Colby Covington Pokes Fun At Drake For Losing Money Betting On Jorge Masvidal

Colby Covington mocked the rap/pop superstar Drake for betting a quarter of a million dollars on Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal at UFC 272.

Drake is known for being a complete mush when it comes to sports betting. He is notorious for siding with the losing squad, and the “Drake curse” became a real thing after he backed multiple losers in a row.

Masvidal isn’t the first UFC fighter that he has “jinxed”. Drake also backed Conor McGregor at UFC 229 when he fought against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight championship. Drake walked out with Conor McGregor sporting the Irish flag at the weigh-in of that fight.

Colby Covington had a laugh at Drake’s expense last night at the post-fight press conference

Covington made easy work of Masvidal at UFC 272, as he won by unanimous decision while barely losing a round. Masvidal only had a few instances where he held the upper hand, but could never capitalize. Those instances came few and far between as well. Covington’s pace and relentlessness was too much for Masvidal in the end.

“Let’s talk about all the money Drake lost tonight,” Covington said. “He needs to go back to selling those s—ty albums to make back the money. He should have went to America’s Pick of the Week by my bookie. I tried to give the people the pick of the week. I was America’s champ and I was America’s pick of the week. Drake, you suck at sports betting. Go back to your s—ty little albums and rapping.” (H/T MMAMania)

Masvidal wants to treat Drake to dinner when he is in Miami after losing the match and losing Drake all that money as well.

Covington was a heavy favorite in the match and any betting man would have advised against putting that amount of money on Masvidal, who has struggled against wrestlers mostly in his career (with the exception of Ben Askren). It’s safe to say Drake was upset after Masvidal lost.

Jake Paul Suggests ‘Weak Chins’ Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor Fight Next

Jake PaulUndefeated, outspoken professional boxer, Jake Paul has suggested a matchup between former two-time welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal, and former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor next – claiming the pair both possess “weak chins”. Jake Paul

Undefeated, outspoken professional boxer, Jake Paul has suggested a matchup between former two-time welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal, and former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor next – claiming the pair both possess “weak chins”.

Paul, who boasts an undefeated 5-0 professional record, most recently featured against former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley back in December in Florida – landing a stunning one-punch knockout in the sixth round of their rematch.

The outspoken Ohio native had previously landed a close split decision win over the former UFC champion, adding to a notable pair of knockout successes against NBA alum, Nate Robinson, and former ONE Championship and Bellator gold holder, Ben Askren.

Jake Paul has recently called for a boxing clash against reigning welterweight champion, Canelo Alvarez

Reflecting on UFC 272 last night, Paul suggested main event feature, Masvidal should draw former two-weight Octagon champion, McGregor, next – off the back of a loss to former teammate, Colby Covington over the course of five rounds.

“We already know Conor (McGregor) can’t finish (Nate) Diaz,” Jake Paul tweeted. “Right fight to make is (Jorge) Masvidoll (sic) vs. Macgregor (sic). 50/50 fight, ends in KO. Both can throw and both have weak chins.”

Appearing to be on somewhat of a collision course before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic back in January 2020, McGregor welcomed a welterweight matchup against Masvidal following a one-sided 40-second knockout win over common-foe, Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in his return to the promotion.

While a bout has yet to ever materialize, Paul has also called out both Masvidal and McGregor since his victory over Woodley – attempting to entice the duo to feature against him in professional boxing matches.

For McGregor, the 33-year-old’s most recent outing came back in July of last year in the main event of UFC 264 – dropping a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier after he suffered a fractured left tibia toward the end of the opening frame.

UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan has claimed that he wishes former promotion heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez beat an accused child molester to death following an alleged shooting earlier this week, rather than brandishing a weapon.

Velasquez, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday this week, was charged with attempted, premeditated murder on Wednesday after he is alleged to have shot in the direction of 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte who had recently been accused of molesting a close relative of Velasquez, “100 times”.

Set to be arraigned tomorrow morning in Santa Clara, Velasquez, who is currently being held without bail, has received an outpouring of support from numerous figures in the professional mixed martial arts world, including teammates at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California, former UFC champions, and other prominent figures in the sport.

Cain Velasquez has been charged with attempted, premeditated murder along with a slew of other charges

UFC middleweight contender, Derek Brunson also recently donated a sum of $10,000 to help tackle Velasquez’s legal fees, and the aforenoted, Rogan recently gave his thoughts on the situation with UFC Hall of Famer, Michael Bisping – where he admitted that he wished Velasquez chose to beat Goularte to death, rather than shooting at the accused child molester.

“I mean, my only wish is that he (Cain Velasquez) did it with his hands,” Joe Rogan said of the incident during his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “My only wish is that he just ran the car off the road, pulled that guy out of the f*cking car, and beat him to death. F*ck you.”

“That is a sickness,” Joe Rogan said of child molestation. “There’s like a certain sickness that people have – that human beings have, as sicknesses of the mind. But that one, the molesting – a f*cking baby? … The molesting children is the sickest of all of those sicknesses.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Dustin Poirier Responds To ‘Bombaclat’ Colby Covington Callout After UFC 272

Dustin PoirierFormer interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier has urged former interim welterweight titleholder, and past American Top Team training partner, Colby Covington to switch focus and fight fellow welterweights, after the latter issued another callout to Poirier following UFC 272. Dustin Poirier

Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier has urged former interim welterweight titleholder, and past American Top Team training partner, Colby Covington to switch focus and fight fellow welterweights, after the latter issued another callout to Poirier following UFC 272.

Poirier, who last featured at UFC 269 back in December, has been the subject of multiple callouts from former teammate, Covington following his undisputed lightweight title challenge loss to Charles Oliveira, as the Lafayette native continues to flirt with a welterweight division climb.

Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington previously trained together at American Top Team

For Covington, the #1 ranked contender at the welterweight limit, headlined UFC 272 last night at the T-Mobile Arena, lodging a rather one-sided unanimous decision win over Poirier’s teammate, former two-time welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal over the course of five rounds.

Immediately following the victory, Covington, who has twice lost to current welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman, issued another venomous callout to Poirier, however, the Louisianan has stressed recently that he would never fight Covington with financial implications.

“I’ll never fight Colby (Covington) in an Octagon where there’s finances on the line,” Dustin Poirier said. “If I fight Colby, we’re both going to jail – I’m going to jail. You will never see me fight Colby Covington in the UFC.”

Last night, Covington issued another plea to Poirier to secure a fight against him next, once again targeting the former interim lightweight champion’s wife, and daughter.

In response, Poirier, who is currently vacationing in Jamaica, tweeted, “Bombaclat”, before urging Covington to still to the welterweight limit and fight contenders in his weight class instead.

“Maybez (sic) fight a welterweight contender?” Dustin Poirier tweeted.

During his post-fight press conference, Covington once more fired barbs at Poirier, questioning why he has not fought him already if he claimed a fight was “on-site” if they met.

“That fight (with Dustin Poirier) needs to happen,” Colby Covington said. “He’s talked too reckless in the media, he’s said, ‘It’s on-site” and the last time he was talking to you clickbait merchants he was saying, ‘Oh, I’m not gonna fight Colby in the Octagon where there’s finances on the line, I’m gonna fight him in the streets and we’re both gonna go to jail’. It’s funny, it’s very ironic because he talks about being a family guy, a good guy, but he wants to fight me in the streets and potentially go away from his family. Dustin Poirier has all these stipulations to fight me, I just have one stipulation – my one stipulation is he lets the world watch and enjoy themselves.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Nate Diaz Is “Very Likely” To Sign Another Contract With The UFC

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz may be signing another contract with the UFC sooner rather than later according to Dana White.

Diaz’s next fight in the UFC would be his last on his current contract with the organization. In the UFC 272 post-fight press conference, Dana White was confronted with the question of Nate Diaz’s future inside the UFC. Recently, Diaz brought up the possibility of a retirement fight, but when White was asked how likely it would be that Diaz would be signed to a new contract. White had a quick answer for that by just saying, “Very likely“.

Diaz had been rumored recently to fight many different fighters. White had recently brought up the possibility of the McGregor trilogy, to which Diaz had a snarky remark too. He claimed that ‘The Notorious’ had to get a few wins before he fought him, even though McGregor has the most recent win of the two fighters. White went on to say it would be a shame if we never saw the trilogy take place.

Nate Diaz has repeatedly brought up the possibility of a fight against Dustin Poirier, but nothing solid has come to fruition.

It seems as if Poirier has had enough with the back and forth between Diaz, as he had some choice words after hearing that Diaz would be getting a new contract soon.

The two have been at odds for months and all the talking has amount to nothing but leaving fans upset. Diaz last fought Leon Edwards after being on a 19 month hiatus prior to the fight in June of 2021. the long layoffs have seem to cause more harm to Diaz’s career, as he has to shake off the octagon rust more times than not. Diaz has not had a win inside the octagon since he beat Anthony Pettis at UFC 241.

Do you want to see Nate Diaz inside the octagon again? Who do you want to see Diaz matched up against?
