UFC London Tom Aspinall vs. Marcin Tybura Betting Preview

Almost a year to the day of his shocking knee injury suffered at UFC London against perennial contender, Curtis Blaydes, the hotly-tipped, Tom Aspinall is slated to make his Octagon comeback in the capital this weekend – closing as a hard and fast betting favorite to topple Polish veteran, Marcin Tybura in his combat sports return.

Aspinall, the current number five ranked heavyweight contender, has been sidelined from active mixed martial arts competition for a year ahead his comeback this weekend, suffering a catastrophic knee injury in the opening seconds of his second consecutive headliner on UK soil last summer.

Blowing out his knee inside just 15-seconds of the opening frame, Atherton native, Aspinall saw his promotional-perfect Octagon run come to a halt against Blaydes, with the Illinois native prospering from the former’s misfortune.

This weekend, on home soil once again, will attempt to return to the winner’s enclosure at UFC London – headlining an albeit lacklustre card, taking on heavyweight staple, Tybura.

And over on Betway at the time of publication, Aspinall can be backed as high as a -500 betting favorite to defeat the former M-1 Global heavyweight titleholder, with Tybura a hefty betting underdog at +300.

12-3 as a professional, Team Kaobon staple, Aspinall, who has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of fellow UK favorites, Michael Bisping, and current welterweight champion, Leon Edwards to himself secure gold in the future, will look to reignite that title run this weekend at The O2 Arena.

An alum of Cage Warriors, prior to his injury TKO loss to Blaydes, Aspinall had enjoyed a roughshod run through the heavyweight ranks in the UFC, toppling the likes of former champion, Andrei Arlovski, as well as upcoming UFC Paris headliner, Sergei Spivak, and in his premiere main event clash, Alexander Volkov.

And linked with a future championship outing – potentially as soon as his next bout, should he return triumphantly against Tybura this weekend in London, Aspinall has been backed to potential earn himself a blockbuster title pairing with current champion, Jon Jones, ahead of the American’s title fight return against Stipe Miocic in November at UFC 295.

Also closing as an impressive betting favorite over at Betway to boot, Liverpool veteran, Molly McCann is currently sitting as a -200 favorite to defeat the +150 betting underdog, Julija Stoliarenko in her return to the Octagon.

Sidelined since featuring against the highly-touted, Erin Blanchfield at UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden, McCann looks to bounce back to the winner’s enclosure following a hugely one-sided first round kimura loss to the New Jersey native.

In another interesting line ahead of UFC London, Scottish grappling ace, Paul Craig can be backed as a +175 betting underdog ahead of his fight with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu counterpart, Andre Muniz – with the Brazilian sat as a -225 betting favorite.

The pairing with come as Craig’s first at the middleweight limit over the course of his professional career, following back-to-back losses against both Volkan Oezdemir, and at the beginning of the year, Johnny Walker at UFC 283 in Brazil.

Tom Aspinall picks himself as next heavyweight champion Jon Jones UFC London return

Slated to make his return from a brutal knee injury this weekend in the main event of UFC Fight Night London, Atherton native, Tom Aspinall has touted himself as the next heavyweight champion following the reign of current gold holder and pound-for-pound number one, Jon Jones.

Aspinall, the current number five ranked heavyweight contender, has been sidelined since he headlined a UFC London back in July of last year, suffering a debilitating knee injury in a 15-second TKO loss to perennial contender, Curtis Blaydes.

Riding a run of five consecutive victories to kick start his Octagon tenure prior to his loss to Blaydes last year, Tom Aspinall had turned in notable stoppage wins over both Sergei Spivak, as well as Alexander Volkov – the latter of which in a headlining slot in the capital back in March of last year.

Tom Aspinall confident of striking UFC gold next

Booked to return this weekend against Polish heavyweight veteran, Marcin Tybura, Aspinall has tipped himself to become the next heavyweight gold holder.

“[Marcin Tybura] got me at the worst time he could ever get me because I am unbelievably hungry right now,” Tom Aspinall told UFC.com. “I am ready to show everybody that I am just the next heavyweight champion, honestly. I’m ready to show everybody what I’m all about.”

Later this year, the aforenoted, Jones, a former two-time light heavyweight champion, is slated to make his first attempted heavyweight title defense, taking on the returning former two-time champion, Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden.

Jones had struck vacant heavyweight gold back in March at UFC 285, submitting former interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane with a first round guillotine choke submission win.

A staple of Team Kaobon, Aspinall has been tipped to contend for heavyweight gold in the near future – included in conversations with the likes of the aforenoted former interim titleholder, Gane, and surging Russian heavyweight knockout artist, Sergei Pavlovich.

UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall backs Francis Ngannou to beat Deontay Wilder should they meet in the boxing ring.

Since leaving the UFC and signing his monumental deal with PFL, Ngannou is not only set up financially, but also free to explore other fighting opportunities out with the promotion such as boxing. ‘The Predator’ has previously expressed his interest in getting a big boxing fight, and has been pursuing a fight with reigning WBC champion, Tyson Fury.

Tom Aspinall backs Francis Ngannou in fight with Deontay Wilder

While a fight against one of the big name heavyweights may be hard to pin down for Francis Ngannou, it hasn’t stopped people fantasising about how he may get on. A lot of MMA fighters who have made the switch to the squared circle have come up short, but when talking with JNMediaUK, fellow big man, Aspinall liked his chances against one of the heavyweight elites.

I would love to see him against Wilder, because it’s just two f—ing massive guys who can punch holes through walls,” Aspinall began. “It’s ridiculous. I’d love to see that. If there’s anybody he could beat, it would be Wilder,” Aspinall added. “Because Wilder is … and I don’t want to slag the guy off, because he’s one of the hardest punchers ever. But as far as actual boxing ability, his level is way lower than an Usyk or Tyson Fury or someone like that.

The guy’s punching power is off the charts, absolutely ridiculous, out of this world, “ Aspinall continued. “But I think he’s quite hittable and his fight IQ doesn’t see to be, like, great. I think if there’s any of em who [Ngannou] could beat, it would be Wilder.” (H/T MMA Mania)

Last year, ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor took to Twitter to attack Aspinall. The Irish-born athlete said, in since-deleted Tweets:

“Bum pk. Say sayonara to that gk deal kid. Starve you and kill you I will you fing disrespectful p***k … Don’t ever speak my name in disrespect again. Mush potato head … @AspinallMMA mush head rat keep your comments to yourself.”

Tom Aspinall responds to Conor McGregor

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall explained how confused he was by this. He said:

“I honestly don’t know [why he was so angry]. I have so much respect for Conor, I would never disrespect him or anybody else. I’m not that kind of guy. I’m an adult, I ain’t trying to beef with nobody. If I’m trying to beef with anyone, I want to be someone in my division, so we can at least have a fight and make some money off it. No idea. Literally, all I said was, ‘I’m not as interested in Conor’s fight as I was in other fights coming up.’ That was it. No disrespect meant to anybody.”

Despite death threats from Conor McGregor, Aspinall has nothing but respect for the man. He continued:

“I’m a massive fan. Conor’s a massive inspiration for me. He’s an Irish guy, I’m an English guy – they’re really close to each other, and he’s done massive things in the sport. I was a bit like, ‘Wow, I didn’t mean to offend anybody’ … I don’t want a beef with nobody, bro. We don’t need that kind of beef. But he’s angry about it, or he was – I don’t know how it feels at the moment. But who knows what he’s doing.” [Transcript courses of MMA Fighting]

UFC heavyweight contender, Tom Aspinall has claimed he will respect the wished of former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor – after the Dubliner threatened to “kill” and “starve” him last week, urging the Atherton native to keep his name of his mouth.

Aspinall, the current #6 ranked heavyweight contender, most recently featured in the main event of UFC Fight Night London back in July of last year, suffering a catastrophic knee injury just 15-seconds into his main event clash with Curtis Blaydes, resulting in a TKO loss.

The British fan-favorite had enjoyed an impressive five-fight winning spree during his Octagon tenure before suffering his loss to Blaydes – defeating Alexander Volkov in a main event clash in London earlier that year, to go with a dominant TKO win over Sergey Spivak in September 2021 at the UFC Apex facility.

Sharing his thoughts on the impending return of former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion, McGregor later this year in an expected welterweight fight against Michael Chandler, Tom Aspinall explained how his interest in the Dubliner was waning – claiming he could name an abundance of other fights which pique his interest instead.

As a result, McGregor issued a slew of threats to Aspinall – including the removal of the heavyweight from a sponsorship programe with outfitting brand, Gym King.

Bum pr*ck,Conor McGregor said. “Say sayonara to that GK deal, kid. Starve you and kill you I will, you f*cking disrespectful pr*ck. Don’t ever speak my name again. Mush potato head.

Tom Aspinall distances himself from rivalry with Conor McGregor

In response to McGregor, Aspinall insisted that he did not disrespect the 34-year-old counter striker, but claimed he wanted to bury the hatchet with the Crumlin native immediately.

Conor (McGregor) told me not to speak about him anymore so I’m going to respect that,” Tom Aspinall said during an interview with Jamal Niaz. “I don’t… He’s a scary guy. I don’t want anyone – he made threats so I’m gonna back off. I ain’t gonna talk about him no more if that’s the case.

I didn’t disrespect him in any way,” Tom Aspinall explained. “I would never disrespect him or anybody, you know what I mean. You’ve met me plenty of times and I’m not that kind of character. I wouldn’t disrespect anyone, especially someone like him who’s a massive pioneer of the sport. All I said was I’m more interested in other fights. There’s a freakin’ heavyweight title dight coming up this weekend, in my division. Of course, I’m going to be more interested in that. But, who knows? Like I said, his name is staying out of my mouth right now. I don’t want none of that.” (Transcribed by Middleeasy
