WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury appears to be losing patience regarding a potential heavyweight title fight with fellow gold holder, Oleksandr Usyk – once more placing a deadline on the bout, and claiming he will draw former UFC heavyweight best, Francis Ngannou next, if an agreement cannot be met.

Fury, the current undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, has yet to return to the squared circle since he defeated three-time foe, Derek Chisora in a dominant tenth round TKO win over the veteran in December of last year.

In the time since, however, the Morecambe native has been linked continually with a title grudge match against Ukrainian champion, Usyk – however, despite ongoing negotiations between both camps, an agreement between Fury and the latter has yet to be struck.

Amid the aforenoted, Ngannou’s official departure from the UFC following the completion of his contractual obligations, the Cameroon native has been mentioned as a possible next opponent for Fury – particularly in hybrid-rules matchup

Tyson Fury slaps deadline on negotiations for Oleksandr Usyk fight

And according to Fury, the British heavyweight champion has issued another month deadline for the fight with Usyk to come to fruition, before he switches lanes and offers to fight Ngannou next.

“I’m hoping so, I’m very much hoping so,” Tyson Fury said about scoring a fight with Francis Ngannou this year during an interview with Give Me Sport. “Because if (Oleksandr) Usyk doesn’t happen like this month coming, then I’m going to say, right then, let’s move on and do Francis Ngannou.”

“And I’m looking to get Francis in a cage with 4oz gloves on and throw down with him, swinging some big bombs,” Tyson Fury explained. “It’s risky because Francis, at one point, was considered the biggest puncher in combat sports. So with 4oz gloves on, all it takes is one punch and it’s all over.”

Sidelined since January of last year, renowned knockout artist, Ngannou headlined UFC 270 on that occasion, successfully unifying the heavyweight titles with a unanimous decision win over the then-undefeated, Ciryl Gane.

Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou is ready to sign on the dotted line for a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Formerly the UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou walked away from a contract that would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the promotion’s 30-year history. Instead, ‘The Predator’ will focus on testing his mettle in the sweet science and it’s looking like ‘The Gypsy King’ will be the man to greet him inside the squared circle. Fury recently called for a mixed-rules fight with Ngannou during an interview with Seconds Out.

“You [Francis Ngannou] want to earn some big boy money? Come see the Gypsy King and let’s do a big, big fight for the baddest mother f*cker on the planet. Let’s kick it up spicy, in a cage, four-ounce gloves under Queensbury [rules] and let’s have a bada** referee like ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. Did I just sell that to the world?”

After Two Years of Talk, Francis Ngannou is Ready to Make a Fight With Tyson Fury a Reality

It’s far from the first time the two heavy hitters have expressed interest in scrapping with one another, but ‘The Predator’ hopes that their desire to throw hands with one another with go beyond social media and become reality.

“Let me remind you that Tyson Fury and I have been warming up on social media for more than two years,” Ngannou said in an interview with Canal Afrique. Obviously, we all need this fight. It’s been long enough. Hopefully we have the possibility of dotting the i’s” (Transcribed by MMA News)

Capturing the UFC heavyweight championship with a second-round knockout of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260, Francis Ngannou spent the next year engaging in a very public contract dispute with the promotion. He returned to the Octagon at UFC 270 and successfully defended his title against Ciryl Gane. Following the fight, it was revealed that ‘The Predator’ needed to undergo knee surgery that would keep him on the shelf for the majority of the following year. During that time, Ngannou and the UFC were unable to come to terms on a new contract leaving UFC president Dana White no choice, but to part ways with the Cameroonian heavyweight and strip him of the heavyweight title in the process.

With the heavyweight throne empty, former light heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones will return this March to challenge No. 1 ranked heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane to crown a new king of the division.

Heavyweight boxing icon Tyson Fury presented Francis Ngannou with a challenge that Chael Sonnen believes is perhaps the “dumbest idea in sports history.”

Francis Ngannou recently walked away from the UFC, leaving behind his heavyweight title and a contract that would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the promotion’s 30-year history. Eager to test his mettle in the world of boxing, ‘The Predator’ has been long-rumored for a bout with heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury. ‘The Gypsy King’ added fuel to the fire by challenging Ngannou but not to any old boxing match.

“Francis Ngannou, I know you’re out of contract with the UFC,” Fury told SecondsOut Boxing on Saturday. “You want to earn some big boy money? Come and see ‘The Gypsy King’ and let’s do a big, big fight for the baddest MF on the planet. Let’s kick it up, spicy, in a cage, four-ounce gloves, under Queensberry, and let’s have a badass referee like ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. Oh, did I just sell that to the world?’”

Chael Sonnen Left Dumbfounded by Tyson Fury’s Confusing Challenge

Lending his thoughts on Tyson Fury’s callout and subsequent challenge, Chael Sonnen was left dumbfounded. The former three-time UFC title challenger addressed Fury’s callout of ‘The Predator’ during a recent episode of his Beyond The Fight series on YouTube.

“I see Tyson Fury come out over the weekend and finally clear up first what we’re going to do first with Francis,” Sonnen said. “They’ve always said they’re going to make up a sport. These two were going to do a game, but they were going to do something combat related. For reasons unknown, they weren’t going to box. Francis offered to box, and for reasons unknown, Tyson did not accept that invitation, and they were going to make up rules.

“Tyson finally laid out for us what they are. They were going to fight in a cage. I have no idea why. They’re going to fight in a cage. OK, fine. They’re going to wear four-once gloves. I have no idea why, but OK, fine. They are then going to follow boxing rules, the rules of Queensbury. …

“I put this out there because of how disappointing it is to see these boxers as beggers. Guys that are hot to fight to go out there and get it on your own, that have physical capabilities that other men can only dream of. But they don’t know how to go out there and get it on their own. They just don’t know how. I bring it to you because to watch Tyson Fury beg, it was surprising. I don’t want to call it disappointing. It was really close to calling it that, but I don’t want to call it that. So Tyson comes to us with perhaps the dumbest idea in sports history, perhaps. He knows it is.”

As most of us have heard by now, Jake Paul is once again expected to face Tommy Fury after their previous two fight bookings never ended up happening.

Hopefully the third time will be the charm? They are slated for a showdown next month on February 25, and the older brother of Tommy, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has chimed in on what he expects out of Tommy going into the bout.

Michael Benson posted the following to his Twitter account from an interview Tyson Fury did with TalkSport:

“It’s gonna be fun and I expect Tommy to chin him (knock Paul out). And if he doesn’t, he can stay in Saudi Arabia.”

Fury vs Paul is intended to go down in Saudi Arabia, more or less meaning Tyson will disown his little brother for losing to someone like Paul, which is rather comical.

Paul has gone 6-0 thus far into his professional boxing career, securing four knockouts in that time, while Fury has gone 8-0, also with four knockouts thus far into his young career. We though we were past this point the last time Tommy withdrew from a fight with Paul back in December of 2021, where Paul ended up fighting Tyron Woodley for the second time, but here we are again.

Do you think Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury goes down as planned? If so, who wins?
