When it was announced that Brock Lesnar had failed a drug test surrounding his UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) co-main event bout with Mark Hunt, a bout in which he competed in and won via unanimous decision, “The Super Samoan” went on an epic tirade blasting not only Lesnar, but the UFC as well.

Shortly after the news was announced, Lesnar was given a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). “The Beast” was scheduled to finally appear in front of the commission earlier this week, but he was granted extra time. He has also hired a lawyer, Howard Jacobs, to prepare his defense, and apparently Jacobs needs ‘more time’.

To no surprise, Hunt isn’t too pleased with the extra time given to Lesnar, and the former K-1 champion took to his official Twitter account to once again rip into the former heavyweight champion:

It has not yet been made clear when Lesnar will in fact meet with the commission, but what’s your take on the situation? Do you agree with Hunt, or has he blown things out of proportion?

ESPN’s Brett Okamota detailed the hearing via his official Twitter account:

After Diaz got up and left the press conference with his team, the two sides exchanged words before bottles and cans began to fly across the room. The Stockton native has yet to receive a punishment from the commission.

An interesting thing to note is that McGregor was present at the hearing via phone after a rumor surfaced earlier today that he had been ‘knocked out cold’ during a sparring session leading up to his November 12, 2016 lightweight title fight with Eddie Alvarez.

Nate Diaz, perhaps in a joking manner, recently said that he was ‘obsessed’ with fighting featherweight champion Conor McGregor a third time. Now, however, it appears as if the Stockton native has changed his tune. Recently speaking with former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, Diaz said that he’s in ‘no hurry’ to book a third bout, also saying that he feels as if he beat the “Notorious” one twice:

“It’s whatever to me. I won the fight. I’m not jumping for joy for round three,” Diaz said. “I think I beat him twice and it’s 2-0, as far as I’m concerned. If they’re gonna want to do it down the road, I don’t know. I’m not in a hurry. It’s all good.”

The two met for a first time back at UFC 196 in March in a bout that Diaz accepted on just over a week’s notice. Despite the short notice, however, the former lightweight title challenger submitted the Irishman in the second round, setting up a rematch for the ages that took place at August 20’s UFC 202 from Las Vegas, Nevada. At UFC 202, the two rivals slugged it out for five rounds in an instant classic, but it was McGregor who walked away with a majority decision victory.

With his future currently unclear, Diaz has said that he’s only interested in returning for a trilogy bout with McGregor, although he did also add that he’d follow the guidance of his older brother Nick, who recently served out an 18-month suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC):

“Nick is my fearless leader so I do whatever Nick tells me to do. But yeah, I don’t know what they’re doing with him right now, I don’t know what they’re doing with Nick right now,” Nate said. “I’m just over here enjoying the rest of this summer.”

“Nick’s the leader. If Nick tells me to go fight Joe Blow, I’ll fight Joe Blow. I’m a soldier man and that’s the general.”

After nearly five years away from the sport, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his triumphant return to fighting in the co-main event of UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) in Las Vegas, scoring a dominant decision victory over legendary slugger Mark Hunt. Lesnar looked better than ever in his return, although it may have been too good to be true, as “The Beast” was notified by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) of a potential anti-doping violation shortly after the fight.

Little details regarding the situation have been released since, although it has been made clear that Lesnar tested positive on two different occasions for what is thought to be an anti-estrogen agent. Today (August 23, 2016), however, Lesnar was given a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) which serves as the first step in his adjudication process according to MMAFighting.com. The former champion will likely take part in a formal hearing in front of the commission at a later date.

“The Beast”, although recently leaving the door open for a potential Octagon return, is potentially facing a two-year suspension from both USADA and the NSAC, as well as possible fines from the commission. Lesnar, who owns a 6-3 professional mixed martial arts record, would likely end his fighting career if he receives a two-year suspension given the fact that he is currently 39 years of age.

It appears as if Nate Diaz will once again have to fight Conor McGregor without his brother, former WEC and former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz, in his corner. When Nate and McGregor first did battle back at March 5’s UFC 196, Nick, the elder of the two, was serving out an 18-month suspension handed to him by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after he tested positive for Marijuana metabolites surrounding his January 2015 bout with Anderson Silva.

That suspension ended earlier this month on August 1, 2016 which should allow Nick to corner Nate at this weekend’s (August 20, 2016) UFC 202 in Las Vegas, but Nate said on last night’s (August 17, 2016) edition of UFC Tonight that there were still some ‘technical difficulties’ regarding Nick’s ability to corner him.

According to a report from FOX Sports, Nick is prohibited from cornering Nate due to the fact that he’s actually still suspended. Apparently, the Stockton native failed to pay the fine that was included with his suspension:

“As of this date Nick Diaz is not permitted to work the corner of his brother Nate because he is still suspended,” NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett said.

“I contacted the UFC two-to-three weeks ago regarding Nevada Administrative Code 467 in an effort to clarify and confirm the conditions that would allow Nick to work Nate’s corner. The Nevada State Athletic Commission made a concerted effort to keep everyone involved in the fight regarding our Codes as we thought Nate would request his brother to work his corner. Additionally, we provided them information as to who to contact at the Attorney General’s Office in an effort for Nick to be in compliance with his written settlement/agreement. I was informed by the UFC they contacted Nick and/or his manager and advised them what our regulations require to accommodate the possible request.”

Bennet also confirmed that until Diaz pays his balance, he will remain suspended:

“Although the term of Mr. Diaz’s suspension expired on August 1, 2016, he remains on suspension pursuant to term 1.03 of his Settlement Agreement because he has failed to either pay his fine in full (his balance is $75,000) or enter into an approved payment plan,” Bennett said.

“As such, the prohibitions of NAC 467.895 apply to Mr. Diaz at this time.”

Not only is Nick not allowed to corner Nate, but he’s also not allowed to be in Nate’s locker room prior to the fight, nor is he allowed to sit in the first six rows surrounding the Octagon meaning that he will have no communication with his younger brother during arguably the biggest fight of the year.

What do you make of this situation?

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his triumphant return to fighting last month at July 9’s UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada. After nearly five years away from the sport, Lesnar came in and essentially dominated a top 10 heavyweight in Mark Hunt, although the victory has since been plagued after Lesnar was notified by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) of a potential anti-doping violation regarding two of his drug tests.

Little has been made clear regarding the details of the situation, but according to a report from MMAJunkie, “The Beast” is set to go before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on August 23, 2016 in Las Vegas where a temporary suspension request will be heard.

Lesnar wasn’t the only big name to be notified of a potential anti-doping violation regarding UFC 200, as former light heavyweight champion and former pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones was also popped by USADA. Jones, unlike Lesnar, was unable to compete at the landmark event, as he was pulled from his scheduled main event rematch with reigning 205-pound titleholder Daniel Cormier just days before the fight was slated to take place. It appears as if Jones’ case has been delayed. Both Lesnar and Jones tested positive for estrogen blockers.

Do you see either man receiving a significant punishment?
