Ex-UFC heavyweight standout Todd Duffee would love to be a part of the Professional Fighter’s League, especially if it means scoring an opportunity to welcome Francis Ngannou back to MMA.

With ‘The Predator’ expected to make his debut inside the PFL Smart Cage in 2024, heavyweights from far and wide are throwing their names into the hat of potential opponents for the former UFC heavyweight champion. Duffee, who currently calls the BKFC home, would love the opportunity to be Ngannou’s first opponent.

“Oh, yeah, I’d love to, and I think they would give me that opportunity, too,” Duffee told MMA Junkie Radio when asked about a potential fight against Ngannou. “I would love to do that. It’s a fun, exciting fight.

“I do think they have a lot of sexy matchups, but I love heavyweight fights, so maybe I see it differently. Both guys that fought last weekend would be amazing matchups for him. I think that in general, PFL has a good roster of heavyweights I would love to see Francis fight. But yeah, please sign me up for that fight. Everybody wants that fight” (h/t MMA Junkie).

Whether or Not He Gets Ngannou, Todd Duffee Would Love to Compete for the PFL

Duffee was scheduled for a return to action at BKFC 56 on Saturday night, but his scheduled opponent, Ben Rothwell, was forced to withdraw from the contest due to illness. The bout has since been rescheduled for February.

Even if he doesn’t win the Francis Ngannou lottery, Duffee would still take advantage of the opportunity to be a part of the PFL.

“The tournament is the best because you know it doesn’t matter if you’re hurt and stuff like that, even that gets removed from your head a lot easier,” Duffee said. “I think tournaments are the coolest thing, for sure. If you can fight month after month, it’s the most beautiful thing in a guys’ career.”

Duffee went 3-2 under the UFC banner with one no-contest. He earned victories over Tim Hague, Phil De Fries, and Anthony Hamilton before exiting the promotion following a loss against former titleholder Frank Mir.

Francis Ngannou confirms plans for mixed rules fight with Deontay Wilder the conversation is true

Off the back of a professional boxing debut back in October, former undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou claims “conversations” regarding a potential mixed-rules fight with former WBC heavyweight boxing world champion, Deontay Wilder are most definitely true, amid links to a bout of some form with the Tuscaloosa striker.

Ngannou, a former undisputed heavyweight champion under the banner of the UFC, made a professional boxing debut back in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, suffering a contentious and controversial split decision loss to incumbent WBC heavyweight kingpin and common-foe, Tyson Fury.

As for Wilder, the former undisputed WBC titleholder has been sidelined since stopping Finnish heavyweight, Robert Helenius with a thunderous opening round knockout back in October of last year in a headlining clash in Brooklyn.

Slated to return to the squared circle later this month, the Alabama native co-headlines another high-profile card in Saudi Arabia, taking on former world championship challenger, Joseph Parker beneath a headliner featuring both Anthony Joshua, and Otto Wallin.

Francis Ngannou confirms plans to fight Deontay Wilder

And linked with a slew of potential opponents in a potential sophomore outing in professional boxing, Cameroonian knockout ace, Ngannou appeared to veto a fight with the veteran, Derek Chisora, however, claimed a bout of some sort with Wilder could be on the horizon.

“I prefer to fight only the top fighters,” Francis Ngannou told The Last Stand podcast. “Why did I fight Tyson Fury? Because he is the top of the game, I wanted to get in there at the top and I want the best. I want the big fights, the big show. I want everything big. At the end of the day, it is a sport, we do what we have to do.”

“The conversation of a mixed rules fight with Deontay Wilder is true, because even before this fight [against Tyson Fury], we have been having discussions,” Francis Ngannou continued.

Nate Diaz axes rematch with Jake Paul next rules out move to minor leagues with the PFL

UFC veteran, Nate Diaz has apparently ruled out a rumored rematch with former-foe, Jake Paul off the back of their August professional boxing match – claiming he would not be open to a move to the PFL (Professional Fighters League) which he described as the “minor leagues”, despite reports of a lucrative offer on the table from the promotion.

Diaz, a former undisputed lightweight title challenger and welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, made a professional boxing debut back in August of this year in Texas, suffering a unanimous decision loss to the above-mentioned, Paul in his first venture to the squared circle,

Deparing the UFC officially back in November of last year following a September main event fight with former interim lightweight champion in an impromptu welterweight clash, Stockton native, Diaz bowed out of the Dana White-led organization with a rallying fourth round guillotine choke win at the welterweight limit.

And following reports last month how Paul had been lined up for a return to professional boxing in December of this year – Diaz, a victor of The Ultimate Fighter, appeared to be all ears to a potential re-run in the ring.

However, reports would further claim from Most Valuable Promotions how Paul would not be boxing Diaz next, and how instead, PFL had made an offer to both of them to clash in mixed martial arts.

Nate Diaz rules out potential move to the PFL

In response to claims from PFL boss, Donn Davis how Diaz is “weaselling” out of a potential $15,000,000 payday to fight Paul next, the Californian fan-favorite maintained he would not consider a move to the North American-based promotion – one he considered a “back track” for his career.

“I’m good I’d rather fight real fighters,” Nate Diaz posted on his official X account tonight. “And never back track to the minor leagues p*ssyFL. Fight urself dipsh*t.”

Francis Ngannou disputes loss to Tyson Fury in boxing debut I won that fight

Suffering a hugely-controversial split decision loss to incumbent WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury in his professional boxing debut overnight, former UFC gold holder, Francis Ngannou claims he should have emerged with a victory in Riyadh – and furthermore, believes the Morecambe native knows that as well.

Headlining a Riyadh Season card in Saudi Arabia, Ngannou, a former undisputed UFC heavyweight titleholder, suffered a contentious and hugely-close, split judging loss to incumbent WBC gold holder, Fury in his professional boxing debut, dropping a 94-95, 96-93, and 95-94 loss to the former.

Francis Ngannou believes he did enough to beat Tyson Fury

Earning massive plaudits from the mixed martial arts community and boxing fanfare to boot for his performance against the lineal heavyweight champion – which included a thunderous third round knockdown, resulting in a 10-8 round in his favor, Ngannou claimed he knows and Fury also knows, he won the bout, despite the judge’s scorecards.

“If he’s (Tyson Fury) being honest, he would say I won that fight,” Francis Ngannou told ESPN. “I won that fight – there’s not a question about it. But, you know – and even before getting here [Saudi Arabia], I knew, I knew like, if this fight goes to decision, I’m not winning. Not because I didn’t do good, because I’m the new guy in the house.”

“I just come here and I wanna kick into people’s business,” Francis Ngannou explained. “I know, there is a structure of business out there, and you need to do a lot to destroy it, that’s why it would have been an upset for them. But, it is what it is, I do my job. I know that I did everything that I could have done, I did my best. Maybe next time, I should just do better to convince people more.”

Retaining his undefeated record — in the most narrow of fashions, undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury survived a massive scare courtesy of a huge third round knockdown from Francis Ngannou — defeating the former UFC heavyweight champion in a close, split decision (95-94, 96-93, 94-94) win over the Cameroonian in their main event clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Taking the opening two rounds against sport newcomer, Ngannou in their monstrous heavyweight fight, Fury was stunned massively in the third round — suffering a massive, upsetting knockdown.

Turning in the biggest punch of the fight so far, former UFC star, Ngannou clubbed Fury with a massive left hook in close on the temple, scoring a huge knockdown on the Morecambe native. With the knockdown, Batié native, Ngannou scored a 10-8 round officially over the WBC heavyweight titleholder.

Holding his own against Fury for the remainder of the fight, Ngannou would struggle with output in the remaining few rounds, despite some close combat encounters with the world champion, en route to a close, and sure-to-be contested split decision loss to the former.

While fans have notoriously mixed feelings leading into the Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury super fight, the latest promo for it does its job and delivers a truly compelling means to hype the bout up.

Slated to go down on the 28th of October, the Fury vs Ngannou super fight is rapidly approaching. Fans will finally get to see what happens when the greatest heavyweight mixed martial artist in the world stands toe to toe with none other than ‘The Gypsy King’ himself. In the promo, Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury can be seen diligently preparing for their battle. Training so hard that they cause a rip into the fabric of space and time, which, is admittedly very well executed by the producers of the promo.

In fact, the entire promo serves its purpose of hyping up the battle, while also not being too overly serious and carrying a slight satirical undertone throughout. Honestly, one could say that it is one of the greatest fight promos to be released all year, and maybe one of the greatest of all time.

One could also point out that the latest promo for the fight shows how much of a focus there is to generate interest in the bout. At one time, it seemed as if the entire world would’ve loved to see a fight between Ngannou and Fury. Now that we’re only twenty days out at the time of the writing of this article, it almost seems as if interest is at an all-time low.

With pirating and illegal streams being a giant detriment to the PPV numbers of modern fight cards, it will be intriguing to find out what the fight does end up selling; if the number does get released or leaked at all.
