Fuck football. Unless you were cursed enough to grow up in Green Bay, or you’re a supporter of dudes who get accused of rape a lot, you know as well as I do that this weekend belongs to cage-fighting. And if you don’t, you can piss off right now. Seriously. The rest of us will wait.

Now then. Tonight’s ultra-stacked lineup features the longest-reigning champion in UFC history defending his middleweight title for the eighth time against a power-punching dynamo who used to be a UFC champion himself, seven years and one weight-class ago. Supporting the main event will be a scrap between two Octagon icons and former belt-holders (Franklin vs. Griffin), a fight that could produce the future of the 205-pound division (Jones vs. Bader), Miguel Torres’s breathtaking mullet, and the UFC debuts of some exciting imported talent from Japan.

Live UFC 126 results will be stacking up after the jump, beginning with a quick recap of the Yamamoto/Johnson Facebook match at 8:25 p.m. ET, leading into the Spike TV prelims broadcast at 9 p.m., and finally the pay-per-view broadcast at 10 p.m. So we’ve got a long night of fighting in front of us — but hey, nobody ever said being an MMA fan would be easy.

Anderson Silva wears a mask when he stares down Vitor Belfort at the UFC 126 weigh-ins.LAS VEGAS — Fight week has evolved into a mega-event feel. The intensity between main event participants Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort in the middleweight championship match is palpable, there are stars on the card like Forrest Griffin and Rich Franklin, and the buzz around Jon Jones is hard to miss. Continuing the momentum, Friday’s UFC 126 weigh-ins at the Mandalay Bay Events Center were packed, thousands of fans making sure not a single seat went unfilled.

Silva and Belfort gave the fans a preview of what’s to come, engaging in one of the most intense staredowns in UFC history before exchanging words and eventually being separated by UFC personnel.

Silva, playing on Belfort’s recent assertions that he “wears a mask,” in putting on a different persona to intimidate his opponents, took the words literally, wearing a white mask and going nose-to-nose with Belfort before ripping it off and exchanging some words with the former UFC light-heavyweight champion. He and Belfort heatedly went back and forth, with both refusing to back down until being pulled apart.

Looking forward to tonight’s fights. Here’s a quick last look at our UFC 126 best bets. (Re)watch the above vid for more UFC 126 betting odds and analysis.

:: We know a surprising number of people who are really liking Vitor Belfort in the headliner tonight against Anderson Silva. Public money is clearly coming in heavy on Belfort as well, as his line has moved down around 20-25 points on all sites. While we don’t think you should be betting against The Spider until proven otherwise (especially after his impressive win against a performance-enhanced Chael Sonnen), if you think Belfort has a legit shot at the title, take him a +205 on Bookmaker here. If you’re like us and think the public is usually wrong, grab Silva at -220 here.

:: Can’t wait to see Jon “Bones” Jones on a PPV card finally. He’s the biggest favorite of the main card. Best value for him is at -280 on BetED here.

:: We’ve liked Forrest Griffin from the moment his fight against Rich Franklin was announced. Nothing has changed there. If you’re like us and think Griffin shouldn’t be the dog, take the +125 here.

:: Finally–for props–while we like Griffin, we still think it’ll be a close fight. Bodog has some great props listed, included our two favorites, +250 that Griffin wins by decision and, for our flier of the week, +2600 that the bout ends in a draw. Take a look at all UFC 126 fight props here.

When Michihiro Omigawa enters the cage on Saturday at UFC 126 to fight Chad Mendes, the weight of Japanese MMA will be on his shoulders. The judoka will be the only example of a born and bred Japanese fighter that has fought in the UFC in his prime, and the fight could not come at a more important time.

The days of Pride FC are long gone. We are waiting patiently to see if DREAM is also dead. We are hearing that Sengoku Raiden Championship may be losing their financial backing.

Omigawa is not just fighting for himself. He will be fighting to maintain the relevance of Japanese MMA.
