Another UFC fighter has now shown interest in taking on the world of professional wrestling.

Several years ago, former UFC prospect Matt Riddle walked about from the cage after severing ties with UFC President Dana White. He made the transition into professional wrestling and instantly became one of the industry’s hottest stars. WWE signed him to a contract this past summer.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and UFC Hall Of Famer Ronda Rousey signed with WWE earlier this year as well. She is currently the WWE Raw Women’s Champion and one of the company’s biggest stars. Also, Brock Lesnar has fluctuated between both the UFC and WWE for the past several years.

Recently, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez teased a career in WWE when he visited the company’s Performance Center in Florida. He participated in several drills inside the ring, worked out in the facility’s weight room, and attended a show that night.

Current UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is a lifelong WWE fan. He revealed recently he has a tryout with the company to serve as a commentator for their shows. And now, UFC star Paige VanZant is expressing interest in becoming affiliated with the professional wrestling juggernaut.

“PVZ” was recently at a tech summit in Portugal and was asked about the possibility. She said she’s definitely interested in a potential WWE career, but isn’t ready to leave MMA anytime soon. VanZant also revealed that she recently spoke to top WWE executive Stephanie McMahon (via MMA Weekly):

“I’m not ready to leave the UFC just yet. I love being a professional fighter and I still have a long career ahead of me,” VanZant said. “I also think the WWE is an amazing organization and it’s a very athletic entertainment industry which would suit me.

“There’s probably huge potential for a crossover down the line and of course I’m a big fan of what they do, so it would be great to be a part of. I got the opportunity to talk to Stephanie for a little bit on Tuesday which was great.”

With the eye of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world on the chaos of UFC 223, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made her pro-wrestling debut at tonight’s (Sun. April 8, 2018) WrestleMania XXXIV from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Teaming up with fellow former Olympic medalist Kurt Angle, Rousey took on WWE executives Stephanie McMahon and her husband, Paul “Triple H” Levesque in a mixed tag-team match.

It was one of more awaited WWE debuts for some time, and Rousey delivered on the hype in a big way.

First, she got the crowd going wild with her walkout in honor of former WWE champion “Rowdy” Roddy Piper:

That lead to a so-called ‘surreal’ face-off between the four competitors in the center of the squared circle:

And after some initial offense from McMahon and Levesque, Rousey finally got her chance to rush in on the action, and he wasted no time doing so against McMahon:

“Rowdy” was then able to get McMahon in a compromising position for her trademark armbar:

Then, Rousey showed some scripted boxing skills, the exact area of her once-feared MMA game that unfortunately lead to her downfall, by nailing Triple H with a nonstop torrent of rapid punches:

She showed some newly-acquired pro-wrestling skills as well, flowing well and slamming McMahon like a natural:

Finally, Rousey got McMahon in a brutal armbar for the finish, leading to a monstrous debut victory alongside Angle and a round of celebration with the fans:

Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey is now officially a part of the WWE’s roster and was baptized in classic professional wrestling fashion after Stephanie McMahon slammed her through a table on Monday.

But that wasn’t even the worst part of her appearance on RAW, as McMahon did the unthinkable by bringing up Rousey’s devastating knockout losses that led her to retire from the sport altogether. Rousey is notoriously prickly when it comes to discussing those losses in interviews, but that didn’t stop Vince McMahon’s daughter from “going there” – and didn’t stop Rousey from letting her for money.

Watch the exchange for yourself:

McMahon insisted Rousey’s first loss in pro-wrestling would come in her very first match, poking fun at how the ‘world knows she handles losses’:

“Ronda, just remember that you chose this path. This is all on you. You are going to lose at WrestleMania. In the record books, your very first match in WWE is going to be a loss to me.

“And we all know — The world knows how you handle losses.”

Rousey will make her official WWE debut at Wrestlemania 34 on Sunday in a tag team match with partner and fellow Olympic medalist Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and her real-life husband, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Stephanie McMahon: ‘I Would Love to Add Ronda Rousey’ to WWE Roster

Anyone who feels the interest in bringing Ronda Rousey to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has waned, should tell that to Stephanie McMahon. WWE “Would Love to Add Ronda Rousey” Says Stephanie McMahon

Ronda Rousey‘s appeal to the mainstream world was her perceived invincibility, and while that notion has been shattered by back-to-back losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, there is still an undeniable mystique to the former UFC bantamweight champion.

WWE Chief Brand Officer and on-screen personality Stephanie McMahon is one of the many who are still intrigued by Rousey, and she left no room for doubt over whether that has changed in a recent interview with ESPN’s His & Hers. Check out the clip here:

“I would love to add Ronda Rousey,” she said (h/t MMAMania.com’s Ryan Harkness for the transcription). “I know that she loves WWE and we certainly love her, so it would be a match, no pun intended, made in heaven. So hopefully one day we’ll have that opportunity.”

McMahon singing Rousey‘s praises is no surprise at this point. Since Rousey‘s appearance at SummerSlam 2014 (which was followed by an in-ring appearance at WrestleMania 31 in 2015), the daughter of Vince McMahon has been publicly courting Rousey to join the WWE. The attempts to woo her didn’t end after the loss to Holm (with McMahon stating she would be “welcomed with open arms” in December, per USA Today) and clearly didn’t end after her loss to Nunes.

And indeed, there is likely at least a bit of interest on Rousey‘s part. Speaking with Bleacher Report in 2016, Rousey discussed that she has been a WWE fan since childhood, pointing to Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt as her favorites of today.

So does that mean fans should anticipate her appearing at WrestleMania this Sunday? Probably not, as McMahon said she hadn’t spoken with the Rousey camp of late.

That said, Rousey appearing in the WWE makes a great deal of sense, and with so much chatter on that front over recent weeks, it wouldn’t be all that much of a shock if she crashed the ring Sunday.
