Fans cry robbery after Tyson Fury lands close decision win over Francis Ngannou boxing is rigged

Off the back of tonight’s massive heavyweight headliner in Riyadh, in which undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury narrowly emerged with his undefeated record intact against professional debutante, Francis Ngannou, fans and pundits have cried robbery and claimed the sport of boxing is “rigged” amid a controversial decision.

Headlining a Riyadh Season-promoted event in Saudi Arabia, undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury was taken the 10-round distance by former UFC heavyweight titleholder, Ngannou – suffering a huge third round knockdown to boot.

Starting well against the sport newcomer, Ngannou, Fury amassed a two-round lead against the Batié native, until hazard struck in the third frame – courtesy of a massive left hook knockdown, which sent Fury reeling to the ring’s canvas.

Tyson Fury landed a close split decision win over Francis Ngannou

Managing to shake loose certain cobwebs inflicted by Ngannou’s clubbing strike, Fury took home a close, split decision win over the Cameroonian through some activity-filled remainder rounds – before appearing to solidify his expected future pairing with fellow heavyweight world champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

However, in response to the close decision win for Morecambe native, Fury – a host of high-profile pundits called robbery and claimed the sport of boxing was rigged and furthermore, corrupt.

“We’ve just seen a robbery,” Former England footballer and television pundit, Gary Lineker wrote on social media.

“Robbery….. Both Jake Paul and Francis (Ngannou) got robbed in Saudi,” Anthony Taylor posted. “Fury paying off people.”

“Ngannou was robbed!” Former two-division UFC champion, Henry Cejudo posted on his official X account

“That’s a disgrace,” Adam McKola posted on his official X account. “Not a chance Ngannou didn’t win that!

“Saudi already bought the Fury [vs.] Usyk fight that’s why they couldn’t give the decision to Ngannou,” UFC contender, Oban Elliott posted. “GET F*CKED we aren’t dumb.”

Retaining his undefeated record — in the most narrow of fashions, undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury survived a massive scare courtesy of a huge third round knockdown from Francis Ngannou — defeating the former UFC heavyweight champion in a close, split decision (95-94, 96-93, 94-94) win over the Cameroonian in their main event clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Taking the opening two rounds against sport newcomer, Ngannou in their monstrous heavyweight fight, Fury was stunned massively in the third round — suffering a massive, upsetting knockdown.

Turning in the biggest punch of the fight so far, former UFC star, Ngannou clubbed Fury with a massive left hook in close on the temple, scoring a huge knockdown on the Morecambe native. With the knockdown, Batié native, Ngannou scored a 10-8 round officially over the WBC heavyweight titleholder.

Holding his own against Fury for the remainder of the fight, Ngannou would struggle with output in the remaining few rounds, despite some close combat encounters with the world champion, en route to a close, and sure-to-be contested split decision loss to the former.

Boxing Legend Roy Jones Jr. wants to fight tommy fury: ‘That would be out of this world’

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. is ready to throw hands with Tommy Fury.

It will be a star-studded event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as some of the biggest names in combat sports head to the Middle East to take in Saturday’s highly anticipated clash between former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and reigning WBC heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury.

Two of those stars, multi-time world champion Roy Jones Jr. and Tyson Fury’s undefeated younger brother, Tommy Fury, hooked up and verbally agreed to strap on the eight-ounce gloves against one another if Fury’s father, John Fury, steps inside the ring with another icon of the sport, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

“I said if your father fights Mike [Tyson], me and you do the co-main event,” Jones Jr. said in a video clip shared by Happy Punch on X. “That would be out of this world, brother. If they fight, me and him on the undercard.”

Tommy Fury was 100 percent on board with the idea saying, “Let’s do it. Honestly.”

John Fury, the eccentric father of both Tommy and Tyson Fury, has taken issue with Mike Tyson’s involvement in his son’s fight against Francis Ngannou, suggesting that the former undisputed heavyweight world champion is a traitor to his sport by coaching an MMA fighter against a legitimate boxer. As a result, John Fury has called for a boxing match with Mike Tyson to settle their differences like proper warriors.

Mike Tyson last competed in November 2020, stepping into the ring for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr. The bout was dubbed a draw after eight rounds and it appeared that ‘Iron’ was all, but retired following the contest. But when it comes to a big money-making opportunity, never say never.

“I don’t do that stuff no more,” Mike Tyson told TheMACLife when asked about a potential exhibition bout with John Fury. “I only fight for money. Everybody wants me to fight an exhibition. Everybody. Hey, listen… If the price is right.”

With both John and Tommy Fury on board for the potential event, perhaps Tyson Fury will book himself a fight on the card and make it a full-on family affair.

Israel Adesanya Slaps $20,000 wager on Francis Ngannou to beat Tyson Fury in Boxing Fight

Israel Adesanya

Two-time middleweight world champion Israel Adesanya is throwing down some big money on Francis Ngannou.

On Saturday, October 28, ‘The Predator’ will make his long-awaited return to combat sports, but this time, it won’t be inside a cage. Instead, the former UFC heavyweight champ will strap on the eight-ounce gloves for his professional boxing debut in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Standing across from him will be reigning, but not defending, WBC heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury.

Going into the contest, ‘The Gypsy King’ currently sits as a massive -1400 favorite to come out on top on DraftKings, meaning that you would have to lay down $1,400 on Fury to win $100. On the flip side, Francis Ngannou is listed as a hefty +750 underdog, meaning a $100 bet on the Cameroonian could net you a cool $750 should he manage to shock the world and score a victory over one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport.

Those odds on Ngannou certainly sound good to Israel Adesanya who laid down $20,000 across two separate bets with both favoring ‘The Predator’ to leave the Middle East with his hand raised. “Aint no fat sausage, it’s prime angus @stake,” Adesanya wrote alongside two images detailing his big-money bets on Ngannou.

Israel Adesanya Could Turn His 20k into Almost $175,000

‘The Last Stylebender’ dropped just over $15,000 on a straight moneyline bet favoring Ngannou with a separate $5,000 bet on ‘The Predator’ to win by way of knockout. If Ngannou does walk away as the winner, Adesanya will turn his 15k into over $123,000. If the win comes via KO, his $5,000 gamble will pay off tenfold.

Of course, the odds are as long as they are because Ngannou, who has never fought as a professional boxer, will be taking on the man that many believe is the greatest heavyweight in the history of the sport. Tyson Fury goes into the contest undefeated with a record of 33-0-1 with 24 knockouts and a significant height advantage.
