Chael Sonnen

Conor McGregor and Chael Sonnen got into a back-and-forth argument on Twitter last night which ultimately led to ‘The American Gangster’ threatening the former two-division champion.

It is well known within the MMA community that Conor McGregor enjoys the occasional wind-up on Twitter, and poking fun at basically anyone involved within the UFC. So, it came as no surprise when McGregor found himself in a back and forth with one of the best trash talkers MMA has ever had in Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen was hosting an episode of ‘The Chael Sonnen Show with Jorge Sedano’ where he went on to speak about McGregor and the way he holds himself following his leg break during his trilogy with Dustin Poirier and referring to him as a ‘little rich weirdo’.

However, ‘The American Gangster’ was not done there going onto say this about McGregor after the Irishman posted a video of himself pacing around the room in the build up to Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez’s main event bout at UFC Vegas 42.

“It’s the last thing I wanted for him but if you mark out for your own gimmick to this extent… He’s posting things, then he’s deleting them. I’ve got to give the troll effort 100%. As a former troll myself, I get it.

“If they’re in the UFC, you didn’t step foot in it, you didn’t throw a single punch and you can steal a headline on ESPN+, you’re doing something well. But in all fairness, Conor’s not going to step in there with Max any more than he was going to step in with the guy last week, the week before that, or whoever he pulls out of his hat for next week. He’s got to heal himself.

“There’s talk of Dustin Poirier who has already smashed him twice. In all fairness, Conor is still a big draw, but he’s really working against himself. He’s being a weirdo. Is this what he wants as his identity? A guy walking around with his shirt off screaming at a television set. I mean, come on. In all fairness, when you were 22 years old that was one thing, but as a husband and a father, you’re a little bit of a dork.”

Conor McGregor Fires Back At Chael Sonnen

It came as no surprise to really all of us when McGregor chose to not let this go and had a few choice words for the former UFC Competitor, the Irishman himself took to twitter to share his thoughts on the matter calling Sonnen a ‘little broke

It’s not too late to stay off my radar Just put down the shot-glass of awful bottom-shelf whiskey, turn off your phone, and back outta the big-boy saloon niiiice n’ sloooow...,” Sonnen replied.

The Irishman then took shots at Sonnen’s YouTube channel by writing.

“Just set up the tripod, in the corner of your boxroom, and tell your 2 views the promo code is for window sheen”

The argument would fizzle out with both only having one more remark for the other with Sonnen saying: “Oh: And leave a nice heartfelt apology on the table as you exit”. To which McGregor replied:“A nice tip.”

Who do you think got the best of this exchange? Chael Sonnen or Conor McGregor?

Christian Lohsen

Christian Lohsen suffered an injury setback last night following a misplaced knee during a training session.

Lohsen took to Instagram to share this with his fans and provide an update following his successful surgery. This is what he had to say:

“So last night was rough… in a training accident I got my left testicle ruptured by a knee which led to it getting surgically removed… thank you to everyone last night that helped me get to the hospital. I’m fine home resting, surgery went well. Doc said I won’t lose testosterone or ability to have kids from this. If I lose the other one however it’s a different story so from now on if you hit me in my last testicle we aren’t friends… lol”

Despite what must have been an awful experience Lohsen remained in good spirits about the whole ordeal, going onto say:

“If I lose the other one however it’s a different story so from now on if you hit me in my last testicle, we aren’t friends…lol.”

The US-born fighter did not say when he would be back in training, however, given a healthy recovery you can expect to see Hollywood want to get back in there very soon. His last outing saw him pick up a unanimous decision win over Jonas Flok in his first bout in the PFL 2021 Playoffs back in August.

Christian Lohsen’s early career

Lohsen started his professional MMA career back in 2017, competing within the Real Fighting Championship. After picking up a series of wins in more regional promotions Lohsen gained an opportunity to compete on the Contender Series back in 2019. Unfortunately for him it wasn’t too be his night, as he lost to JJ Okanovich via unanimous decision. He would then go on to pick up a victory over Dennis Hughes fighting at iKon Fighting Federation 1 before making the switch over to the PFL.

Hopefully, Lohsen can recover swiftly and make his return to the octagon.

When he does who would you like to see him fight next?

The former UFC Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano recently appeared on the MMA on SiriusXM podcast to discuss her upcoming documentary Warrior Spirit. The exclusive interview can be found here ?Throwing Down w/ Renee & Miesha: BONUS: Nicco Montaño Opens Up on Apple Podcasts. The film is set to premier on the 12th of November, however in what should be a very proud moment herself. Instead, Montano had to speak upon how she felt ‘exploited’ during the filming of this piece and the issues that came along with this.

When I confronted my producer who was also my lawyer at the time and asked him why is this scene in the show, I’m getting all kinds of hate and I still haven’t been able to watch the link because you’re worried I’m still going to show the UFC something… even though I was at the tail-end of working with the UFC so I didn’t want to be involved with the film because I knew it was taking that route because they were being secretive about it,”

“Then the UFC was like, ‘Well, this documentary is coming out – anti-UFC – do you know about it? It has your name all over it.’ I haven’t been able to see it, I’ve been trying to ask them for a link, they’re not sending it to me.”

“When the film came out and everybody was like ‘Why are you doing this? Why are you exposing yourself? We’re native, we’re a modest people. You shouldn’t have done this. Now I’m not your fan,’” Montano said. “I have no idea what’s happening, I was never sent the link, I never said this was okay. If that part needed to be in the film… I don’t even see why it needed to be in the film.

“It’s funny because the film talks about the genocide of our people, right?” Nicco Montano added. “We get exploited by the government, the UFC exploits their fighters, and now I’m not getting any reimbursement from this show… exposed for free because I signed a contract that my lawyer did three years ago.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Nicco Montano also faced an uphill battle during her time with the UFC

The American-born fighter only stepped inside the octagon twice during her time with the UFC picking up a unanimous decision victory over Roxanne Modafferi back in December of 2017, followed up by a unanimous decision loss that came at the hands of Julianna Pena in July of 2019. Weight Cutting issues were a common occurrence for Montano. Unfortunately for her after continued problems with making weight and six consecutive canceled bouts, Montano was released by the UFC.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor might want to pursue a career in the music industry once he eventually retires from the fight game.

McGregor and his family were the guests of the MLB’s Chicago Cubs earlier this week, as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch that badly missed the home plate and nearly ended up in the stands. Following the viral moment, McGregor also sang the traditional ‘Take Me Out to The Ballgame’ that plays at all professional baseball games in North America during the seventh-inning stretch.

McGregor always showcases his trademark energy during public appearances, which was the case as he rallied the fans on the microphone in the broadcast booth. But, his singing featured multiple cringy moments and missed lyrics.

“Not sure what’s worse, his singing or his ceremonial first pitch,” one Twitter user noted.

McGregor is currently in the middle of recovery from the devastating leg injury he suffered at UFC 264 earlier this year against Dustin Poirier. He’s anticipating a return to the UFC octagon sometime next year and could possibly face another bout with Poirier.

For now, McGregor is rehabilitating is leg in the Los Angeles, CA area and is focusing on his various business ventures. He was invited to the Cubs game as a part of his partnership with his sports recovery line, TIDL Sport.

McGregor also profits from his Proper 12 whiskey line as well as his McGregor FAST fitness courses. He’s set up quite well away from the octagon, which has led many to ponder when he may leave the sport of MMA permanently.

Despite the blunders at the Cubs game, McGregor appears to be enjoying his time away from the sport and has had plenty of laughs in the process. Fans will only need to wait a bit longer for ‘Mystic Mac’ to fight once again.

Vitor Belfort

You won’t find MMA legend Vitor Belfort joining the outcry against the overmatched booking any time soon.

Sitting down to talk to LowKick MMA, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was asked about the upcoming exhibition boxing match between the 50-0 Floyd Mayweather and YouTube star Logan Paul, who dropped his debut match against fellow internet star KSI. Though many fans have dismissed the bout as a farce, Belfort sees the logic in the matchmaking.

“(Mayweather)’s brilliant in business… as a businessman in fighting, he’s one of the greatest,” Belfort said. “He really knows how to make money, how to create value. He sees an opportunity and he says, ‘Why do I need to fight a great fighter if I can fight a YouTuber and give what people want to see?’ Remember, they want to see something different. They don’t want to see boxing anymore. And that’s why the promoters need to open their eyes and say, ‘We need to become entertaining as well.’

“I don’t doubt the UFC is going to start putting YouTubers to fight,” Belfort continued. “That’s where the money is going to go. Because why? Because people want to see that. They don’t want to see the fighters. The fighters kill, they put their lives on the line, and (fans) don’t want to buy. But now you have a YouTuber fighting… they want to see it. So, you got to go where… as a promoter, it’s a different mindset. I think he really saw an opportunity.”

Belfort also thinks there might be another reason why Mayweather isn’t looking for fights against other combat sport athletes, such as The Phenom himself.

“Why (doesn’t) Mayweather fight me?” Belfort asked. “Mayweather, instead of fighting a YouTuber, can fight me. For example, I wear big gloves, he can wear headgear. But that would be a fight. Now, he’s fighting a professional fighter. (Paul)’s a professional YouTuber. Why (Mayweather) doesn’t fight me? Maybe I can only throw 2 hard punches in the round. You can put some fun rules, but now you have the weight problem. The rules of Nevada… in boxing, you can’t fight in openweight.”

Despite his ability to see the silver lining around Logan Paul’s matchup, Belfort was less enthusiastic about Jake Paul’s callout of MMA fighters following his knockout win over former NBA star Nate Robinson.

“Like I said, who’d he (fight)? A basketball player. It’s like me playing basketball. It’s like this: ‘Vitor, you’re a great fighter that maybe can play basketball. But that doesn’t make me a basketball player. The guy was ridiculous. The guy didn’t even know how to fight.”

However, Belfort wasn’t entirely negative towards the younger Paul brother.

“The kid looks good. I like the YouTuber. (Jake) looks good, he looks sharp. He throws a nice overhand, it really looks like he was training… I really think if I had a chance to work with him, he could be really dangerous in hand-to-hand combat. He hits hard. But like I said, now he’s in entertaining, so you’re open for so many people to say, ‘Oh, I challenge this guy, I challenge this guy.’

“He challenges guys that are really easy to beat,” Belfort continued. “(Danis) has barely started his career in MMA. He’s a grappler, he doesn’t know how to strike. I’m sorry, but he’s weak in striking. So, find someone your size. When you call someone out, you call them out for 2 reasons: you can make a lot of money, or you can win. That’s how they call people out. Why he doesn’t want to call me out? They’re always going to call (you out) if they can win or if they can make money. I think that’s where we’re going right now. It’s another avenue of business being created as we speak.”

Like all things, only time will tell who is right about the matchup. Boxing matches between Mayweather and two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor, as well as a recent fight between 54-year-old Mike Tyson and 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr., were also scoffed at, only to each draw in well over a million pay-pay-view buys. Perhaps Belfort is right, and celebrity fights will be the things of the future. Because whether people are tuning in as a joke or out of genuine curiosity, promoters can ride them to the bank.

What do you think about Vitor Belfort’s comments? Will we see YouTubers in the UFC octagon any time soon?

Kamaru Usman Responds To Colby Covington Ripping NBA Players

Due to the protest of Jacob Blake’s death in Wisconsin earlier this month, professional athletes from the NBA and MLB have since gone on strike and are unwilling to budge. They want justice, and there have already been so many issues this year with this kind of thing.

It started out by the Milwaukee Bucks refusing to play their playoff game against Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, which has led to every NBA game being postponed. Now there are also baseball games being postponed due to the protest.

Former interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington had some choice words for these athletes, or ‘snowflakes’ as he’d call them:

“Oh wow, you postponed your games?! Wanna prove you’re really about change? Quit your multi million dollar jobs and soft privileged lives playing a kids game, take a massive pay cut and perform the toughest job in America. Become cops!!!!”

UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman then interjected with a statement of his own:

“I really wish someone would just break your jaw already…”

If Covington wins his next fight against Tyron Woodley and Usman wins his next fight with Gilbert Burns, we may get to see these two go at it again. What a treat that would be, everyone wants to see this fight again. They’re the two best welterweights in the sport, and their first fight was insane.

It’s so unfortunate that we finally got sports back, and now this happens. At least us MMA fans didn’t have to wait more than two months without fights, but all of these sports started their seasons late. The chaos needs to end, we should all be working together in order for it to.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ also uploaded this video yesterday regarding what’s been going on, sharing his thoughts on the matter.
