Coming off of a win against Mike Pyle at UFC 133, where he employed vicious ground and pound after less than four minutes in the first round, there is a lot of talk about what is next for “The Waterboy.”

Since UFC 140 is taking place in Canada, that is most likely where his next fight will be scheduled. Some say give him Fitch, while others want him to go against the winner of Hardy/Lytle matchup. The 22-year-old shows some amazing ability to one day make it to the top, but first he needs to be put to the test.

Who could bring the fight to the 22-year-old?

According to ESPN, MacDonald stated his interest in having a rematch with Carlos Condit. However, Condit is fighting BJ Penn, so a rematch probably won’t happen any time soon. I say put MacDonald up against the winner of Lytle/Hardy.

A fight between MacDonald and either one of those two would definitely make for a good show.

Dana White Puts Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz Rumors to Rest

Georges St-Pierre versus Nick Diaz at UFC 140?

You may want to take a rain check on that one.

UFC President Dana White recently spoke to HeavyMMA about rumors pitting the UFC and Strikeforce champion against one another in a superfight on December 10 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

“No,” said White. “That fight is not a done deal. Not even close. All the stuff that’s out there about that meeting that we had here is bullshit.”

Diaz was set to make his professional boxing debut against Jeff Lacy, and his camp stated that only a big money MMA bout could deter the champ’s boxing ambitions.

After St-Pierre defeated Jake Shields in April at UFC 129, White hinted at the post-fight presser that a bout between St-Pierre and Diaz could be on deck. After Diaz pulled out of his boxing bout with Lacy, many assumed the superfight was a lock.

Along with a December 10 fight date, both champions were rumored to serve as opposing coaches on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, but White quickly debunked those rumors as well.

“I guarantee you that those two will not be coaches.”

What’s next for St-Pierre and Diaz then?

It looks like fans will simply have to wait to find out.

Dana White Calls GSP vs. Diaz Reports ‘Bullshit’, Sheds a Tear for Chael Sonnen

Despite recent rumors that Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz are slated to face off at UFC 140 — and were the most likely candidates to coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter — UFC president Dana White wants to make it clear that it ain’t happening. As he tells travel-size interviewer Megan Olivi in a new interview (quotes via FightOpinion):

That fight is not a done deal and I guarantee you that those two will not be coaches, not even close. All this stuff that’s out there about that fight and the meeting that we had here is all bullshit.”

Asked if GSP vs. Diaz would be happening at the UFC’s return to Montreal in December, DW responded with a simple “no.” Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that the UFC has denied a report just so they could announce it themselves later — but at the very least, relying on Nick Diaz to coach TUF for an entire season seems like way too much to ask, when he can’t even get through an eight-minute interview without threatening to slap somebody.

Later in the interview, Dana shared his thoughts on Chael Sonnen, whose livelihood was recently taken away when the California State Athletic Commission upheld his indefinite suspension:

MEGAN OLIVI:All right, let’s talk about Chael Sonnen. What’s his status in the UFC right now?

DANA WHITE:I’m pretty bummed out about the Chael Sonnen thing and the way that the whole thing was handled. You know, this guy… I don’t know if there’s ever been a penalty laid down, I mean Tyson, I think when Tyson bit the ear, Tyson got a year. Um… it’s pretty crazy.”

MEGAN OLIVI:You know, he said that you told him if he can’t licensed, he has to retire. Is there any truth to that?

DANA WHITE:Um… listen, it’s not that he’d have to retire, but right now was his opportunity. This kid had the opportunity to coach The Ultimate Fighter, he had the opportunity to get a big fight set up, should he win that fight… everybody knows what happened with Anderson Silva, this was a key moment in this kid’s career and me, personally, you know, you’ve heard me say it for the last almost 11 years, we always support whatever the athletic commission says… This kid got, this kid got it stuck to him, man. He paid his dues in every way, shape and form and, uh… I think he’s been treated a bit unfairly.”

Allow us to state the obvious: Chael Sonnen was just caught in another lie. As he said during his last hearing: “If I don’t get my license today I’m effectively retired. That came from the boss, Dana White.” Well, not exactly, unless you have a very loose definition of “effectively retired.” Because it sounds like White really wants Sonnen competing again Yes, despite Chael’s lies about his unapproved testosterone therapy, and despite his conviction for mortgage fraud, White wants him on the team. We feel some sympathy for Sonnen missing out on such huge career opportunities, but to say that he’s “paid his dues in every way, shape and form” still seems like an exaggeration at this point.

Bleacher Report’s Michael Evans:

Dan Severn is a UFC hall of fame fighter, the first one to be exact. He fought in the old days of the UFC against other legends such as Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie. He has been a powerful wrestler, UFC tournament winner and an ambassador to the sport.

The bad part of this story is that Dan is still fighting. He is now 53 years old and he has not fought in the UFC in over 14 years yet he pushes on. He should be at home relaxing, enjoying retirement from fighting and the rest of his life.

But, instead he was in the cage for the 124th time. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he won ten fights in a row, but recently dropped two in a row including this knockout loss on May 20.

Georges St-Pierre Versus Nick Diaz: One Step Closer to Becoming Reality?

It appears that the rumored fight between UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz has cleared at least one hurdle.

MMAJunkie.com is reporting that the boxing match between Diaz and former IBF champion Jeff Lacy has been called off. The Web site reports that a press release from boxing promoter Don Chagrin stated that Diaz felt that it was in his “best interest to focus on his primary combat sport and profession,” and that Diaz was opting out of the fight to pursue, “an opportunity of a lifetime as it pertains to his MMA career.”

As soon as news of the boxing match with Lacy being off emerged, speculation began that the Diaz versus St-Pierre bout had been signed. Not so, UFC president Dana White told MMAJunkie.com, “We will see, there are still a lot of hurdles.”

The rumors of the St-Pierre versus Diaz bout took on a life of their own last week when UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright appeared on Ringside Report Radio in Montreal, revealing that the UFC was considering a December date in Montreal and that as far as a main event, “Well, I’ve heard about the Nick Diaz (versus) GSP fight but it is too early (to tell).”

The fight is an intriguing proposition as both champions are on long winning streaks, Diaz at 10 fights, and St-Pierre at nine.

Diaz and St-Pierre are also looked at as two fighters that have cleaned out their respective divisions, with many believing that a fight between the two champions is the only fight that makes sense for either of them at this point.

But, as White said, there are more hurdles before this rumored fight becomes a reality.
