Jon Jones blasts Francis Ngannou UFC PFL he will always be a p*ssy

Jon Jones has continued his tirade against former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou amid the Cameroonian’s move to the PFL (Professional Fighters League) earlier this week, claiming that the latter “will always be a p*ssy” after they failed to share the Octagon with each other.

Jones, the current undisputed heavyweight champion, clinched the promotion’s vacant crown back in March at UFC 285 against common-foe, former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane, submitting the Frenchman with a dominant opening round guillotine choke in his first outing in over three years.

Ngannou, on the other hand, confirmed his ground-breaking move to the PFL earlier this week, having held a verbal agreement with the Peter Murray-led organization for some time.

Sharing a slew of back-and-forth tweets with each other in the wake of Ngannou’s move to the promotion, Jon Jones hit out at the Batié native for declaring himself the best heavyweight in the world, all while after leaving the UFC in January of this year.

In response, Jones was offered a route to a fight with Ngannou – with the latter urging him to cross the street and join up with him at the PFL in order to make a fight.

And in an impromptu dig at Ngannou again, Jones gatecrashed an interview between his training partner, Maurice Greene, and reporter, Alex Behunin – to cast barbs toward the former heavyweight champion.

“Francis (Ngannou) is a p*ssy,” Jon Jones said. “And (he’s) always gone be a p*ssy. With all that muscle. With all that muscle.”

Expected to make his own return later this year, Jones has been earmarked to retire from mixed martial arts competition following an expected Madison Square Garden return against former two-time champion, Stipe Miocic in November in the main event of UFC 295.

Francis Ngannou ONE Championship tried signing him with Nelson Mandela comparisons

Francis Ngannou has revealed that ONE Championship CEO, Chatri Sityodtong had attempted to sway his signature from a verbal agreement with the PFL (Professional Fighters League) – claiming the promotion could make him as influential as the late anti-apartheid activist, Nelson Mandela.

Ngannou, a former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion up and until his departure from the promotion back in January of this year, was the subject of main headlines across the globe this week, after his ground-breaking move to the above-mentioned, PFL was confirmed.

Francis Ngannou is expected to make his PFL debut next year

However, the Cameroon knockout artist, who will ride an impressive six-fight winning spree into his expected mixed martial arts return next year, held crunch talks with Singapore-based promotion, ONE Championship before his move to the PFL.

Revealing some details of that lengthy sit-down with the above-mentioned, Sityodtong in Los Angeles earlier this month, Francis Ngannou claimed that the promotional CEO had just put on a performance for him – in regards to the organization’s statistics and prowess

“I think Chatri (Sityodtong) was just performing,” Francis Ngannou told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I told him and Matt Hume that I got the best offer from PFl and I don’t think, I’m not going to do any negotiation with you guys. That was like back, six weeks before that. And he was like, ‘Oh, I can fly you to Singapore. I can fly to Cameroon. I got this.’ He was all in. I was like, this is too much. I don’t know how to handle this.”

“How are you going to fly to Cameroon? What for? I just told the guy the situation and then he kept pushing. Then I sent it to my team. ‘I can’t handle this pressure from Chatri.’ Then he kept pushing, kept pushing. …So I have to see, for respect. We had a talk, I respect the guy, Matter of fact, I love Chatri. Now I even question if that story is true. But I used to love that story.”

And furthermore, during the discussion, Ngannou claims how Sityodtong tried to convince him that the organization could make the Batié native as well-known and influential as former South African president, Mandela.

“I have to drink three or four cups of coffee, listening to all those statistics, how ONE FC is in Asia, Asia is a 4.6 billion people [population], they’re going to do this, they showed me how ONE FC is going to explode, I’m going to be like Nelson Mandela,” Francis Ngannou continued. Brok, it was a hell of a performance. By the way, I applaud Chatri for his performance.”

Anthony Joshua unmoved by gimmick fight with PFL signing Francis Ngannou dangerous

Matchroom Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn has claimed that while former boxing world champion, Anthony Joshua is receptive to the idea of a future fight with former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, he claims the former is currently unmoved by the matchup – one which he describes as “gimmicky”

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, made big splashes this week as the confirmation of his signature with the PFL (Professional Fighters League) was announced officially – ahead of a return to professional mixed martial arts sometime next year.

Agreeing terms with the Peter Murray-led organization, Ngannou, who is expected to fight in professional boxing first this year before his comeback to active competition in mixed martial arts, revealed that he believed cross-over fights with former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, and current gold holder, Tyson Fury were the two most likely debut opponents for him.

Anthony Joshua remains unfocused on potential Francis Ngannou clash

Linked with a bout against former Olympian, Joshua – who recently rebounded to winning-ways in a victory over Jermaine Franklin, Ngannou’s quest for a boxing debut may not come immediately through the Watford native, however.

“I think the Francis Ngannou fight happens in the Middle East,” Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn told The Mac Life. “It’s a kind of – not freak shot, because Francis can box as well, but the big money comes there from the Middle East. And in August, it’s not really the time to do it [because of weather-], mainly.”

“I spoke to A.J. (Anthony Joshua) about the fight [with Francis Ngannou],” Eddie Hearn explained. “He likes it and he gets it, but he’s very focused on his boxing career at the moment. And he doesn’t want to derail that to do something a little bit gimmicky. Even thought it is dangerous, he wants to prepare for Deontay Wilder, and I think he doesn’t feel that Ngannou would prepare him for Deontay Wilder.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

Francis Ngannou will always regret not stepping inside the Octagon with current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

After months of speculation and negotiations, Ngannou revealed on Tuesday that he had signed on the dotted line with the Professional Fighters League in a groundbreaking deal that will see him act as the chairman for the promotion’s PFL Africa expansion. In addition to a truckload of money, ‘The Predator’ will also be part of the PFL’s Fighter Advisory Board. Despite everything he’s earned, Ngannou still has one lingering regret.

Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones were thought to be one of the biggest potential fights in mixed martial arts history. The UFC worked tirelessly for more than a year to make the matchup happen, but it sadly never came to fruition. With Francis Ngannou now firmly parked across the street, it appears as though the dream match may never take place.

“I will always have a regret of not fighting Jon Jones,” Ngannou said on ESPN’s DC & RC. “I think you know, being in the sport, being in this position, what you want to do is to test yourself against somebody like Jon Jones, who stands as a GOAT of the sport.”

Francis Ngannou Hopeful That He Can Still One Day Face Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou is not giving up hope, suggesting that the bout may be able to happen as part of a cross-promotional event between the PFL and the UFC, though we wouldn’t suggest getting your hopes up.

“Still this day, I’m like, if ever there’s an opportunity to fight Jon Jones, we will do it,” Ngannou continued. “But I don’t know how. Maybe a cross-promotion? I don’t know. But Jon Jones is somebody that anyone that’s looking to make a legacy in this sport would like to fight.

“It’s like back in the day, everybody has to fight – when you’re the guy, it’s good to fight Fedor because he was out there doing his thing, and he was the guy and you couldn’t argue that. I think it’s the same thing right now. And I think it goes both ways, even for Jon Jones. Even for Jon Jones, this was a good fight to make a statement” (h/t MMA Junkie).

The Predator’ confirmed that his first appearance inside the Smart Cage won’t occur until 2024, but he aims to make his professional boxing debut in 2023 with names like Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder still in the mix.

On the other side of the street, Jon Jones will gear up for a clash with general consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic later this year. The duo initially set their sights on a showdown as part of the promotion’s International Fight Week in July, but recent reports suggest a November meeting at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, is the goal.

Revealing details of his sitdown with Sityodtong in Los Angeles, Ngannou claimed he felt pressured by the promotional leader.

“I think Chatri (Sityodtong) was just performing,” Francis Ngannou told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I told him and Matt Hume that I got the best offer from PFl and I don’t think, I’m not going to do any negotiation with you guys. Francis Ngannou

Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou traded barbs on social media shortly after news broke that ‘The Predator’ had signed with the Professional Fighters League.

After months of speculation and negotiations with every major combat sports promotion in the world, Francis Ngannou revealed that he has signed with the PFL. Expected to make his Smart Cage debut in 2024, the former UFC heavyweight champion is already taking it on the chin from some of his former co-workers, specifically Jon Jones. The reigning heavyweight titleholder took a clear dig at Ngannou on Twitter shortly after news of his signing broke the internet.

Calling yourself the baddest man on the planet from across the street, who does that? Lol,” Jones tweeted.

It didn’t take long for Francis Ngannou to snap back on social media, suggesting that if ‘Bones’ wants to prove himself, he should simply cross the street.

Determined to have the final word, Jon Jones responded to a fan’s comment, suggesting that Ngannou is doing a lot more talking now that he’s safely signed to a rival promotion.

“You notice that! Wasn’t calling himself the baddest when he was still a free agent. He signed safely behind a new organization, and now suddenly the baddest thing walking. Like we all haven’t seen him quitting inside that cage before.”

What’s Next For Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones If It’s Not Each Other?

While fans continue to hold out hope for a potential clash between the two heavyweight superstars, Francis Ngannou’s announcement on Tuesday may have effectively put out what was left of that once-burning fire. During his appearance on a special Tuesday episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Predator’ revealed that his PFL debut will come in 2024. Before then, Ngannou plans on making his professional boxing debut before 2023 comes to a close. He suggested that high-profile matchups against Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder are still possible, but he may opt to take a tune-up fight before throwing hands with one of the heavyweight division’s top dogs.

As for Jon Jones, the newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion is still waiting for his next assignment. After making quick work of top heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, ‘Bones’ turned his attention to general consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic. Initially targeting a July clash during the promotion’s annual International Fight Week festivities, the bout now appears to be slated for the UFC’s return to Madison Square Garden in November.

With Francis Ngannou signing on the dotted line with the PFL, a potential meeting with Jon Jones is nothing more than a fantasy for the time being, but as we’ve come to learn, anything can happen in MMA.
