New UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic earned an extra $50,000 for his first round finish of Fabricio Werdum Saturday night at UFC 198, walking away with a “Performance of the Night” bonus.

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who finished Vitor Belfort in the co-main event, was the other “Performance” winner, while Francisco Trinaldo and Yancy Medeiros scored “Fight of the Night” honors. All three picked up an additional $50,000 in bonus money.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of UFC Brazil, Giovani Decker, announced the awards, also stating that the attendance inside the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil was 45,207.

The highly-anticipated UFC 198 card that went down tonight (May 14, 2016) live on pay-per-view (PPV) delivered, as the event produced a plethora of exciting fights and finishes.

In the main event, Stipe Miocic upset Fabricio Werdum in Werdum’s home of Brazil. Miocic scored an emphatic first-round stoppage victory over “Vai Cavalo” to become the new undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The Croatian was given a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his tremendous efforts.

The co-main event showcased a pivotal middleweight bout as top contender Ronald “Jacare” Souza faced off with the legendary Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort. Looking to bounce back from a loss, “Jacare” came out and steam rolled Belfort to earn a first-round TKO victory.

Souza too earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus.

During the preliminary portion of the card, lightweights Yancy Medeiros and Francisco Trinaldo did battle. The two men fought back and forth in an exciting affair for three rounds before Medeiros came away with a decision victory.

Both combatants were handed a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus.
