The MMA world will shift its ever-evolving focus onto this weekend’s (Sat., October 8, 2015) UFC 204 from Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, where unlikely UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will take on legendary veteran Dan Henderson in a rematch of their UFC 100 classic when ‘Hendo’ knocked out ‘The Count’ with quite possibly them most infamous UFC knockout of all time.

But the tables would at least appear to be turned, as Bisping is coming off the most torrid stretch of his lengthy career with a win over all-time great Anderson Silva that lead into his shocking knockout of then-champion Luke Rockhold at June’s UFC 199. ‘Hendo’ is 46 years old and heading into the final fight of his storied career – win or lose – so the odds dictate Bisping will be able to defend his crown in his backyard.

Bisping’s striking coach Jason Parillo thinks he’s going to do just that quite emphatically, however. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Parillo predicted that Bisping would get his revenge with a one-shot knockout of his own:

So we’re just going to go one shot. Every time I get asked these questions, I go with the one shot. If it ends from one shot, I’ll tell you what shot it’s gonna be. It’s gonna be a head kick. He’s gonna knock out Dan Henderson with a head kick. Left head kick. He’s gonna knock him out with a left head kick.”

Quite the prediction from Parillo, who is currently one of the more successful coaches in the UFC with Bisping and Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino. Despite its boldness, however, it may not be all that surprising considering that Henderson has lost by first-round stoppage in an increasing number of fights despite his impressive win over former Bellator champ Hector Lombard, also at UFC 199.

Do you agree with Parillo’s brash prediction, or will ‘Hendo’ shock the world one final time by knocking out ‘The Count’ yet again?

You can listen to Parillo’s full interview starting at 1:00:43 in the video below:

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has made his fair share of enemies during his 12-year career. That’s not such a bad thing though. Once ‘The Count’ won the title at UFC 199 there was a plethora of potential fights awaiting him. The years of trash talking and hard fighting had finally paid off for the popular British veteran. 36 fights in to his professional run and now he’s looking for revenge against Dan Henderson at UFC 204.

‘Hendo’ laid waste to the Englishman’s chin during the historic UFC 100 show in 2009. The iconic knockout Bisping received was severe in nature and clearly haunts him to this day. ‘The Count’s’ stunning career turnaround came after some troubled times and hard losses. When he started out in the UFC, one Rich Franklin ruled the middleweight roost. Just months later ‘Ace’ would lose to another legend in Anderson Silva. ‘The Spider’ would remain unbeaten for the following seven years.

Before Anderson Silva came along, Rich Franklin was making his case as one of the all-time best in the sport. At 22-1 (1), the former high school math teacher was blazing a trail before getting knocked out by ‘The Spider.’ Fast forward to present day, and the now-retired Franklin is 41 years of age but still involved in combat sports. ‘Ace’ is the vice president of growing Asian mixed martial arts promotion ONE Championship.

Bisping has defeated Silva on the way to becoming the champ state side, and Silva is without a win in nearly four years. It’s crazy how times change. Franklin’s last bout for the UFC came in 2012, a rather hard-to-watch KO loss against Cung Le in Macau, China. Another interesting link between ‘Ace’ and Bisping–‘The Count’ would go on to wreck Cung Le in his next fight, again in Macau in 2014. Where this whole middleweight history lesson comes full circle is through Franklin’s recent comments to Franco Mabanta. Check it out:

Since Michael Bisping claimed the crown at UFC 199, it’s been like a throwback to a time long past. The Brit will be fighting Dan Henderson soon, Rich Franklin suddenly pipes up and even Georges St-Pierre has been in the mix.

What next?

Dana White Thinks UFC 202 Will Break PPV Record

Arguably the biggest card of the year is finally set to take place this Saturday night (August 20, 2016), as UFC 202 will go down from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada presented live on pay-per-view (PPV). The UFC has put together quite a solid card from top to bottom, but all eyes are likely fixated on the evening’s main event which features a highly anticipated rematch between Stockton native Nate Diaz and reigning featherweight champion the “Notorious” Conor McGregor.

McGregor and Diaz met for a first time back at March 5’s UFC 196 where Diaz scored a shocking second round submission victory over the Irishman on one of the best-selling events of all-time, at least according to estimates. This time, however, UFC President Dana White, feels as if the two superstars will lead a record breaking pay-per-view:

“I do [think it will break the all-time PPV record] — it’s trending that way,” company president Dana White recently revealed during and appearance on ‘The Herd.‘ “These guys broke the record last time — and it looked like UFC 200 was going to break their record — then Jon Jones fell out. It looks like these guys will break the record again.”

While the UFC doesn’t release exact numbers when it comes to pay-per-view sales, White’s comments seem to indicate that UFC 196 broke the record previously set by July 2009’s UFC 100 which has been a constant debate.

Aside from Diaz vs. McGregor II, UFC 202 will feature a light heavyweight title eliminator between former title challengers Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Glover Teixeira. Also on the main card, fan favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will square off with veteran Rick Story in a welterweight bout.

Does UFC 202 have what it takes to set a new record?

Dana White Announces Michael Bisping vs. Dan Henderson Rematch

After coming in on short notice and scoring an emphatic upset knockout victory over Luke Rockhold to steal the title at UFC 199, Michael Bisping had made it clear that he had revenge on his mind. When asked who he’d like to make his first title defense against, the newly-minted champion responded with Dan Henderson, an ageing legend who had brutally knocked him out back at UFC 100 in 2009.

Despite the clear interest from fans, it was hard to tell how realistic a title bout with Bisping and Henderson was given the fact that Henderson is currently ranked outside of the top 10 in the middleweight division. “Hendo” is coming off of an impressive knockout victory over Hector Lombard.

Apparently, however, the idea was very realistic. UFC President Dana White appeared on FOX Sports 1 after last night’s (July 9, 2016) UFC 200 to announce the rematch between Bisping and Henderson. No official date or venue was named, but White did say that Manchester, England was the targeted location, a statement that’ll likely excite the Brit in Bisping:

Prior to shocking the world against Rockhold, Bisping had scored a somewhat controversial decision victory over all-time great former champion Anderson Silva last February. Prior to finishing Lombard, Henderson had lost three of his last four.

Despite the announcement from the UFC boss, no official deal has been signed, although Bisping vs. Henderson II appears to be next for the stacked middleweight division.

Dan Henderson: It’s Going To Be Funny Beating Bisping’s A** Again

It’s crazy to think that it was seven years ago, at UFC 100, when Dan Henderson planted his legendary right hand to the chin of Michael Bisping to create an iconic moment in mixed martial arts history. The two bitter rivals had served as opposing coaches during a season of The Ultimate Fighter, and rather typically for ‘The Count,’ he’d got under the skin of his American nemesis. The resulting KO win for ‘Hendo’ is quite possibly the most replayed moment highlight reel finish in the sport.

How things have changed since that day; Bisping after smashing Luke Rockhold in their rematch at UFC 199, is now the middleweight champion of the world. Henderson, although also victorious by way of comeback knockout over Hector Lombard on the same June 4 pay-per-view, is now eyeing retirement in the near future. Currently ranked number 13 in the 185-pound division, the 45-year old American hero may well get the opportunity to leap the rankings for a repeat showdown with Bisping given recent events.

Michael Bisping has steadily ramped up the trash talk since winning the belt, with many top contenders appealing for a fight with the newly crowned boss of the division. Not surprisingly the fans only want to see one fight for Bisping’s first defense, and it sounds as though bot the champion and Dan Henderson are on board for this epic rematch.

Bisping recently blasted Henderson as a ‘cheating old piece of sh*t,’ claiming he’d love to ‘put him in the grave’ and get revenge for that harrowing knockout at UFC 100. The highly decorated wrestler, former two-weight Pride FC champion and MMA legend Henderson has responded during this TMZ interview, as transcribed by MMAMania.com:

usa-today-8600667.0[1]

“I’ve never really paid much attention to what he says, it’s entertaining to me. It’d be pretty funny when he just yaps his mouth again and ends up getting his ass beat by an old man.”

“Over the years since I had fought him I really didn’t have a reason to fight him again,” added Henderson. “I couldn’t have knocked him out better the first time around, so he’s going to owe me two after we fight.”

For some reason, even with the glaringly obvious argument of the rankings in play, this fight has a nostalgic feel that just cannot be ignored. Perhaps it’s the festive feel us MMA fans get around the anniversary of UFC 100 and on the eve of UFC 200 month, or maybe we are just so intrigued to see if Henderson can finally win UFC gold.

Either way, as you’ll see in the interview with Hendo, it sounds as though the promotion are keen on making the fight happen.
