“Conor has been here everyday since Friday. Twice a day sometimes.

“As for his skills — “I never thought [Conor] had a chance at beating Floyd until I saw him box today. Now I am on the fence.”

The Irishman has been linked to rumblings of a potential boxing bout with Mayweather, who took responsibility for starting the rumors. Mayweather stated that he will not come out of retirement unless it is for the big money fight against ‘Notorious.’.

Both men have done their fair share of promotion for the rumored ‘Boxing vs MMA’ super fight, as Mayweather has mentioned the Irishman in many recent interviews while McGregor continues to tease fans with a sudden interest in boxing on social media:

Before rumors of a bout with Mayweather began to circulate, McGregor stole headlines when he announced his apparent ‘retirement’ from MMA via Twitter after being removed from the colossal UFC 200 summer card:

UFC President Dana White removed ‘Notorious’ from his scheduled rematch with Nate Diaz, which was set to headline the card, because McGregor refused to attend a press conference to promote the event as he felt it would interfere with his training for the previously scheduled rematch.

Now the two parties look to settle the beef as a dinner meeting between McGregor, White, and the Fertittas is set to go down tonight to discuss the Irishman’s future.

In regards to a bout with Mayweather, nothing has been confirmed, however, Dana White did tell Mayweather to call him if he is indeed serious about a potential throwdown with the UFC star.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is making all kinds of noise in the mixed martial arts world right now. So much of a racket is ‘The Notorious’ creating, that h’s somewhat surpassed the level of media attention that any MMA star before him has ever experienced, and it’s not strictly limited to his beef with the UFC. The rumoured fight with boxing great Floyd Mayweather has been the main subject recently, but the reasons behind this unlikely pairing start with contract related issues for the Irishman.

After refusing to attend a press conference for his scheduled UFC 200 rematch with Nate Diaz, ‘The Notorious’ went in to a social media meltdown that was both very unexpected, but also possibly telling of his frustration towards the promotion. So perhaps these rumours of a fight with ‘Money’ are just to get under the UFC brass’ skin?

While both Mayweather and McGregor have confirmed negotiations are underway, and the Irish striker continues to tease everyone over social media, we really have no concrete evidence to suggest this fight will happen Outside of the fact McGregor is caught in a contract, although the right money could probably loosen the shackles, he would surely face an unbeatable challenge in facing such a decorated boxer in his own domain.

At least that’s what Bas Rutten and Donald Cerrone will tell you.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten was subject to heavy rumours regarding his own fighting return recently. He laughed them off and shot them down as he revealed he was actually scheduled for surgery on his sine soon.

During an episode of Inside MMA this week, alongside UFC welterweight Donald Cerrone, ‘El Guapo’ addresses the rumours of Mayweather vs. McGregor. Thanks for stopping by, you can check out the video on Youtube player courtesy of AXS TV Fights.

Conor McGregor continues to do his part of hyping up his rumored boxing match between the recently retired legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

‘Notorious’ set the MMA social media scene ablaze once more with another viral Tweet:

McGregor and Mayweather were rumored to be in negotiations for a potential ‘Boxing vs MMA’ bout, in which the Irishman would try his hand inside the squared circle against one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

Mayweather claimed responsibility for starting the rumors and has remained adamant on staying out of competition unless the big money bout with McGregor comes to fruition.

‘Money’ has also stated that he and his team have narrowed down a few potential venues to host the colossal boxing match.

McGregor has done his part in promoting the bout by showing off his abundance of boxing training, including a training session with boxing veteran Chris van Heerden:

‘Notorious’ also claimed that he owns boxing, and even Tweeted out a potential poster for his bout with Mayweather:

While McGregor is widely know for his stand-up game inside the Octagon, he will certainly be outside of his element if he steps inside the ring with Mayweather, who is widely considered one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time.

UFC President Dana White seems to be up for the bout, as he told Mayweather to call him if he was indeed serious about a possibly match-up with the Irish star.

Rumors of the bout continue to circulate across the headlines of combat sports news outlets nationwide throughout the weeks, however no form of confirmation has come from either McGregor or Mayweather as of this writing.

Floyd Mayweather is stealing headlines once again, and this time he’s using two of the UFC’s biggest stars to do it.

In a recent interview with ESNEWS via MMA Fighting, Mayweather talked about his potential bout with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and that possible dates have been targeted for the potential super-fight.

“I’m pretty sure we’re gonna have a master plan to make that fight happen. It hasn’t happened yet, but we locked down some dates.

Me and my team, me and Al Haymon, me and Leonard Ellerbe we locked down some dates in different countries, in different cities in the United States.

And you already know what my number is, 100 million [dollars]. That’s just the guarantee. We don’t talk about my number on the back end.”

A. McGregorWhile Mayweather currently holds a professional boxing record of 49-0, and has trademarked ‘TBE 50’ (The Best Ever 50) and ‘TMT 50’ (The Money Team 50), ‘Money’ claims he will not come out of retirement unless it’s to fight McGregor:

“If I do fight, it’s only against Conor McGregor. That’s gonna be my only fight and not against nobody else because this matchup is just so intriguing.

You have a fighter against an MMA fighter, one of the best MMA fighters to do combat and stand up and do it. He’s a strong fighter and when I look at him fight he’s a little faster than I thought he was so if the fight happens I can’t overlook the guy.

I’m pretty sure – if we make the fight happen – I’m pretty sure he’s gonna push me to the limit.”

Mayweather recently claimed responsibility for starting the rampant rumors on a potential boxing bout between the Irishman and himself. ‘Money’ also claimed that if the bout came to fruition he wouldn’t take McGregor lightly as he respects the Irishman’s stand-up game.

Aside from the potential super fight, 60 pounds above McGregor sits the pound-for-pound king of MMA, Jon Jones, who Mayweather expressed interest in potentially having be a part of TMT.

“Jon Jones is with the MMA but we still gotta communicate and put some things together, me and him,” he said. “We’d love [Jones] to be a part of TMT. We steady growing. And it’s not just about us making money it’s about the talent winning.”

Jones is currently set to headline this summer’s blockbuster UFC 200 card when he looks to unify his interim light heavyweight title versus current 205-pound champ Daniel Cormier.

McGregor, on the other hand, was originally set to the main event the July card in a rematch against Nate Diaz, but was removed from the card by the UFC after the Irishman refused to attend media obligations in Las Vegas while training in Iceland.

‘Notorious’ and UFC brass are said to be having dinner later this week to discuss the Irishman’s next Octagon appearance.

The circus act that is Conor McGregor continues to roll on. In a recent interview with Showtime’s Steve Farhood, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather sat down to discuss a possible comeback to the ring, and addressed the rumors that it could possibly be against UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

“It’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know, as of right now. As of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely.

We’re the A-side, of course. It has to be a boxing match, because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand-up guy. So I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me.

We really don’t know as of right now, but there’s been a lot of talk, and hopefully we can make the fight happen.”

Mayweather also stated that McGregor is ‘no pushover’ and can’t take the Irishman lightly:
“He’s no pushover. One thing about Conor McGregor, he’s no pushover. He fell short in his last bout, but a true champion can always bounce back, so that’s a guy I can’t overlook.”

‘Money’ also claims that financial negotiations have yet to be made, however, his number will always remain the same:

“We haven’t picked a venue, we haven’t talked about money yet. I’m gonna get $100 million, of course. Every time I go out, that’s my number. Every time I go out and get inside that squared circle, it’s $100 million or better.”

While Mayweather sits back counting his money at home, WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Glolovkin (GGG) is making a name for himself, as the devastating knockout artist has amassed an undefeated boxing record of 35-0.

When asked why he isn’t considering coming out of retirement to face the Kazakhstani star, Floyd remained adamant on his intentions to step into the ring against McGregor.

“I just look at the situation like this: Sugar Ray Leonard, he jumped up in weight. Roberto Duran jumped up in weight, Oscar De La Hoya jumped up in weight, Floyd Mayweather jumped up in weight, Pernell Whitaker jumped up in weight, Roy Jones jumped up in weight. So many legendary champions jumped up in weight. I jumped up in weight. When is GGG gonna jump up in weight?

“I proved myself over and over again. I’m not ducking or dodging GGG. I’m a businessman. My focus right now, if I was to get inside a ring and compete, only guy I’m thinking about right now, business-wise, is Conor McGregor.”

All in all ‘Money’ is split on the decision to come back for another fight inside the ring. He’s also confident that he and McGregor can make the perennial super-fight a possibility:

“50-50. 50-50. I’m pretty sure — we have to find a venue! We haven’t spoken on certain terms. I’m my boss on my end. I don’t know what Conor McGregor can do, but I’m pretty sure we can make it happen. If the fans demand the fight, we can make it happen.”

While no official announcement has yet been made on the possible bout between Mayweather and McGregor, the Irishmen is set to have dinner with UFC brass later next week to begin discussions on his next bout.

Dana White: “No Way In Hell” McGregor vs. Mayweather Happens

Not surprisingly, the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rumors continue to be fed by media and fan speculation. One person not feeding the rumors, however, is UFC President Dana White. Not surprisingly, the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rumors continue to be fed by media and fan speculation. One person not feeding the rumors, however, is UFC President Dana White.

In a recent interview on UFC Tonight, White discussed the unlikeliness of a bout between ‘Money’ and the ‘Notorious’ Irishman:

“There’s no reality there either,” White said “Listen, if you look at Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio, (they) were in the same sport and they couldn’t make that fight. You think you’re going to make Floyd and Conor?

“There’s no way in hell.”

Speculation about a possible bout between the two has run rampant over the past week, as Mayweather claimed responsibility for starting the rumors about a possible boxing match with McGregor. McGregor also tweeted a poster for the rumored super-fight on his Twitter page:Ch7YNN4XIAE99S-

While a bout against McGregor is unlikely, Mayweather is certainly expected to step into the ring one last time as he has trademarked ‘TMT 50’ (The Money Team 50) as well as ‘TBE 50’ (The Best Ever 50).

McGregor, on the other hand, is looking to negotiate terms with the UFC for his return, as the two are said to be having dinner together later next week according to White. The Irishman was involved in a bumping of heads with UFC officials after refusing to attend a press conference for his scheduled bout with Nate Diaz at UFC 200, thus leading to his removal from the colossal summer card.

As of now, the ‘MMA vs Boxing’ bout between McGregor and Mayweather will have to wait, but it’s till going to be quite interesting to see how much longer these rumors are fueled in the coming weeks.
