At UFC 136, UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar finally got the monkey named “Gray Maynard” off of his back.

Maynard was the only fighter that Edgar had not been able to defeat in his professional fighting career. But that all changed in the fourth round of their title fight when Edgar scored a TKO victory.

Also, featherweight champion Jose Aldo made the second successful defense of his title when he outpointed perennial contender Kenny Florian over the course of five rounds.

In other action, Chael Sonnen earned another chance at middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva when he scored a second round submission victory over Brian Stann, Joe Lauzon was able to submit potential lightweight contender Melvin Guillard in a mere 47 seconds and Nam Phan outpointed Leonard Garcia after a 15 minute war.

So despite whether each fighter won or loss, how did they perform?

It is once again time to hand out grades to the fighters on the main card portion of UFC 136.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo successfully defended his title last night against veteran fighter Kenny Florian. Though Florian put up a good performance and even arguably won a couple of rounds, the fight never really seemed like it was slipping away from the champion.

Aldo has now made it five championship victories, though his actual winning streak extends 13 fights, all the way back to May 2006. The unbelievable streak has included victories over most of the top 145-pound fighters in the world, including previous WEC featherweight champions Urijah Faber and Mike Brown.

Some believe that Aldo has cleared out the 145-pound division so much that he should really consider making the move up to 155 pounds to give himself a bigger challenge. But on the contrary, there are still numerous exciting contenders remaining for Jose Aldo at 145 pounds. Here are the top five challengers remaining for Aldo right now in the UFC featherweight division.

From top to bottom, UFC 136 featured some of the best talent the UFC has to offer, including two current champions in Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.

Both champions were set to defend their UFC titles against their toughest opposition, and they both successfully defended their belts with flying colors.

Edgar stopped Gray Maynard in their bout, which was the third in a series that left Edgar without a victory going into their third epic encounter. Aldo defeated Kenny Florian, a former lightweight title challenger who had a wealth of experience going into the most important fight of his career.

Also in action were Nam Phan, Leonard Garcia, Melvin Guillard, Joe Lauzon, Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann.

This is what’s next for the losers.
